The really sad part of that graph is that both parties are below 25% in the true column. Less than 1 out of 4 true statements is unacceptable from anyone or any organization. Why do we accept it from our politicians?
Yes Jerry it is unacceptable. Why we accept it? I think the reasons may be many. Not the least of which is many simply vote for who they believe is the lesser of two evils. Also many simply vote without ever checking the truth of "their candidate or parties statements.
Of course there is always the truth people like to hear what they like to hear, true or not.
Do you think it will change in our lifetime? I am certainly not optimistic.
Well, the trouble you guys are talking about is the trouble with dumbed-down, sound-bite, easy-answers-to-tough-questions rhetoric. If you read Politifact a lot, like I do, you know the tiers of truthfulness are usually measures of what is provable or not, on to disprovable - essentially what is theory and what is fact and what is just made-up. The Dems tend to deal more with facts, while the GOPers tend to deal more in theory, a little. Far more often, however, does the GOP tend to deal in outright fabrications.
Your observation with respect to the GOP is one I completely concur with. At one time the GOP was aligned with many, however not all, of my views and principles. Since the rise of the neo cons, evangelicals, and tea-publicans the GOP has drifted into the Netherlands of fabrication, mysticism, and outright idiocy so far it is impossible in my view for the really thinking women or man to continue to hang on in hopes of the party returning to reality.
When supposedly intelligent folks can support the candidacies for president of the likes of Trump, Carson, Huckabee, Cruz, (Bachmann in 2012), and Santorum just to name a few, I had to scratch my head and move away, far away from the looneys that are in vogue in the tea party/GOP today.
You're both right on the money, as they say. It's not just that facts don't matter, facts are the enemy. Listen to them howl when anyone asks them a question. Carson wants moderators to flatter, not to quiz. And when they do get caught being ignorant or confused or lying through their dentures they talk about the facts being "liberal."
RN, JMJ, Cap et al... it seems that the one word many of these GOP candidates are unable to use is HOW!
How specifically Mr Trump are you going to make America great? How Mr Rubio, after your tax cut, are you going to balance the budget? How Mr Carson, do you propose to remake the health care system?
Because the minute these guys get specific, people will run for the hills.
It is reminiscent of when Walter Mondale ran for President. He told the truth... we're gonna raise taxes and Reagan killed him for saying it, and then after the election, pushed through the then biggest tax increase in American history.
We are short of revenue and have cut all the expenses Americans are willing to cut, so the usual GOP mantra will be impossible to sustain.
But they can't say it, or the GOP will no longer exist.
RN USA no longer accepts comments. The information presented is for reflection, contemplation, and for those seeking greater understanding and wisdom. It is for seekers and those with an open mind and heart.

The Left LOVES machineguns –– in the hands of terrorists, dissidents, pirates, thieves, and marauders of all kinds –– ANYONE who UPENDS GOOD ORDER and DESTABILIZES the STATUS QUO –– , but absolutely CAN'T STAND the idea that any decent, law-abiding Americn Citizen should have guns in his home to PROTECT HIMSELF and HIS FAMILY from ATTACK by those very fiends whom the Left so ADORES. FreeThinke 2/15/18 Yesterday another mass shooting occurred at a Broward County Florida High School. 17 studends lay dead, senselessly cut down before they had an opportunity to fulfill their promise, start a family, enjoy life, and grow old. America, alledgedly the greatest nation on earth also has approximately 350 million guns in circulation. Not surprising, the death rate due to firearms in the U.S. is nearly double the global average . In the aftermath of each and every terrible gun related tragedy the nation grieves, politicians offer their heartfelt condolences, then politicians debate the ...
Rational Nation USA Purveyor of Truth The New York Times - A New York City police officer in plain clothes was shot in the face and critically wounded on Saturday in Queens after driving up in an unmarked car to question a man on the street, officials said. The officer, Brian Moore, 25, was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was listed in critical but stable condition, the police commissioner, William J. Bratton, said at a news conference at the hospital late Saturday as Officer Moore remained in surgery. On Sunday morning, Demetrius Blackwell, 35, was charged with one count of attempted murder, one of assault and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. Mayor Bill de Blasio called the shooting an “unconscionable act of violence” and “a reminder of the dangers that all of our officers face every single day.” Officer Moore was shot around 6:15 p.m. on 212th Street in Queens Village, said the police. He and Erik Jansen, both anti-crime officers, were...
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Lib e rty -vs- Tyr a nny Yes indeed. Just as some on the left are sounding the clarion call that ObamaCare is working in those states that have embraced it, such as New York and California to name two, polls are indicating that the overall national perception of ObamaCare is a net negative and even shows that some believe it should be repealed. My own view is that those favoring drastic overhaul or repeal have it about right. In the rush " to do something " We the People ended up with a flawed law being shoved down our throats. This is not a partisan statement as I'm willing to bet (based on the number of democrats that are now balking) that many liberals are questioning the wisdom of passing the legislation they knew little about and whose leader, Rep, Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said 'we have to pass the law to know what's in it'. ????? is all I can say about that gem of blind partisan faith and lack of reason. As Presi...
We are moving this running post up to front page this evening where it will remain until January 3'rd 2017 when we will return to single posts, hopefully on a daily basis. There is much to do in getting the TRUTH out about Donald J Trump, a dishonest, totally self absorbed, and dangerous individual. He may be the president on January 20th but that does not mean thoughtful and concerned people shouldn't challenge Trump at every turn and fight his agenda whenever it runs contrary to their interests and those of their family. More to come. BTW, be sure to read today's entry, 12/28/16, below. this is just one example AND, it is just the beginning. You've probably noticed the brief posts of late. Posts with very short commentary by the weblolg administrator followed by an article that goes into the subject in much greater detail. This has been done purposefully following the rancorous 2016 election, and because its Christmas Time, soon to be a New Year. This posting f...
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation U S A Lib e rty -vs- Tyr a nny Interesting possibility from the NEW REPUBLIC . This, apparently, is how diplomacy happens these days: Someone makes an off-hand remark at a press conference and triggers an international chain reaction that turns an already chaotic and complex situation completely on its head, and gives everyone a sense that, perhaps, this is the light at the end of the indecision tunnel. Speaking in London next to British Foreign Secretary William Hague on Monday, Secretary of State John Kerry said that perhaps the military strike around which the administration has been painfully circling for weeks could be avoided if Bashar al-Assad can "turn over every single bit of his chemical weapons to the international community in the next week. Turn it over, all of it, without delay, and allow a full and total accounting for that.” The fact that Kerry immediately followed with, “But he isn’t about to do it, and it can’t be don...

Apparently the feds have been keeping this operation "under the radar." Local law enforcement officials in the Bay State are growing increasingly concerned, as they rightly should. Bristol County Sheriff Thomas Hodgson is calling for sheriffs across America to "“mobilize” on the red-hot immigration issue and confront the feds over their failure to communicate with local officials." Illegal immigrants are being secretly flown to Massachusetts and kept in local lockups in an under-the-radar operation that has alarmed lawmen who are raising health and security concerns amid recent spikes in detainees coming up from Texas during the latest border crisis. “We’re all becoming border sheriffs now with these people being carted all over the country,” said Bristol County Sheriff...
