The Disinfectant Injection President...

The Choice Is Stark, and, Obvious...

WASHINGTON, DC US, April 24, 2020 - Today, The Lincoln Project released a new video entitled, “Two Americans.” The video draws stark comparisons between those who are taking the coronavirus pandemic seriously, and those who back the Trump campaign’s drive to engineer protests in the streets opposing the vital social distancing and stay-at-home guidelines in the states.

“We have seen two different types of Americans emerge through this pandemic,” said Jennifer Horn, co-founder of The Lincoln Project. “There are those who blindly follow President Trump and fight science and fact on the President’s behalf. Then there are the first responders, doctors, nurses who are risking their lives, and everyday Americans who have sacrificed so much for the good of their neighbors. We are now asking everyone to think about which kind of American they are— selfish and angry Trump supporters, or patriots willing to make sacrifices for the good of the country?”
“Trump supporters’ unwavering trust in him will lead to more chaos, confusion, and illness. In a crisis we need a leader who will steer the country toward clarity, unity, and healing—not a leader who aims to sow more discord, hate, and division.”

One among many reasons we must remove Donald J. Trump  from office in November 2020. He is becoming an ever increasing danger to the physicals health of Americans as well as the health of our national character. A character badly marred and scarred by Donald J. Trump, aka Dotard the Dim.

Support Vice President Joseph Biden for a REAL president come 2021 and beyond. Americans that love their country and our democratic republic have no choice but to unite behind Biden and the democratic slate across the board if we're to have a chance to excise the cancer Donald J. Trump put on steriods in 2015 when he announced his initial campaign.

Conservative Group Supprting Joe Biden For President...

WASHINGTON, DC US, April 21, 2020 -Today, The Lincoln Project released a new ad, “READY.” The video illustrates why Vice President Biden can reunite the country in a time of deep division, anger, and fear, and why he’s the right man to take on Donald Trump.

The ad will begin airing in Milwaukee, WI, and Grand Rapids, MI media markets beginning today.

“Vice President Biden has shown he has the temperament and experience to lead our nation in a time of crisis. Donald Trump has left America in a state of danger, despair and economic depression, and the risks are too high to allow him another term,” said Jennifer Horn, co-founder of The Lincoln Project.
“He has the empathy, compassion and strength to serve. Vice President Biden is the antithesis of everything Donald Trump stands for, and his personal triumphs and tragedies have shaped him into the leader he is today. Joe Biden is the best choice to lead America through our worst crisis in a century.”
The Founders of the Lincoln Project made a powerful case for supporting Biden in the Washington Post. You can read their op-ed here:“We’ve never backed a Democrat for president. But Trump must be defeated.”
The Lincoln Project will work to defeat Donald Trump and Trumpism in November. We are committed to ensuring that Joe Biden is sworn in on January 20, 2021.

America is facing a great lack of leadership at the top of the federal government. Donald J. Trump is unquestionably the wrong man for the job he was elected to and he proves it almost daily. And he has been for over three years. The worst man in our history to fill the office of the presidency and a great many influential republicans want him gone come January 2021 as well as democrats and many independents.
Help make this campaign ad go viral. Put it up on your weblog if you have one. Or your  Twitter and Facebook page. Or any other social media you use. Getting rid of the most incompetent and inept man in our federal government must be job 1 in November 2020. If we have a prayer of keeping our republic.

Maybe We Shouldn't Cast All Blame On Trump... Then Again... ... ...

THE BULWARK - Thinking back to the beginning of the year, the conventional wisdom was that if President Trump survived impeachment, the GOP would probably be able to ride a good economy through the summer and be competitive in the November elections. That was the old world, pre-pandemic.

In the span of a few weeks, more than 13,000 Americans have died from the novel coronavirus and 10 million jobs disappeared. Over the last 12 weeks, what President Trump says and does can no longer be brushed off as “Trump being Trump.” His reluctance to listen to experts, to honestly relay data, and to attack those who question his wild assertions isn’t opera buffa anymore. It’s tragedy. People have died because of it. Lives have been ruined.

Yet many incumbent Republicans, seeking to don the political version of PPE, are trying to avoid taking any stances that counter whatever Trump is saying in the moment—let alone criticize him. Instead, they claim that “this isn’t a time for politics.”

If only that was true.

Politicians are managing this crisis, which means that the politics matter now, more than ever. And decrying the existence of politics is, itself, a political gambit. Republicans ought to know this, because the strategy was honed by Senate Majority Leader McConnell.
Trump is the party leader. At one time what are now his most staunch supporters spoke quite disparagingly of the "man" they now pay the utmost fealty to. Trump is a monster, and a very psychologically and emotionally ill one at that. One has to question the emotional and psychological health of the majority of the GOP in the house and senate as well.

"With A Little Help From The Feds"...

The Emperor Has No Clothes...

The "man" folks call the president of the United States of America, Donald J. Trump, is floating the idea (possibility) of firing Doctor Fauci. As you know Dr. Fauci is the nations ranking expert on infectious disease and the person the "man" we call president ought to be listening to. Not only should he be listening he should be implementing EVERY recommendation of Dr. Fauci and other scientists as to how and when to begin opening up our economy again. A rolling opening rather than a flip the switch to full opening nation wide is the rational and sensible way. Why? Live depend on it.

Trump, as he has regularly reminded the nation, knows better than anyone and he alone can fix it. Whenever Trump senses that those around him are not paying the proper fealty to their master they run the risk of being forced out or removed (fired). In Trump's small world anyone with greater knowledge is viewed as a threat to his authority so he moves to either have them removed by a subordinate or he'll tweet out their firing. That's how an authoritarian with the mind of a dictator or king without clothes works.

Dr. Fauci apparently made the mistake of telling the unadulterated truth Sunday when he said had the federal government acted sooner with its social distancing,  closure of non essential businesses, closure of schools, and restricting gatherings to ten people or less we would have saved lives. Now, anyone with a modicum of intelligence and common sense knows the Good Doctor is absolutely correct.  But Trump, rather than accepting and talking about the truth and ways to prevent any future such occurrence, falls back to his favorite response. Cast blame everywhere but where it belongs, and or firing the individual that told the truth, making poor whittle Donnie look bad.

Enough of my take. Following are excerpts from two articles that go into further detail on this breaking story.

Washington (CNN) - Dr. Anthony Fauci said Sunday that calls to implement life-saving social distancing measures faced "a lot of pushback" early in the US coronavirus outbreak and that the country is now looking for ways to more effectively respond to the virus should it rebound in the fall.
"I mean, obviously, you could logically say that if you had a process that was ongoing and you started mitigation earlier, you could have saved lives," Fauci, the nation's top infectious disease expert, told CNN's Jake Tapper on "State of the Union" when asked if social distancing and stay-at-home measures could have prevented deaths had they been put in place in February, instead of mid-March.
"Obviously, no one is going to deny that. But what goes into those decisions is complicated," added Fauci, who is a key member of the Trump administration's coronavirus task force. "But you're right, I mean, obviously, if we had right from the very beginning shut everything down, it may have been a little bit different. But there was a lot of pushback about shutting things down back then."
WASHINGTON — President Trump publicly signaled his frustration on Sunday with Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, the federal government’s top infectious disease expert, after the doctor said more lives could have been saved from the coronavirus if the country had been shut down earlier.
Mr. Trump reposted a Twitter message that said “Time to #FireFauci” as he rejected criticism of his slow initial response to the pandemic that has now killed more than 22,000 people in the United States. The president privately has been irritated at times with Dr. Fauci, but the Twitter post was the most explicit he has been in letting that show publicly.
The message Mr. Trump retweeted came from a former Republican congressional candidate. “Fauci is now saying that had Trump listened to the medical experts earlier he could’ve saved more lives,” said the tweet by DeAnna Lorraine, who got less than 2 percent of the vote in an open primary against Speaker Nancy Pelosi last month.

Daily Beast - President Donald Trump spent much of this Easter weekend, his first Easter sequestered at the White House in the midst of a global pandemic and crashing economy, in a rather predictable fashion: working the phones and rage-tweeting at The New York Times and Mike Wallace’s son.
At one point, the president even promoted a Twitter post calling for the firing of his top infectious-disease expert in the middle of a deadly pandemic—because he’d said something construed as rude to Trump.
Over the weekend, the president picked up the phone and began dialing various close advisers and associates to ask them their opinion on how soon he should “open” the U.S. economy and call for Americans to start resuming business as usual, according to three people familiar with the conversations.
The subject of when to ease restrictions and guidelines, as the death toll has risen in the tens of thousands and governors and the federal government have struggled to combat the coronavirus, has been a major point of debate within the upper ranks of the Trump administration. While the president has often advocated highly optimistic and at times even negligent positions on the crisis, certain key members of his coronavirus task force—including Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases—have urged a more cautious, patient approach, particularly on “reopening” the United States for business.
And so the doctor appeared to weigh on Trump’s mind this Easter weekend.

Covid-19, Politics, Divisiveness, Which is the Most Stressfull?...

See the source image

This coronavirus is stressing without a doubt. Being cooped up inside with little ability to maintain ones usual activities and quality of life is, to say the very least, neither emotional or physically healthy. Especially for a 68 year old personal trainer.

Sure, one can read, watch TV, do the dishes, the laundry, take walks, and... watch TV some more. Being unproductive through no fault of your own is demoralizing over time. At least for those who see productive and meaningful activities as the cornerstone of happiness and wellbeing.

On top of the nasty coronavirus and boredom that has started to settle deeply within you also have the political bullshit going on 24/7. Largely cultivated by and driven by one Donald J. Trump. The "man" that is unfortunately the occupant of Our White House . At least until, if not after the next election.

Of course being an essential shut in for the past three and a half weeks here in Massachusetts gives one a lot of time to do a lot of thinking. Thinking that admittedly is not all healthy. Why? Because as time passes, and uncertainty increases, and daily activities are necessarily curtailed, etc. it is easy to allow anxiety and even depression to set it. It's a struggle to remain positive. But remain positive we must.

Adding to the concern, uncertainty, and yes, fear that Covid-19 has caused Americans (as well as  folks all across the globe) is the reality that our democratic republic is, in fact, struggling for its very survival. The lions share of responsibility for this rests with the Tea Party, Donald Trump, and the GOP. However, having said this, the democratic party and the progressives' in particular share a bit of responsibility as well.

Our people do better as a nation when we consider ourselves as one. On our currency is the Latin phrase e pluribus unum, from many one.

For at least the past fifteen plus yeas this nation has been drifting ever further apart. The increasing divisiveness is being driven by pure political ideology. The unwillingness of our elected officials to work together in meaningful and productive ways to accomplish the greatest good for all citizens of this democratic republic has resulted in the fabric of our nation being stretched almost to the point of tearing. Anyone being totally honest with themselves knw this is so.

So as this writer sees it we have three major problems converged at this point in time. Number one is Covid-19, number 2 is the loss of meaningful work during this time and the wage loss that entails for millions of folks, and number three is the divisiveness being caused by ideological purity on both sides of the political divide.

Now to the meat and purpose for this post. For me at least the threat of catching Covid-19 and possibly dying is not my largest fear. Of course my greatest fear is a member of my family catching the virus and succumbing to it. That is very frightening and always on my mind. However for me the danger lies in the inactivity that  the nasty invisible (to the naked eye) virus has rent. For a 68 year young personal trainer with two badly banged up knees, a badly compromised rib, a possible torn rotator cuff (heavy weight training and over use), and two stents recently inserted in the hearts left front descending artery (the widow maker) physical activity and moderate to intense cardio training is critical to my well being. With everything shut down the opportunity to daily get the necessary physical activity to keep myself healthy and with reduced joint and muscle discomfort (pain) is limited. In other words the overall quality of life right now sucks out loud. And THAT is my greatest fear. With that comes a level of anxiety that I have rarely experienced. No doubt this is likely true for millions of other folks, albeit perhaps for different reasons.

With all that is going on, with all the challenges facing us all, and with the utter dismay over our nations politics and divisiveness the proprietor of this weblog has decided to take a break from blogging. We're taking a break, not exiting the blogosphere for good. Posting will be more spotty and when posts are put up the will be less "edgy". Although the truth will remain the only thing published here when a post does go up. Basically the time to tone down the volume and cut out "noise" is now. And frankly for the foreseeable future. There are far too many rightwing and leftwing weblogs out there pushing division and the us not them ideology. This weblog no longer has any time for that on top of other major concerns facing tis democratic republic.

Thanks for reading and we'll be back when we come back.

Damning Report Finds White House Ignored Skeletal Horsemen Galloping Through Sky As Early As January

WASHINGTON—In a very serious and damning new report published Wednesday, a government watchdog group has found that, as early as January, White House officials failed to heed repeated warnings of impending doom that arrived via four skeletal horsemen galloping through the sky. “On Jan. 3, the Trump administration received its first notification that a quartet of ghostly riders had barreled out of the endless night—auguring death, despair, and a great cataclysm upon the earth—but the president did not begin to take the threat seriously until mid-March,” said Douglas Reisenthaler of the nonpartisan Institute for Federal Policy, a co-author of the report compiled from interviews with sources who asked to remain anonymous because they were not authorized to discuss torrents of blood raining from the Oval Office ceiling and flooding the West Wing. “For 10 full weeks, during which the White House could have been using the vast resources at its disposal to prepare for the final battle between good and evil, officials instead chose to downplay the coming apocalypse, minimizing omens such as the sudden rupture of the moon, which unleashed the black, inky trail of crows that continues to circle the Washington Monument. How many countless souls could have been saved from the dark ravages of hell simply by alerting the public that a beast with seven heads and 10 horns had emerged from the sea?” Asked about the report, White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany replied that the ominous sound of seven trumpets was being heard all the time, and no one could have known these were the seven trumpets that would herald the 1,000-year reign of Satan on eart

Fox News, the Con/Republican Network...

Following are five facts the majority of Americans are aware of. But like with most issue the truth bears repeating. Often.  Again, and Again, and AGAIN. And so we take the time to reprint excerpts from the NPR article for your consideration.

5 facts about Fox News

Fox News, the influential cable network launched by Rupert Murdoch in 1996, holds a unique place in the American media landscape, particularly for those on the ideological right. While Democrats in the United States turn to and place their trust in a variety of media outlets for political news, no other source comes close to matching the appeal of Fox News for Republicans.
Below are five facts about Fox News and how Americans feel about it. All findings are based on recent surveys from Pew Research Center’s Election News Pathways project, which focuses on what Americans hear, perceive and know about the 2020 presidential election and how these attitudes relate to how and where they get news. (You can use this interactive tool to explore the data from these surveys yourself.)
1 Around four-in-ten Americans trust Fox News. Nearly the same share distrust it.
Among all U.S. adults, 43% say they trust Fox News for political and election news – similar to the shares who say they trust CBS News (45%) and PBS (42%), according to a November 2019 survey. At the same time, 40% of adults say they distrust Fox News – the highest share out of the 30 media outlets asked about in the survey, ahead of CNN (32%) and the Rush Limbaugh radio show (29%).
2 Republicans trust Fox News more than any other outlet. Democrats distrust it more than any other outlet.
Around two-thirds of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents (65%) say they trust Fox News for political and election news. No more than a third of Republicans say they trust any of the other news organizations asked about in the survey, including network sources such as ABC News (33%), CBS News (30%) and NBC News (30%). Conservative Republicans are especially likely to say they trust Fox News: Three-quarters say this, compared with around half of moderate or liberal Republicans (51%).

Among Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents, 61% say they distrust Fox News for political news. That’s considerably higher than the shares of Democrats who distrust other outlets, including the Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity radio shows (43% and 38%, respectively) and Breitbart News (36%) – though this also reflects the fact that Fox News is more well-known to the public than these other outlets. Liberal Democrats are far more likely than conservative or moderate Democrats to say they distrust Fox news (77% vs. 48%).

Republicans place trust in one source, Fox News, far more than any other, and rely on Fox News far more for political news

3 On an ideological scale, the average Fox News consumer is to the right of the average U.S. adult, but not as far to the right as the audiences of some other outlets.

As part of the November survey, the Center grouped the audiences of 30 news outlets on a scale based on the self-described ideology and partisanship of those who said they had gotten political news from each outlet in the past week. (You can read more about this classification system in this Q&A.) Based on this scale, the average audience member for Fox News is more likely than the average U.S. adult to be conservative and Republican. But the average audiences for four other outlets in the study – the Daily Caller, Breitbart News, and the Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh radio shows – are to the right of the average Fox News viewer.

Average audience placement of each news outlet based on party and ideology4 People who cite Fox News as their main source of political news are older and more likely to be white than U.S. adults overall.

Americans ages 65 and older account for around four-in-ten of those who say their main source is Fox News (37%), compared with 21% of all adults, according to the November survey. And around nine-in-ten who turn to Fox News (87%) identify their race and ethnicity as non-Hispanic white, compared with 65% of all adults.

5 Those who name Fox News as their main source of political news stand out in their views on key issues and people, including President Donald Trump.

Fox News consumers tend to have an especially positive view of the president, which may not be a surprise given that 93% of those who name the network as their main source of political news identify as Republican or lean to the party.
One striking example is in perceptions of Trump’s handling of the coronavirus outbreak. In a March 2020 survey, 63% of those whose main source of political and election news is Fox News said Trump is doing an excellent job responding to the outbreak. No more than a quarter of those who cited other news outlets as their main source of political news said this. Fox News regulars were considerably more likely than Republicans overall to describe Trump’s handling of the outbreak as excellent (63% vs. 47%).
Most Fox News regulars say Trump's response to COVID-19 outbreak has been excellent

For me the most telling is #2 on the list. A majority of Fox News consumers, 65%, trust Fox News and only 30% even bother to read and digest news and opinions from other sources. Is this because they are gullible and easily lead by ideologues and charlatans (Hannity, Fox and Friends, Gutfeld,  Limbaugh, Trump, et all). Or is it because they know something only Foxers know?
