Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Ron Dermer joined Trump, First Lady Melania Trump and top White House officials as they landed in Pittsburgh.

While Dermer agreed to join the president, other big names in Washington turned down the honor – House Speaker Paul D. Ryan, House Majority and Minority Leaders Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority and Minority leaders Mitch McConnell and Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer, all turned down invitations.

A list of local officials, including Pittsburgh mayor, Bill Peduto, also declined their invitations to meet with the visiting president. The mayor had publicly advised the president to delay his visit so that the community’s attention could be focused on embracing the victims.

Members of Pittsburgh's Jewish community said earlier Tuesday that they would protest against Trump if he came to Pittsburgh. In an announcement for the protest to be held on Tuesday afternoon, organizers said, "President Trump, words have consequences."

The announcement also echoed an open letter from a group of local Jewish leaders who told Trump: "You are not welcome in Pittsburgh until you fully denounce white nationalism."

More than 43,000 people have signed the letter, organized and posted online by the Pittsburgh chapter of Bend the Arc, a Jewish organization opposed to what it calls "the immoral agenda of the Trump administration and the Republican Party."

Why Let tRump Goad You Into Responding?...

Image result for pictures of elizabeth warren

Warren’s maneuver stands as a warning sign for other presidential contenders. Getting into the mud pit with Trump—who doesn’t care about political decorum, rules, sexism, racism, name-calling, facts, or reason—has revealed itself as a sucker’s game. Like a scientist trying to argue with a climate-change denier, you’ll just end up drowning in a tide of bad faith.

Should Individual DNA Information Be Protected Under Right To Privacy Law...

Elizabeth Warren released her DNA to put to rest questions about her ancestral heritage. Specifically whether or not she has any American Indian blood. DNA results indicate that she does. So, America knows that Senator Warren was telling the truth when she made the claim that she did. No doubt she feels immense satisfaction having put tRump in his place. But did she effectively put in place a precedent that may haunt future candidates tat consider running for public office. Slate lays such concern out convincingly.

How long will it be until a candidate finds herself effectively disqualified over a 10 percent chance of one disease or a 20 percent chance of another? An older candidate might assert that younger opponents had a greater chance of Alzheimer’s. A candidate might demand his opponent test her children’s DNA after rumors of infidelity “so we can all move on.” And another candidate might find themselves under pressure to share their DNA to verify heritage—even though the use of genetic testing for this purpose is extremely limited. Our reductive, even primitive understanding of how our genes relate to racial identity and health has produced yet another hurdle for future presidential candidates to leap (or find another way around). While it may not happen in 2020 or even 2024, it is not that far a step from the results Warren has released to the day when a candidate’s full genome is posted for review.
A power revealed soon becomes a power abused. Until Monday, Trump’s bluster was just bluster. Warren deflected his attacks, and similar attacks from her 2012 opponent Scott Brown, with relative ease. But now she has set a precedent. The “mismeasure of man” has never been prevented by new tests; it has only been shunted down new paths. We will live to see qualified candidates driven from politics over small potential flaws uncovered in their genetic makeup. We will see our nation retreat further from rational discourse, as objective proof is futilely offered and then sacrificed as “junk science” in the name of political skirmishing. President Trump will not be the last bully to demand the right to rummage through an opponent’s DNA. We must hope that Warren will be the last for a long time to allow it.

Perhaps Senator Warren should have thought out all the potential ramifications of her action choice. Maybe it won't come to the end Slate envisions. Time will tell, but, we're laying odds that Slate is right.

The Pot Calls the Kettle Black...

Extreme rightwing tRumpers supporting the most vile example of  a human being really and seiously ought to take the logs out of their own eyes.

Hypocrisy runs rampant in the GOP,  present day conservatism,  and the American Christian Evangelicalism.

There are two basic types of DIRTocRATS.

The SVENGALIS –– a relatively few, very powerful, odly charismatic, very wicked schemers who sre experts in hypnotizingthe masses to do their bidding..

The TRILBYS –– those weak-minded, miseducated, sheep-like types who are too easily mesmerized to participate in deadly forms of GroupThink.

Reasons Why Confirming Kavanaugh Was A Grievous Mistake...

As the rightwing of the republican party solidifies its grip on power the majority of Americans will lose freedoms all are entitled to.

Commenting on the prospect of Kavanaugh’s appointment to the Supreme Court,  CNN’s Jeffrey Toobin explained:
I don’t think same-sex marriage is in jeopardy but think about the bakery case where a baker didn’t want to make a wedding cake [for a gay couple.] Wait until they start getting cases from hotel owners who say I don’t want to use my creativity for gay customers, and restaurant owners who don’t want to serve gay customers.”

I mean this is a dramatic change coming, and the conservatives are in charge. There is a reason why the Evangelicals and the base of the Republican Party have stood with Donald Trump all this time. It’s not because they admire Donald Trump’s personal life, but because he has delivered on what is most important to them.

Larry T. Decker, Executive Director of the Secular Coalition for America writes:

The confirmation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to our nation’s highest court is a supreme injustice. By voting to confirm Judge Kavanaugh, the Senate has compromised the integrity of the Supreme Court and imperiled the civil rights of the most vulnerable among us. … Judge Kavanaugh has repeatedly issued rulings and opinions that convey a disturbing rejection of the constitutional principle of a separation between church and state. There is no reason to doubt that Justice Kavanaugh will bring this radical jurisprudence with him to the Supreme Court and issue rulings that erode the Establishment Clause, undermine civil rights, and further distort the principle of religious liberty.

Rachel Laser, CEO and President of Americans United for Separation of Church and State notes:
Brett Kavanaugh has shown himself to be unworthy of a seat on the Supreme Court…

Kavanaugh’s views alone disqualified him from the Supreme Court, particularly his opposition to the separation of religion and government. His record as a judge of allowing people to use ‘religious freedom’ to discriminate is especially ominous in light of the Religious Right’s movement, empowered and emboldened by this administration, to misuse this core American principle to advance a regressive political agenda…

Nick Fish, President of American Atheists opines
From the moment Brett Kavanaugh was nominated to this position, we knew that he presented a unique and existential threat to the constitutional principles of religious equality and the separation of religion from government.

During this confirmation process, our worst fears about Kavanaugh’s record, judicial philosophy, and temperament were confirmed. He has repeatedly shown himself to be a partisan ideologue who is more interested in protecting religious privilege for politically powerful sects than standing up for true religious freedom.

Kavanaugh’s views on religious issues are deeply outside the mainstream and threaten decades of precedent on issues ranging from taxpayer subsidy of religion and proselytizing in public schools, to civil rights protections for LGBTQ Americans and access to reproductive health care for women.

If this stuff doesn't bother you it sure as hell ought to! Because unless you fit the mold of the most extreme rightwing ideology you're most likely gonna hate what's probby coming down the pike.

GOP Cannot Be Trusted To Do The Right Thing...

“Senators have been muzzled. So I will now say three things that committee staff has explained are permissible to say without violating committee rules. … One: This was not a full and fair investigation. It was sharply limited in scope and did not explore the relevant confirming facts. Two: The available documents do not exonerate Mr. Kavanaugh.

And three: the available documents contradict statements Mr. Kavanaugh made under oath. I would like to back up these points with explicit statements from the FBI documents — explicit statements that should be available for the American people to see. But the Republicans have locked the documents behind closed doors.” - Elizabeth Warren

An honorable exception:

SENATOR LISA MURKOWSKI: I did not come to a decision on this until walking onto the floor this morning. I have been wrestling to really try to know what is fair and what is right, and the truth is, that none of this has been fair.
This hasn’t been fair to the judge, but I also recognize that we need to have institutions that are viewed as fair and if people who are victims, people who feel that there is no fairness in our system of government, particularly in our courts, then you’ve gone down a path that is not good and right for this country. And so I have been wrestling with whether or not this was about qualifications of a good man or is this bigger than the nomination.
And I believe we’re dealing with issues right now that are bigger than the nominee and how we ensure fairness and how our legislative and judicial branch can continue to be respected. This is what I have been wrestling with, and so I made the — took the very difficult vote that I did.
I believe Brett Kavanaugh’s a good man. It just may be that in my view he’s not the right man for the court at this time. So I have taken my vote here this morning, I’m going to go back to my office and write a floor statement that is more fulsome and have the opportunity to have that.
But this has truly been the most difficult evaluation of a decision that I have ever had to make, and I’ve made some interesting ones in my career. But I value and respect where my colleagues have come down from in their support for the judge, and I think we’re at a place where we need to begin thinking about the credibility and integrity of our institutions.

"Christians" Use Bible In Defense of Kavanaugh...

Christians Use Bible To Defend Kavanaugh And Discredit Sexual Assault Survivors (Image via Twitter)

Truly reprehensible. Many conservative X'tians (especially Evangelicals) do not deserve to be considered Christian as they are fathoms beneath the dignity of Christ's legacy.

Patheos - Deplorable: Conservative Christians are using the Bible to defend Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and discredit victims of sexual assault.

On social media conservative Christians are sharing a meme taken from the Book of Genesis and involving Joseph and Potiphar’s wife. The meme is being used as a vehicle to try and discredit survivors of sexual assault in general, and Kavanaugh’s victims in particular.
For those unfamiliar, the story depicts Joseph as a victim, falsely accused of  sexual assault by Potiphar’s wife.
The story involving Joseph and Potiphar’s wife appears in Genesis 39:10-15:
10 And though she spoke to Joseph day after day, he refused to go to bed with her or even be with her.
11 One day he went into the house to attend to his duties, and none of the household servants was inside. 12 She caught him by his cloak and said, “Come to bed with me!” But he left his cloak in her hand and ran out of the house.
13 When she saw that he had left his cloak in her hand and had run out of the house, 14 she called her household servants. “Look,” she said to them, “this Hebrew has been brought to us to make sport of us! He came in here to sleep with me, but I screamed. 15 When he heard me scream for help, he left his cloak beside me and ran out of the house.”

After the false accusation, the story goes, Joseph was sent to prison. The story is currently being used as a rallying cry for conservative Christians trying to defend the actions of Kavanaugh.

Bottom line: Deplorable conservative Christians are using a Bible verse dealing with Joseph and Potiphar’s wife to discredit sexual assault survivors in general, and the victims of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh in particular.

This is what the GOP and its conservative X'tian membership believes. They have NO understanding and grasp as to what ethics and morality really mean.

The Good Ole Boys Are Steamrolling a Confirmation...

Like I said in a comment in the previous post yesterday, the fix is in on the Kavanaugh fiaco. Repubs and tRump do not want the truth, nor do they care if the nominee is one of the country's best legal minds. All they care about is elevating someone to the high court that will support their agenda. Shoving their evangelical conservative ideology down the throats of all Americans is their primary concern. And, they will stop at almost nothing to insure they win.

Republicans Have Decided to Ignore All of Brett Kavanaugh’s Lies

The FBI investigation into Brett Kavanaugh has turned out to be a fig leaf. Multiple reports tell the same story: The White House has controlled the probe, ignoring the attempts by multiple witnesses to reach investigators and wrapping up its work well before its already-tight deadline.
In the meantime, however, significant new evidence has appeared from the news media. It demonstrates beyond a doubt that Kavanaugh’s emotional testimony was a farrago of evasions and outright lies.
Tuesday, the New York Times delved into Kavanaugh’s high-school culture. It turned up several details casting serious doubt on the ancillary claims the prospective justice made. Kavanaugh wrote a letter describing himself and his friends as “prolific pukers,” undercutting his assurance to the Senate that his inclusion in the the “Beach Week Ralph Club” was a reference to a weak stomach for spicy food. His yearbook described girls from Holton-Arms — the alma mater of Christine Blasey Ford — as easy sexual conquests, contradicting Kavanaugh’s insistence that she would not have entered his social circle. (“My friends and I spent time together at parties on weekends, it was usually the — with friends from nearby Catholic all-girls high schools, Stone Ridge, Holy Child, Visitation, Immaculata, Holy Cross. Dr. Ford did not attend one of those schools. She attended an independent private school named Holton-Arms and she was a year behind me.”)
Also in his testimony, Kavanaugh evasively refused to even concede that the “Bart O’Kavanaugh” described by his best friend, Mark Judge, was a fictionalized reference to himself. “I’m trying to get a straight answer from you under oath. Are you Bart Kavanaugh that he’s referring to, yes or no?” asked Senator Patrick Leahy. “You’d have to ask him.” The Times found a letter written by Kavanaugh, signed “Bart.”

Wednesday, James Roche, a former college roommate of Kavanaugh’s, wrote a column for Slate expressing his incredulity at the self-portrait the judge presented before the Senate. Roche noted that Kavanaugh’s drinking was far more serious than he had allowed. More specifically, he contradicted Kavanaugh’s dubious claims that his reference to “boofing” meant flatulence, and “Devil’s Triangle” a drinking game. “Boofing” and “Devil’s Triangle” are sexual references,” write Roche. “I know this because I heard Brett and his friends using these terms on multiple occasions.”
During his testimony, Kavanaugh piously insisted his description as a “Renate Alumnius” was a term of affection for a friend they regarded as one of their own, devoid of any sexual connotation. Last night, The New Yorkerreported one of Kavanaugh’s high-school friends’ detailed recollections that this was a complete lie. His recollections are worth reading in detail:
But the classmate who submitted the statement said that he heard Kavanaugh “talk about Renate many times,” and that “the impression I formed at the time from listening to these conversations where Brett Kavanaugh was present was that Renate was the girl that everyone passed around for sex.” The classmate said that “Brett Kavanaugh had made up a rhyme using the REE NATE pronunciation of Renate’s name” and sang it in the hallways on the way to class. He recalled the rhyme going, “REE NATE, REE NATE, if you want a date, can’t get one until late, and you wanna get laid, you can make it with REE NATE.” He said that, while he might not be remembering the rhyme word-for-word, “the substance is 100 percent accurate.” He added, “I thought that this was sickening at the time I heard it, and it left an indelible mark in my memory.”

America' s Deteriorating Global Status...

If America's deteriorating global image is considered to be making America great then president tRump is surely MAGA.
Seven in 10 people around the world have no confidence in Trump, and America’s global image may be suffering as a result, a new survey finds.
The 25-nation study, conducted by Pew Research Center, found that views of America are continuing to deteriorate after taking a major hit when Trump took office.
Overall, 43 percent of those surveyed said they have an unfavorable view of the U.S., while 50 percent have a favorable view.
Those ratings are far lower than at any point during President Obama’s eight years in office, according to Pew.
America’s international image is particularly low among some of our closest allies, with just 30 percent of Germans, 38 percent of French, and 39 percent of Canadians expressing a favorable view of the U.S.
In all three examples, ratings of the U.S. are worse than they were a year ago.
