by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty -vs- Tyranny It is refreshing to read something like this from an elected official that actually has the interests of We the People in mind. We are all hopeful I'm sure that Senator Rand Paul lives by these words and stands for the people. If he does he has a bright future in American politics and governance. National Review - Much has been speculated and written since my endorsement of Mitt Romney for president. Many in the liberty movement and my longtime supporters wondered if, as a result of endorsing someone for office, I would stand up to them when they went astray. The question to me is as strange as the answer is simple: Yes, strongly. Every time. I have always done what I believe and I have never been blinded by party. In my time in the United States Senate, I have opposed the USA Patriot Act, voted against the NDAA over indefinite detention, fought to end mandatory minimum drug sentences, and voted against my par...

by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty -vs- Tyranny James Madison "What is to be the consequence, in case the Congress shall misconstrue this part [the necessary and proper clause] of the Constitution and exercise powers not warranted by its true meaning, I answer the same as if they should misconstrue or enlarge any other power vested in them ... the success of the usurpation will depend on the executive and judiciary departments, which are to expound and give effect to the legislative acts; and in a last resort a remedy must be obtained from the people, who can by the elections of more faithful representatives, annul the acts of the usurpers." --James Madison, Federalist No. 44, 1788 President George Washingtom "The executive branch of this government never has, nor will suffer, while I preside, any improper conduct of its officers to escape with impunity." --George Washington, letter to Gouverneur Morris, 1795 Are there any men (or women) such ...

From the desk of: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty -vs- Tyranny President Harry Truman I was born the year President Harry Truman left office. I remember my father talking about President Truman and even as a young boy I knew he held great respect and admiration for the man. As I studied history I was a bit surprised that not more time was given to the study of this remarkable man of integrity. Just the other day my father sent me something I believe bears publication here at Rational Nation USA . The mark of a great leader is one who leads by example and expects little in return for his leadership. Harry Truman was a example of a great leader. I don't know who wrote the following, but whoever it was my hats off to you. Harry Truman was a different kind of President. He probably made as many, or more important decisions regarding our nation's history as any of the other 42 Presidents preceding him. However, a measure of his greatness may rest on what h...

by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty -v s- Tyranny American Bald Eagle - Representing Freedom and Liberty A short speech you'll NEVER hear from any candidate, of either party, who is seeking their party's nomination for the office of President of the United States. "My fellow Americans, be not deterred in your search for reason and rational thought.. Do not turn from your quest to find truth and an understanding of objective reality. Be ever suspicious of those circling on the far left as well as those on the far right, as they are your enemy. Indeed they are the enemy of constitutionally limited government and liberty. Be afraid, very afraid of those who would have you believe the state, with its power hungry special interest manipulators, the ones who advocate increased dependency in statism as the answer to our problems. They simply will provide us with more chains to wrap around our already crippled liberties. Yes my fellow Americans, we fac...

by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Birthplace of Independent Conservatism The following words are attributed to Samuel Adams, an 18TH Century American Patriot. Given the current tenor of political debate, and the often uncivil discourse amongst the people disposed to politics, it seemed, at least to me, that San Adams words have special significance today. "A general dissolution of principles and manners will more surely overthrow the liberties of America than the whole force of the common enemy. While the people are virtuous they cannot be subdued; but when once they lose their virtue then will be ready to surrender their liberties to the first external or internal invader." --Samuel Adams, letter to James Warren, 1779 Perhaps the elected officials of both majors, as well as the rank and file members of the democratic and the republican parties ought to read these words. Even internalizing them and perhaps looking in the mirror from time to time. Dissension and...

By: Pamela D. Hart I feel it’s important to conduct oneself in an honorable manner on the internet and I’ve behaved properly since my first social networking gig, which was MySpace back in the day. When I decided to begin blogging I knew I would continue my good behavior not only because I wanted to maintain my respectable on-line reputation but also because I didn’t want anyone I knew to read something unsavory written by me. I can say with confidence that after 3 years of blogging I have maintained my respectable behavior and will continue to do so. I’m not proud of some bloggers who actively and knowingly tried to censor other blogs. You can read the story here . I’m a firm believer in our 1st Amendment and I’m ashamed that Conservatives have been named in this Digg scandal. It makes those of us who are respectable and noble look bad. I would like to go on record right now by saying that I denounce anyone, Right or Left, who engages in sleazy behavior. I also oppose bloggers...
