Ron Paul Takes the Rational Road While Son Rand Takes the Hysteria Highway...

by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Purveyor of Truth Again, as he so often is on many issues, Ron Paul is on the rational side of the Ebola air travel ban hysteria. He opposes a ban on travel to and from Africa while his more mainstream right wing son Senator Rand Paul supports a ban. Of course Ron Paul is right in his assessment that the current hysteria is largely (if not completely) driven by political motivations. POLITICO - Ron Paul on Monday said that calls for a ban on travel from West African countries affected by Ebola are primarily “politically motivated” — just days after his son Sen. Rand Paul announced his support for one. Appearing on Newsmax TV’s “America’s Forum” with former Arizona Republican Rep. J.D. Hayworth, Ron Paul said he wouldn’t support a travel ban. “Right now, I would say a travel ban is politically motivated more than something done for medical purposes,” the former Texas congressman and three-time presidential candidate told Hayworth. Rand P...

Congressman Ron Paul, a Man of Integrity...

Image
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty -vs- Tyranny A man of principle and integrity. Representative Ron Paul in response to the rEpub lican pA rty offer of a speaking slot at the national rEpub lican cOnven tion . POLITICO - Mr. Paul, in an interview, said convention planners had offered him an opportunity to speak under two conditions: that he deliver remarks vetted by the Romney campaign, and that he give a full-fledged endorsement of Mr. Romney. He declined. “It wouldn’t be my speech,” Mr. Paul said. “That would undo everything I’ve done in the last 30 years. I don’t fully endorse him for president.” It is a rare thing in the politics of the 21st century when a politician puts principal ahead of politics. A son is not always "a chip off the old block." Paul’s refusal to play ball stands in contrast to his son, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, who at some personal political cost has endorsed Mitt Romney’s bid – and has a speaking slot. The disparate appro...

Fighting Now To Keep the Revolution Alive...

Image
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty -vs- Tyranny Robert F. Bukaty/AP Photo Ron Paul's final battle is securing the necessary 18 delegate needed from Nebraska’s state GOP convention on Saturday. In doing so he stands to secure a 15 minute speaking slot at the national convention in August . Congressman Paul believes this will help galvanize his base and keep his "Revolution" and the liberty movement alive. THE HILL - Rep. Ron Paul said that the Republican Party is scared to let him speak at the national convention in Florida next month. The Texas Republican candidate for president said he thinks the prospects of him having the Tampa platform to energize his “Ronvolution” movement of supporters — who buck traditional GOP staples such as war funding and are in favor of more radical ideas such as auditing the Federal Reserve — intimidates some in the Republican leadership, including former Gov. Mitt Romney’s (R-Mass.) campaign. “I think the Romney ...

Some Things Deserve a Second Look...

by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty -vs- Tyranny Sometimes ya have one of those days when it's plainly best to relax and take it easy for a bit. Take the time to recharge the batteries. Peruse the You Tube archives just for the fun of it. Occasionally you come across something worth bring to the surface again. Something that totally speaks for itself... And is no work for the weary.

Ron Paul Surging in Iowa and New Hampshire

Image
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty -v s- Tyranny Ron Paul for President - 2012 Ron Paul is gaining steam. It now appears, based on polling in both Iowa and New Hampshire he has crossed the threshold and therefore should be viewed as a serious contender. It is within the realm of possibility Mr. Paul could take first or second in both states. Ron Paul will now perhaps get the respect and exposure from the networks he so richly deserves. His message has been consistent. The only real constitutionalist in the republican field he is clear in his positions on limited government, curbing the MIC, the Federal Reserve, crony capitalism, corporatism and so much more . Brent Budowsky of The Hill has an excellent analysis. There are now multiple polls that show Ron Paul has gained support and has a legitimate chance to come in first or second in Iowa and New Hampshire. I would now call Ron Paul one of three front-runners in both Iowa and New Hampshire alongside Mitt Romn...

Ron Paul... The Libertarian Republican Presidential Candidate, and Brightest in the Field

Image
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty -v s- Tyranny Rep. Ron Paul, the long shot candidate for president. A member of the Republican party {why I haven't a clue} who is by far more Libertarian than Republican. A man who is different from your typical politician. Who unlike Romney, Perry, Cain, Bachmann, Gingrich, and Santorum {did I forget anyone?} is consistent in principle and his understanding of our Constitutional foundation. A man who could, if given a shot have a profoundly positive impact on the health of the nation. He is not beholden to the power structure in the party of R. Nor is he warmly in bed with the monied Wall Street monied interests. He understands the need for monetary reform and has been instrumental in exposing the need for oversight of the Federal Reserves. And he sees the definite and immediate need to reign in the MIC. Paul may not be the perfect candidate. In fact it is very likely there is no such thing as the perfect candidate. After all...

A Time For Decency

Image
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Birthplace of Independent Conservatism Liberty -vs- Tyranny There are may reasons to support Representative Ron Paul for president. Here is one more reason. The Examiner reporting. Republican presidential candidate Rep. Ron Paul (R-Tex.) has once more called for the privatization of airport security amidst the “appalling treatment” travelers receive at airports, in the latest post on the congressman’s “Texas Straight Talk” blog. “The press reports are horrifying,” Paul wrote. “Ninety-five-year-old women humiliated, children molested, disabled people abused. Men and women subjected to unwarranted groping and touching of their most private areas, and involuntary radiation exposure.” Paul mentioned a piece of legislation he will introduce this week — The American Traveler Dignity Act - that will address his concerns about airport security and personal privacy. The act, in essence, would hold Transportaion Safety Administration (TSA) em...

Chris Mathews Implies Ron Paul Is Racist

Image
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Birthplace of Independent Conservatism Ron Paul in the week he announced his candidacy for the presidency of the United States placed himself in the spotlight of controversy over the 1964 Civil Rights Act. He stated on the Chris Matthews show that he would have voted against the act were he in congress at the time. Rep. Paul's reason is consistent with his position on property rights and that the act violated the property rights of independent businesses. This is in holding with constitutional principles and Libertarian values advocated by Paul. Those who remember Senator Bary Goldwater will remember he voted against the 1964 Civil Rights Act on the same property rights basis expressed by Rep. Paul on the Mathews show. Senator Barry Goldwater was the Republican Presidential nominee in 1964. Chris Mathews, in typical progressive fashion, implied that Paul was a racist because of his position on the Civil Rights Act. Of course this on...

Rep. Ron Paul... Gaining Steam

Image
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Birthplace of Independent Conservatism Juan William's article in The Hill does a nice job of analyzing Rep. Ron Paul's growing outsider influence in GOP politics as well as his "not beyond the realm of possibility" that Paul could actually capture the 2012 republican presidential nomination. Ron Paul is driven by his strong Libertarian leaning, his firm belief in limited government, and strict adherence to The Constitution. Representative Paul is consistent, he is logical, and his message strikes a chord deep within many most Americans. Is it any wonder the 12 term representative is being listened to with respect to domestic issues and foreign affairs? Simply put Ron Paul is a man for the thinking American. For those who may have not yet given Rep. Paul a serious look  you should. Also, his book, The Revolution: A Manifesto  is a must read for those who are interested in reshaping America along proper Constitutiona...

Ron Paul Telling It Like It Is

by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Birthplace of Independent Conservatism Representative Ron Paul (R-TX) again making the case to get the hell out of Afghanistan. When GWB took us into Afghanistan following the attack'a of 911 he was justified in doing so. Ten years later, with additional loss of American live and nearly a trillion dollars spent, there is no justification for the United States military to be in Afghanistan any longer. The only justification for war is an unprovoked act of aggression against a nation and it's people. GWB responded to such an attack on our people on American soil after 911. We are there now for... well, I cannot think of even one rational reason. Ron Paul rightfully mocks the so called fiscal conservatives in congress for their rapid actions to defund NPR which may save 10 million dollars. Now don't get me wrong, I am all for the defunding of NPR. The federal government has no business funding any news outlet. Rep. Paul's point...

Even Representative Ron Paul Can Stretch Reason

Image
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Rational Nation USA 's Editor in Chief is a long standing supporter of Representative Ron Paul's positions. He has always been, at lest in my mind, a rational and reasoned thinker. A staunch advocate for individual liberty and limited Constitutional government he provides a rational pathway to fiscal sanity and proper government. However, with respect to the issue of the WikiLeaks release of confidential U.S.state documents Representative Paul is at best walking a thin line in his reported support of Julian Assange. While all advocates of liberty should support open and transparent government there is a huge difference between openness and espionage. While the activities of a multitude of international figures might be open to question the release of confidential U.S. state documents, {particularly during times conflict and ideological warfare}, puts our soldiers as well as civilian officials at heightened danger. On this issue Re...

Congressman Ron Paul Introduces HR 6414

by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Congressman Ron Paul once again standing up {and doing something} on behalf of the beleaguered American  citizen. Supporting them and addressing the ridiculous statism that threatens our very liberties. Congressmen Paul introduced HR 6414 on November 17th following the TSA's use of  intrusive full body scans and pat downs. The belief these measures will prevent  terrorism or insure a safer more secure nation is at best just wishful thinking. HR 6414: A BILL – HR 6416 To ensure that certain Federal employees cannot hide behind immunity. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. NO IMMUNITY FOR CERTAIN AIRPORT SCREENING METHODS. No law of the United States shall be construed to confer any immunity for a Federal employee or agency or any individual or entity that receives Federal funds, who subjects...

Monetary Policy and The Truth

By: Les Carpenter III Rational Nation  USA   America has listened to, and for the most part accepted a line of self serving political and financial market BS for far to long. One of the few politicians and government leaders that are telling the people the truth is Congressman Ron Paul. An honest politician with ethical and moral standards he is one of the few telling America the truth about our nations financial future.  His book, " The Revolution, A Manifesto " explains in graphic detail the danger America faces if it does not change its past and current policies. If you care about our nations future, please take the time to familiarize yourself with basic capitalist economic principals in general (if you do not already know the basics) and Ron Paul in particular. His vision for America is the right one at this point in our history. Thank you.

Ron Paul - A Philosophy Of Governance For Our Time

Ron Paul, the libertarian leaning republican representative from Texas, and a candidate for his parties 2008 presidential nomination proving again he is one of the few republicans with ideas worth serious consideration. His brand of fiscal conservatism and non interventionist foreign policy is the right prescription for our nation at precisely the right time. He touches on some issues that should be important to Americans of all political persuasions in the following short interview with Judge Napolitano. Representative Paul,  appearing at CPAC's 2010 conference had much more to say on the values of limited government, liberty, non interventionist foreign policy, and fiscal responsibility. His libertarian principals continue to gain ground nationwide. With Paul as spokesman for these principals it is certain the movement will continue to grow. While it unlikely he will mount another campaign in 2012 for his parties nomination...

Ron Paul Wins CPAC Straw Poll - Draws Boos

As an independent conservative , and one who has only followed the CPAC conference minimally, I was pleased over the announcement Ron Paul was the top vote getter in the CPAC straw poll  field of eleven . However, I was puzzled by the boos erupting from the crowd. After a few brief moments it hit me. Boos were coming from those entrenched in the Republican Party establishment. The power structure of the party that has held control of, and was responsible for many of the failings of the out of touch current Republican party hierarchy. While it is unlikely the seventy four year old Ron Paul will be a serious contender for the 2012 Republican nomination, he represents real conservative and libertarian principals. Principals not unlike those that fueled the conservative movement during the sixties and seventies. A movement that included Bary Goldwater, William F. Buckley, and Ronald Reagan. Modern conservatives were a...

Rep. Ron Paul on the Tea Parties

Image
Representative Ron Paul (R-Texas, a favorite of the Tea Baggers, has cautioned the GOP not to align itself to closely with protesters. Because of the (volatility)of protesters their actions, and the messages they send, can often be  unpredictable and inconsistent. Paul told MSNBC's Rachel Maddox on Wednesday evening, "I don't think you can talk about the tea party as a party. It's made up of a lot of different people. And I don't even see them as being Republican" He went on to say, "I think they are unhappy. They're unhappy with the establishment party. And that's made up of the Republicans and the Democrats. If the Republicans don't catch on to that, they can't build their party." Paul, when asked about the recent photo circulating on liberal blogs with a prominent tea party organizer holding a sign with what can be considered inflammatory and racially motivated language said, tea party activists  sometimes "act to...

Ron Paul on Succession

One finds it difficult to argue with the very rational and valid points Ron Paul makes here. His historical perspective is accurate as is his view that had succession remained a viable consideration in 1860 the federal government likely would be much more restrained with significantly more power vested in the states and the people. Perhaps he is right. At the point in time the Obama Administration usurps enough liberty from the people, and bankrupts the nation, it may again find itself on the American table of discourse.
