The ObamaCare Divide Creating Two America's...

by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Purveyor of Truth Red and blue state map, based on returns in last four presidential elections. (Wikimedia Commons/ Angr) This site is not a supporter of the mechanisms of ObamaCare and questions whether it in fact will ultimately make health care either more accessible r affordable. Except for those receiving a subsidy or are getting it free. All that aside I do agree with following Moyers & Company article stating that ObamaCare is widening the gap between red America and blue America. Something needed to be done with our health care and insurance system. Most agree that the pre ObamaCare system needed some work. Unfortunately reason failed American politics and what we have achieved is an ever more polorized country with no end to the polarization. Perhaps it is time to officially form a Blue United States of America and a Red United States of America. Because in reality we are moving ever closer to the breaking point. Th...

Health Insurance Premiums To Rise...

Image
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation U S A Purveyor of Truth ObamaCare, also known as the Affordable Care Act, a misnomer if ever there was one, is destined to become even more unaffordable for many people in the near future. Setting the miserably inept roll out aside, and the President's assurances that " if you like your plan you and keep your plan and "if you like your doctor you can keep your doctor " The Hill is reporting that "O-Care premiums are set to skyrocket." It is becoming more evident that the concerns expressed by the skeptics, and indeed there were and remain many, are coming to pass. With premiums that may triple in some regions can anyone blame people for questioning the President's integrity at this juncture? Republican's have been looking for a major issue that could be a real game changer for the party in the 2016 presidential election. Hitting people hard in their pocketbooks usually has a significant or even huge im...

ACA and the Glitches in the Registration Process, Possibly Many Weeks Away from Correcting...

by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation U S A Lib e rty -vs- Tyr a nny As the administration acknowledges the myriad of technical problems with the healthcare exchange marketplace (and feigns anger) contractors have identified most of the problems but worry it may be weeks away before all issues are resolved. This is because the Obama Administration has been slow (remis) in issuing orders to fix the flaws. From The New York Times . Federal contractors have identified most of the main problems crippling President Obama’s online health insurance marketplace, but the administration has been slow to issue orders for fixing those flaws, and some contractors worry that the system may be weeks away from operating smoothly, people close to the project say. Administration officials approached the contractors last week to see if they could perform the necessary repairs and reboot the system by Nov. 1. However, that goal struck many contractors as unrealistic, at least for major components o...

Here the GOP Goes Again... Is the Party Incapable of Addressing the Real Issues that Really Matter?

by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty -vs- Tyranny Birth control "mandate" compared to Pearl Harbor and 911 by the Neanderthal right. Imagine, certain elements of the Republican party apparently believe their archaic and judgmental position with respect to contraceptives and the ACA mandate that businesses cover birth control will win them support and ultimately votes. A waste of time and energy methinks. Especially given what polls indicate the majority of the public thinks. THE HILL - House Republicans called the Obama administration's birth-control mandate "religious bigotry" and compared it to the events of Pearl Harbor and Sept. 11, 2001. The heated remarks came at a press conference marking the mandate's first day. "I know in your mind you can think of the times America was attacked," said Rep. Mike Kelly (R-Pa.), a freshman. "One is December 7 — that is Pearl Harbor Day. Another was September 11 — that was the da...

Romney Clarity... ?

Image
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty -s- Tyranny Romney speak, from The Hill : Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney argued Tuesday that if the president's signature healthcare legislation was overturned Thursday by the Supreme Court, it would mean that President Obama's first term was a waste. "Instead of focusing on immigration — and of course the big issue, which was the economy, and getting the economy going — he instead focused on putting in place his healthcare reform called ObamaCare," Romney said at a campaign stop in Salem, Va. "As you know, the Supreme Court is going to be dealing with whether or not ObamaCare is constitutional. If it's not, if ObamaCare is not deemed constitutional, than the first three and a half years of this president's term will have been wasted on something that does not help the American people." So, Mittens, does this mean that if the Affordable Care Act; aka ObamaCare, is de...

Lets Get Beyond Hyperbole and Discuss the Demerits as Well as the Merits (if any) of the Issue...

Image
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty -vs- Tyranny It has allegedly been said as one gets older they get wiser. This is quite probable as the experiences of a long and productive life gives a person many references that naturally become part of their life experience and mold their philosophy of existence. Of course that assumes the individual chooses to use reality and the truth of rational unemotional thought to guide them. Both in their analysis as well as their ultimate conclusions on every important issue of their life. I was not a advocate nor a supporter of William Jefferson Clinton in his hay day as President and Commander in Chief. He was, as they say, just a bit too progressive as well as being a bit untrustworthy. I shall leave it to Hillary to clarify the forgoing statement. Forgive me as I have digressed... I stumbled across the following article published today in THE DAILY BEAST , a leftist rag I rarely visit. On the rare occasions when I do i typi...

ObamaCare Lacks Majority Support as SCOTUS Considers It's Fate...

Image
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty -vs- Tyranny It is clear the majority of United States citizens are not in favor of ObamaCare (ACA) at this time. The individual mandate, a provision which allows the government to require all persons purchase government mandated health care (through coercive force of monetary penalties) is the least supported aspect of ACA. New York Times - More than two-thirds of Americans hope the Supreme Court will overturn some or all of the 2010 health care law, according to a new poll conducted by The New York Times and CBS News. Just 24 percent said they hoped the court “would keep the entire health care law in place.” The Supreme Court is expected to decide a challenge to the law by the end of this month. Forty-one percent of those surveyed said the court should strike down the entire law, and another 27 percent said the justices should overturn only the individual mandate, which requires most Americans to obtain health insurance or p...

Justice Kennedy, the Tie Breaker?...

Image
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty - VS - Tyranny Anthony Kennedy, SCJ { National Review }- Since the retirement of Sandra Day O’Connor, Swingin’ Anthony Kennedy has been the swingingest swinger on the Supreme Court, the big Numero Cinco on all those 5–4 white-knuckle nail-biting final scores. So naturally Court observers have been paying close attention to his interventions in the Obamacare oral arguments. So far he doesn’t sound terribly persuaded by the administration’s line: This reminds me of a friend and business associate that at one time was on the Board of Selectmen in a small town. The board was comprised of three selectmen and as the other two on the board always took opposites positions on almost every issue it essentially left my friend in control of the political agenda in the town. Talk about about having all the power. This is precisely the position Justice Kennedy will find himself in should the remaining justices split four and four. Certainly ...

Contraception, the Federal Mandate, and the Church

Image
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty -vs- Tyranny In case anybody is paying attention, I mean really paying attention, the liberals are winning the high ground over the whole contraceptive issue with respect to ObamaCare. I mean the majority of Americans, including Catholics use some form of contraceptives, whether it be the use of a condom or the pill. Those are the facts. Feel free to check them out for yourselves. Obama's mandate, which requires health insures to provide coverage for contraceptives with no co-pay or deductible is really a Godsend (no pun intended) for those who use contraceptives. I mean what's better than free birth control for all? Given this is the 21'st century, and a whole bunch of the religious dogma dating to antiquity is no longer observed and held to be the gospel by the majority of Americans (Catholic or otherwise) this is bound to gain votes for Obama. Especially among women and particularly the younger set. Mark my words. T...
