Huntsman Supports Marriage Equality...

Image
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty -vs- Tyranny John Huntsman - Former Governor of Utah and Ambassador to China There are many things to like about Jon Huntsman. A fiscal conservative Republican with libertarian leanings on some issues he has come out strong for marriage equality. This is one issues the republican leadership and representatives in Congress would do well to follow his lead. THINKPROGRESS - Former GOP Presidential candidate and Utah governor Jon Huntsman has endorsed marriage equality. Huntsman, a Mormon whose previous support for civil unions set him (and libertarian Gary Johnson) apart from an otherwise virulently anti-gay field, came out in favor of equal marriage rights in an essay in The American Conservative entitled “Marriage Equality Is a Conservative Cause.” In the piece, Huntsman argued that if the Republican Party wants to survive, it needs to be able to appeal to gay Americans and the growing majority of all Americans that support marri...

According To Jon Huntsman the Republican Party is 'Devoid of a Soul'... He Might Be Right

Image
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty -vs- Tyranny While Governor Huntsman was not my favorite to land the rEpublican nomination in 2012 (Ron Paul was) looking back he would have made a formidable candidate in the effort to unseat President Obama. Instead the party nominated Mittens the Flip Flopper Romney and we all know the results of that brilliant move to pacify the more (false) conservatives in the rEpublican Oligarchical power structure. Unless the party wakes up and gets some sense it will pay a lasting price as America, including America's real conservatives and libertarians move on to a new era. Jon Huntsman should figure predominately in a new future for the rEpublican party. The Telegraph - The Republican Party is leaderless and "devoid of a soul" but can rebuild in the wake of its election defeat if it embraces its history of supporting limited government, Jon Huntsman has said. In an interview with the Daily Telegraph, the former Utah gover...

Former Utah Governor and Republican Presidential Hopeful Jon Huntsman Announces He Will Not Be Attending National Convention...

Image
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty -vs- Tyranny Like I just mentioned in the prior post... The Salt Lake Tribune - ... former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman won’t attend next month’s Republican National Convention or future GOP gatherings until the party starts to tackle the "bigger" issues. "I will not be attending this year’s convention, nor any Republican convention in the future," Huntsman said, "until the party focuses on a bigger, bolder, more confident future for the United States — a future based on problem solving, inclusiveness, and a willingness to address the trust deficit, which is every bit as corrosive as our fiscal and economic deficits." Huntsman had racked up two national delegates with his third-place finish in New Hampshire and another from the Texas primary, a point that could have guaranteed him a speaking role. The former Utah governor was uninvited to a Republican National Committee event in Florida in March after h...

Jon Huntsman... A Consevative Candidate Worth Considering

Image
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty -vs- Tyranny Jon Huntsman Rational Nation USA has posted on just about every republican presidential hopeful in the field. All unflattering for the most part. Ron Paul being the single exception. Until today. While this site remains supportive of, and advocates for Ron Paul's candidacy Jon Huntsmen offers a second choice for those, who like me, can barely stomach Newtie, Mittens, Ricky, or Mr Fine Hair. Jon Huntsman has a wealth of experience as a ambassador, trade representative, and governor of the conservative state of Utah. He has by more credentials as a conservative than Mittens or Newtie. This is clearly illustrated in an article in The State, South Carolina's Homepage Sunday edition. AFTER MONTHS of flirting with candidates who considered inexperience an asset, obstinance and vitriol a virtue and extremism — even flakiness — a job requirement, Republican voters seem to be settling down. Increasingly, they a...

Jon Huntsman... Deserving of a Second Look?

Image
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty -v s- Tyranny Jon Huntsman. Another long shot republican hopeful. While not plugging him he deserves serious consideration. Not only is he the only republican candidate with foreign policy experience he is measured and reasonable. A politician with executive experience, foreign policy experience and a message that will resonate with many if he can stays in the race. Huntsman doesn't have the baggage being carried by some others in the race for the republican nomination. The Hill - Hours before the first Republican presidential debate to focus on foreign policy, Jon Huntsman released a web video to capitalize on the only issue where he has the clear advantage over his competitors. The video starts with a montage of Huntsman's opponents making inaccurate or contradictory statements about other countries, while melancholy piano music plays in a minor key. “So, yes they’re a military threat," Herman Cain says of C...
