Rev. Al Sharpton Sounding Concerned...

Rational Nation USA Purveyor of Truth Never have cracked for Al Sharpton and will say right up front I likely never will. Having said the above I must say I agree with Sharpton's analysis that Senator Rand Paul's efforts to reach out to the black community could hurt the democrats in 2016 should Paul be the eventual nominee. If Senator Paul is sincere, if he convincingly demonstrates his understanding of the black community's concerns and acts accordingly over the next two years he, and the republican sate could be quite formidable. That would not be a bad thing. Republicans must begin recognizing the nation's changing demographics and the concerns, aspirations, fears, and the realities this change will bring. Responsible fiscal conservatives need to take the reigns of the party (from the hands of the most virulent Tea Party folks) and give American's of all persuasions multiple reasons to vote FOR them rather than against the democrats. The issues faci...

Sen. Rand Paul Putting Republican Desperation on National Display Again...

by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation U S A Purveyor of Truth It's 1998, a sitting United States President has a liaison with a white house intern. The United States House of Representatives votes in favor of Articles of Impeachment and William Jefferson Clinton is the second president in United States history to be impeached. The United States Senate does NOT convict President Clinton and the matter is dropped, as set forth in the United States Constitution. Fast forward sixteen years to 2014. Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, a presumable 2016 republican presidential candidate brings the issue of the Clinton sexual dalliances to the forefront once again. This in response to the current democratic party claim that conservatives, and republicans in particular are waging a war against women. So, a 1998 Congress impeaches the President, the Senate does not convict, the President serves out his second term of what was essentially a successful administration, and Senator Rand Paul...

Senator Rand Paul Losing Credibility...

Image
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty -vs- Tyranny Senator Rand Paul ( R-Ky) If the following report is true Rand Paul, Republican Senator from Kentucky has succeeded, at least IMO, in losing a great deal of his credibility. Partisan politics and less than completely ethical tactics have pretty much been a staple in recent years from both parties. Senator Rand Paul has just elevated the practice to a new level. I'll let The Huffington Post fill in the details. WASHINGTON -- Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) moved this week to hold a noncontroversial flood insurance bill hostage until the Senate agrees that life begins at fertilization. The bill, which would financially boost the National Flood Insurance Program on the cusp of hurricane season, had been expected to pass easily in the Senate. But since Paul on Monday offered an unrelated "fetal personhood" amendment, which would give legal protections to fetuses from the moment of fertilization, Senate Majorit...

Rand Paul, His Own Man...

Image
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty -vs- Tyranny It is refreshing to read something like this from an elected official that actually has the interests of We the People in mind. We are all hopeful I'm sure that Senator Rand Paul lives by these words and stands for the people. If he does he has a bright future in American politics and governance. National Review - Much has been speculated and written since my endorsement of Mitt Romney for president. Many in the liberty movement and my longtime supporters wondered if, as a result of endorsing someone for office, I would stand up to them when they went astray. The question to me is as strange as the answer is simple: Yes, strongly. Every time. I have always done what I believe and I have never been blinded by party. In my time in the United States Senate, I have opposed the USA Patriot Act, voted against the NDAA over indefinite detention, fought to end mandatory minimum drug sentences, and voted against my par...
