This words above are those of Thomas Paine, the author of Common Sense, and the individual that was largely responsible for galvanizing public opinion against the British Crown. Thomas Paine, perhaps more than any other single man, was responsible for sowing the seeds that grew into the American Revolution. Over the ensuing 233 years we have grown to take for granted the liberties men like Thomas Paine, and those of his generation fought so hard to gain. We have lost sight of the fact that liberty is a prize worth fighting for, and once won that only a strong vigilance can insure that liberty is not lost. The founders of our great nation understood civil society must be bound by ethical principals, and laws based on such principals need be established for society to flourish. They knew as well...
