Drama of American Politics... GOP Style

Perhaps American politicians have principles. Some, like Ron Paul(at least for the most part} even stick to their principles. Which of course provides others the desired fodder to attack with a vengeance. Others, like Michelle Backmann, who is of little substance have their campaign managers defecting to "the other" campaign. Michelle lost her Iowa manager to, Oh Dread, none other than... the Paul campaign! Then we have Rick Santorum, another horse of the {fringe} religious right taking third in what is the newest surge in GOP primary politics. How many does that make for the GOP (Grand Old Poop)he tast couple of months? I've lost track. But I'm sure there is more to come. Thoughts For Tomorrow... and the Day After, etc.

by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty -v s- Tyranny The Thanksgiving Holiday, and the long weekend that accompany's it for many draws to a close tonight. With its closing comes the Christmas holiday season,  and the many stresses associated with the Christmas holiday. Add to that the economic stress, political polarization, and brinksmanship that is so commonplace in America today and it is a wonder we haven't split at the seems. But it is still early. Perhaps it will be the eventual outcome. Rational Nation USA,   while maintaining the sites core beliefs , has recently reached across the seemingly great divide that separates today's liberals and all others in hopes of  finding common ground. Unfortunately there are few amongst the liberal camp that are interested in extending the same in return. For those of you who have,  you know who you are. I tilt my head in appreciation. Is There a Rational Reason Why We Blog?

by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Birthplace of Independent Conservatism Been thinking of late just why those of us who blog, often spending hours away from family, choose to do so. I suppose, and I am just guessing at this, we blog because we hope to make a difference. At least that is why I chose to get into this crazy endeavor over eighteen months ago. I must admit, however, the effort has far exceed the rewards. Unless of course one counts personal satisfaction as the highest measure of success. In this particular consideration I guess I am left with that comforting thought. In a much broader sense the principles and values one holds to be true is likely the driver behind why we as individuals choose to blog. We all, if we are honest with ourselves, are striving to change minds and make a difference in this crazy mixed up world we live in....
