Trump's Achilles Heel and He Doesn't Even Recognize It....

Trump and some ultra conservatives in the GOP have decided that the economy, jobs, and of course profits, are much too important to continue the actions ALL medical and science professionals are advising the nation to follow in combatting the spread of Covid-19.  The efforts to flatten the curve and significantly mitigate community spread depends on following the advice of those who know what they're talking about. They are advising Easter is too soon and will very likely result in the virus sickening and killing more people. There is a rapidly approaching shortage of ventilators,  beds, and other critical supplies as well. The GOP as usual is not thinking with a clear and rational head. Americans will die unnecessarily as a result if Trump follows through with his apparent plans.

For anyone who has been paying attention (those with a clear and rational mind) it has become increasingly evident that Trump has been and remains completely out of his element during this developing crisis. His leaning towards having everyone back to work and the economy roaring by Easter  is more evidence that your president really does not care about the people he has a responsibility to protect. Why many Governors understand there responsibility at the state level and the president doesn't should be enough to make a VERY BIG change come November 2020.

With President Trump saying he wants “the country opened” by Easter to salvage the U.S. economy, a fierce debate is now raging among policymakers over the necessity of shutting down vast swaths of American society to combat the novel coronavirus.
Health experts point to overwhelming evidence from around the world that closing businesses and schools and minimizing social contact are crucial to avoid exponentially mounting infections. Ending the shutdown now in America would be disastrous, many say, because the country has barely given those restrictions time to work, and because U.S. leaders have not pursued alternative strategies used in other countries to avert the potential deaths of hundreds of thousands.
But in recent days an increasing number of political conservatives have argued that the economic cost is too high. At a town hall broadcast Tuesday, Trump suggested dire consequences if at least some economic sectors aren’t restored.
“You’re going to lose more people by putting a country into a massive recession or depression,” Trump said. “… You’re going to have all sorts of things happen, you’re going to have instability. You can’t just come in and say let’s close up the United States of America, the biggest, the most successful country in the world by far."
At the event, Trump amplified a message that has been bubbling among conservative pundits in recent days. Speaking of the economy, he said, “The faster we go back, the better it’s going to be.”
The stance has many worried, including some in the president’s own party. “There will be no normally functioning economy if our hospitals are overwhelmed and thousands of Americans of all ages, including our doctors and nurses, lay dying because we have failed to do what’s necessary to stop the virus,” Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), the House’s highest-ranking Republican woman, wrote in a Tuesday tweet.
But the greatest alarm has come from scientists, epidemiologists and health experts who have spent the past three months studying the new coronavirus and have witnessed the destructive, contagious swath it has cut through other countries.
“To be a week into these restrictions and already be talking about abandoning them is irresponsible and dangerous,” said Tom Inglesby, director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security. Removing restrictions now would allow the virus, he said, to “spread widely, rapidly, terribly, and could kill potentially millions in the year ahead with huge social and economic impact.”
While not mentioning the president by name, Bill Gates — who co-founded Microsoft and now leads a global health foundation — rebuked Trump’s approach in a Tuesday interview with TED: “There really is no middle ground, and it’s very tough to say to people: ‘Hey, keep going to restaurants, go buy new houses, ignore that pile of bodies over in the corner. We want you to keep spending because there’s maybe a politician who thinks GDP growth is all that counts.’”
And there you have it folks. Your president is more concerned about the numbers, corporations, and the bottom line (remember his and his family's  businesses are making profit off his being in the White House) than he is about your health and welfare.

Trump's Legacy...

WASHINGTON—Calling for an end to precautions such as social distancing and shelter-in-place mandates, President Donald Trump urged the loosening of CDC restrictions Tuesday to let Covid-19 get to work. “The economy is hurting—we must send the coronavirus back into our office buildings, schools, and factories,” said Trump, explaining that the nation cannot risk the possibility of the number of new cases and deaths crashing. “We need those numbers up! This is America, and work is important here. Without work, the virus has no purpose. Right now, there are millions of virus particles just sitting around and doing nothing. The coronavirus wants to work, so we’re going to put it back to work as soon as possible.” At press time, the Dow had skyrocketed as the coronavirus returned in full strength back into the American workforce.

Trump's Response To The Covid-19 Pandemic Was Inept As Well Short Sighted - A Trump Pattern...

The con's of the USA, trumpers specifically, are falling all over themselves denying the truth around Covid-19 and their Idol's response to it. Actually,  it is far more accurate to say his inept and detrimental response to it.

The following was noticed at a far right wing pro Trump echo chamber.

Actually, it will most likely be a recession, goosing rabid Democrats to say such absurdities as "Trump wrecked Obama's Economy," as if its the president's fault that people are eating bats in China.

Another common outburst of idiocy from Democrat blabber-holes: Ha Ha! Socialism is saving capitalism when the markets failed! Trump's a socialist now... etc.

All Bullshit. This economic downturn was caused by a communist regime hiding the facts for two months.

The downturn is exacerbated by federal, state and local governments ordering businesses to close, throwing millions out of work.

No economy, no matter how strong, can survive that

The following, from a legitimate news outlet with the FACTS in response.

History will record that Donald Trump was asleep at the switch while a deadly virus derailed the United States. We can only hope the next president gets the nation back on the right track.
At a campaign rally in South Carolina on Feb. 28 the president claimed Democrats had politicized the coronavirus outbreak and it was “their new hoax”. Before that, on Jan. 22, the president said, “We have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China. It’s going to be just fine.” Since then, thousands of Americans have been infected, some have died, the economy is on the verge of collapse — and the worst is yet to come.
After dismissing COVID-19 as a hoax, Trump finally declared a state of emergency on Friday, March 13. The president of the United States should be an international and national leader, but Trump’s tardy declaration followed aggressive action by prime ministers and American governors who were much more proactive.

The SOONER everybody realizes this, we're talking about the trumper cons specifically, the better chance we have of absolutely minimizing the death toll from this fast spreading pandemic.

The Weekend Shopping In the Time of Covid-19...

Covid-19, aka Corona virus, or the beer virus as I like to call it is being hyped 24/7 by the cable news outlets. While it is good, as well as absolutely necessary, to equip the public with as much information and knowledge possible so people can better protect themselves from the virus the sense of hysteria created by the networks is unnecessary and foolish.

Fear makes folks do things they otherwise wouldn't do. So, the networks constant over hyped non-stop chatter beyond just the facts and what best to do to protect yourself (mostly all common sense stuff) is nothing short of fostering fear  in folks. The result, for one we find out toilet paper is more important to folks in a crises than food apparently is. Let me explain.

Yesterday was the regular shopping day for the better half and me. After breakfast we went to our usual stores for food, paper products, and items from the pharmacy. Much to our annoyance a lot of stuff was out of stock. Now food and water was not a problem. Other than water was in more limited supply and so we had to mix and match brands to get the amount we normally buy. Of course hand sanitizer was sold out, alcohol was sold out, toilet paper sold out, paper towels sold out, sanitizing wipes sold out, and,  I'm sure I've missed a couple of things.

So we proceeded to three other stores that we normally don't shop at. Same story. Same items out of stock. So we called it quits and decided to try a few other places we normally don't shop at much Sunday (today). Off we went after breakfast searching for the above named items. After a an hour or so we decided to call it quits. Nothing to be had anywhere. So, what to do about toilet paper. Now our number 1 problem.

Then it struck me like a lightening bolt! Buy boxes of unscented and unprinted facial tissue and a few dozen containers of flushable baby wipes. Problem solved. Poop and wipe with three or four baby wipes and then dry wipe with facial tissues until dry. Step 3 is put the dry wipe tissues in a plastic sandwich baggie, seal, and into the garbage outdoors it goes.

Back to the 24/7 over hyped continual loop of Covid-19 hysteria. Next week is another week sure to be rife with more of the same. But for now anyway the old posterior will be kept fresh. Perhaps Trump can encourage TP makers to ramp up TP production.

Truth To Power...

The words below ring true to the ears of those who understanding that Trump, the conservative  SCOTUS, and HIS GOP present the greatest internal threat to our democratic republic than  seen since the War Between the States.
Supreme Court Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. speaks at Belmont University in Nashville in February 2019. (Mark Humphrey/AP)
Lynn S. Adelman, a U.S. district judge in Milwaukee, has riled conservatives by publishing a blistering critique of the Supreme Court’s record under Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr., focusing on a string of decisions that he argues have fostered “economic inequality,” “undermined democracy” and “increased the political power of corporations and wealthy individuals” at the expense of ordinary Americans.
Adelman also criticized President Trump, who he wrote ran as a populist but failed to deliver “policies beneficial to the general public. … While Trump’s temperament is that of an autocrat,” Adelman wrote, “he is disinclined to buck the wealthy individuals and corporations who control his party.”
The article by Adelman was all the more unusual because it went after the chief justice directly. Roberts, he said, was “misleading” in his 2005 confirmation hearing testimony when he pledged to be a passive “umpire” calling balls and strikes.
Adelman called that metaphor a “masterpiece of disingenuous,” saying the court under Roberts “has been anything but passive” as its “hard right majority” has actively participated in “undermining American democracy.”

Just Some Thoughts...

There's has been an interesting exercise going on over at the Big L libertarian blog of Franco Aragosta over the past few days. It started with Franco putting up a post essentially defending the proprietor of Progressive Eruptions, Shaw Kenawe. Without going into great detail, you can click on the link for detail, Franco elaborated on their once friendly and cordial relationship. Franco pointed out many of what he seems to truly believes are the many fine qualities of  Ms.Shaw Kenawe. He also acknowledges that politically he and Ms. Shaw are on opposite poles and that he despises her politics. However, Franco makes it perfectly clear that he has never held Ms. Shaw's political leanings against her and indeed wishes that they could have remained friends. A loss I should mention he assigns responsibility for to Ms. Shaw.

Before going further, I am not defending OR criticizing Mr. Franco on this post. That IS emphatically NOT the purpose of this post. I AM posting this in hopes that even a few people might see it, read Mr. Franco's posts at his weblog on the subject, and then reflect on the real intent and purpose of Mr. Franco's posts. For that is what I did and came away with a better understanding of him as well as seeing better what and how political extremes are doing to DIVIDE our democratic republic. As a wise man once said, together we stand, divided we all

Being a small L libertarian I believe as adamantly as anyone in individual liberties and the rule of law. I despise the belief that ANY individual in a position of power has the right to deny me, or anyone else, their rights under the law. On the other hand I believe government serves many societal purposes. Among them is the altruistic actions necessary to insure that those less fortunate or capable than many do not have to live in poverty without adequate health care. Even Thomas Paine way back in the late seventeen hundred understood the need for social security. For these reasons, among others, Franco and I also became almost mortal enemies. But enough of that.

As stated above I read and reflected on Franco's posts. As well as reading all the comments left by those in his community that generally share his political views. After doing so, several times, I came away with the sincere belief that Mr. Franco was indeed sharing his true feelings towards Ms. Shaw and that he decided to defend Ms. Shaw in the hopes that his "regulars" might end their impolite and very rude bashing of Ms. Shaw simply because of their political differences. Franco has, as long as I've been aware of him, refrained from saying anything negative about MS. Shaw. Other than he despised what he believes is her misguided politics. The same CANNOT be said of many of his regulars.

What I found unusual is that many of the members of Shaw's community expressed on her weblog that Franco was actually setting up his blog with those posts so others in his community would have the opportunity to bash Ms. Shaw for him while he played "good cop" so to speak. On the other hand members of Mr. Franco's community, while not hyper critical of Franco, they did express their usual negative sentiments and sometimes in very vulgar offensive language. This isn't really important but I fail to understand the responses from Mr. Franco's community or Ms. Shaw's community.

Unless, and until, we find  ways to openly discuss our difference honestly, respectfully, without manipulation and ego centric postures,  this nation will remain seriously divided. Further, the longer we remain divided and at each others throats the worse the divisions will become. Which is also a point made by Mr. Franco.

In closing, as creatures of divine love we are all brothers and sisters. It is time to start acting like it. Myself included.

PS: While I still disagree with several of Mr. Franco's positions, as well as not understanding his support of Donald J. Trump, I have found a new respect for Franco. Specifically because of his recent efforts relative to the subject of this post.

As Trump Continues To Lie...

Anyone who has been paying even a minimal amount of attention since Trump's fateful election to presidency knows he is a pathological liar and a con man extraordinaire. Every motivation of his is driven by his extreme narcissism and lust for total power and control. He will do anything, no matter how deceitful and underhanded to accomplish his  tyrannical goals. For the student of history he or she knows the personality and character traits of Trump mirror those of some of the worlds worst tyrants. Only by the grace of the system of government established by our founders have we escaped the vice grip Trump, the GOP, and their Evangelical supporters wish to impose on every American citizen. Which means, to deny them THEIR God given right to self determination. But they are continuing to try and will not stop until soundly defeated at the polls.

Perhaps this into to the article that follows is a bit dramatic. But as the article demonstrates Trump and the GOP are all about manipulation of facts in such a way as to influence the observer to believe and accept misleading or false information. This MO (modus operandi) is, and always has been, Trump's hallmark signature. Dishonesty, deceit, and corruption is a way of life for Donald J. Trump.

The clip, which was viewed more than 5.8 million times and retweeted more than 34,000 times as of Sunday morning at 10 AM, showed Biden struggling with a line in his Saturday speech in Kansas City, Missouri, then saying, "Excuse me. We can only re-elect Donald Trump."
But the clip was edited to cut out the second part of Biden's sentence. What the former vice president actually said was this: "Excuse me. We can only re-elect Donald Trump if in fact we get engaged in this circular firing squad here. It's gotta be a positive campaign." Biden had called for an end to "negative attacks" in his primary contest with Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.
Trump retweeted the dishonestly edited clip late Saturday night, sharing a version tweeted by White House social media director Dan Scavino -- who incorrectly said the video was taken in St. Louis, where Biden spoke earlier on Saturday. (Biden had delivered another version of the line in the St. Louis speech.)
Biden campaign spokesperson Andrew Bates said Trump "has made it inescapably clear that he's terrified of Joe Biden."
"It's not surprising that Trump's re-election campaign is resorting to more disinformation about the Vice President -- after all, Trump himself is so panicked about Joe Biden that he got himself impeached trying to force a foreign country to lie about him," Bates said.
Trump has put Biden's verbal slip-ups at the forefront of his early message against his potential general election opponent. The Trump campaign made a concerted effort Saturday to amplify the dishonestly edited clip. Campaign manager Brad Parscale, the campaign's "war room" account, and campaign senior legal adviser Jenna Ellis all shared it.
The clip was also tweeted by prominent conservative radio host Mark Levin and conservative websites such as Townhall and RedState -- and by some Sanders supporters with substantial Twitter audiences.
Make NO MISTAKE, this is exactly how Trump, his campaign, the GOP, and his sycophant supporters have, are, and WILL conmtinue to operate right up until the election, and beyond if reelected.  Ask yourself one simple qeustion, do I really want to support and vote for a man who I know the country will never be able to trust, Or, would I want to entrust Trump with my children or grand children's welfare for even a moment?
I certainly know the answer to those qestions without a single moment of hesitation.

SCOTUS To Soon Hear Trump's Arguments in Trump-vs-Mazars and Trump-vs-Deutsche Bank

What folows should concern every American patriot that believes the powersof the President should be limited. That his function is to insure the will of the people of the USA, through their elected representatives AND the rule of law is properly administered. Conservative writer David Frum puts forth invaluable observations for us to consider.
Sometime before June 29, 2020, the U.S. Supreme Court will either plunge the United States into the severest constitutional crisis of the Trump years—or save Americans from that crisis.
Three different committees of Congress, as well as New York State prosecutors, have issued subpoenas to President Donald Trump’s accountants and bankers for his tax and business records. Trump has sued to stop the accountants and bankers from complying. He has lost twice at the district-court level and twice at the appeals-court level. Now he is looking to the conservative majority on the Supreme Court to rescue him.
On March 31, the court will hear oral arguments in the cases of Trump v. Mazars and Trump v. Deutsche Bank. The decision will be rendered sometime between then and the court’s summer break.
Although Trump is suing his accountants and his bankers as a private citizen, his case has been joined by the Department of Justice. Solicitor General Noel Francisco has signed an amicus brief on behalf of the United States. It is an astonishing document. It invites the Supreme Court to junk two centuries of precedent—and to substitute an entirely new system of judicial review of congressional subpoenas that involve a president.
A legislative subpoena must therefore satisfy heightened requirements when it seeks information from the President. At the threshold, the full chamber should unequivocally authorize a subpoena against the President. Moreover, the legislative purpose should be set forth with specificity. Courts should not presume that the purpose is legitimate, but instead should scrutinize it with care. And as with information protected by executive privilege, information sought from the President should be demonstrably critical to the legislative purpose. A congressional committee cannot evade these heightened requirements merely by directing the subpoena to third-party custodians, for such agents generally assume the rights and privileges of their principal, as this Court has recognized in analogous cases.
All the requirements in that above paragraph were devised for purposes of this litigation. None of them has ever been enforced—none of them has ever been imagined—in the previous 230 years of skirmishing between Congresses and presidents. Every must and should and cannot was invented in this very brief, for the immediate legal purposes of this president in this dilemma. The solicitor general might as well have said that subpoenas must be delivered by a sled pulled by flying reindeer, for all the connection between these demands and the previous constitutional history of the United States.

As the House of Representatives noted in the brief it filed, previous Congresses have obtained the bank records of Presidents Andrew Johnson and Jimmy Carter, and the tax records of President Richard Nixon. They have read the diaries of President Ronald Reagan and the law-firm billing records of first lady Hillary Clinton.
It’s never before been the law that a subpoena of the president must be authorized by “the full chamber,” much less that this authorization be “unequivocal”—whatever that means.
It’s never before been the law that the president’s privileges—whatever they are—also extend to his private business agents.
It’s never before been the law that the courts set themselves over Congress as scrutinizers of its subpoenas, approving or disapproving. Until now, instead, courts have always extended the utmost deference to congressional investigations, from the first Washington administration onward.
The Trump administration cannot cite case law for any of its new demands. It quotes few cases, very briefly and tangentially, and strikingly often with ellipses in the middle of the quote. Instead, it bases its argument on its own vision of the awesome and unassailable power of the presidency...
What is most troublesome are these words from the above... it bases its argument on its own vision of the awesome and unassailable powers of the president.

Warren Urged by National Organization for Women Not to Endorse Sanders: He Has 'Done Next to Nothing for Women'

This is certainly a NOT too subtle message to women. It remains to be seen whether the democratic and independent  female voting population will respond accordingly in the voting both. It is likely however that fewer women will be voting for Sanders,  unless he is able to effectively counter their claim with a positive rebuttal based on demonstrated history. A long shot at best. Biden is smiling we're pretty sure.

Trump Is Vulnerable... If Democrats and Independents Stick Together!

There are not enough voters out there who like Trump for him to get reelected- his only path is for Sanders backers to refuse to vote Biden or for Biden backers to refuse to vote Sanders if their candidate of choice doesn’t win the Democratic nomination. The race is going to be a toss up even if anti-Trump voters don’t fully come together- but it may not even end up being that close if they do come together.

If the above is true, and we believe it is, it is the VERY BEST thing for this nation. Trump, a divisive (by design) individual, a pathological liar, a misogynist, a racist,  a "man" without a conscience, a leader with a very minimal grasp of the complexities of the geopolitical realities of our time, and in general a not very smart person must go. Before he is allowed to do further damage to our international relations as well as further divide our once unified country.

For all the reasons noted above (and more) Democrats MUST  win the Presidency in November. As the opening accurately points out Democrats  ABSOLUTELY must be prepared to support whichever candidate receives the democrats nomination. And their support must be genuine, passionate, energetic, and they all MUST go to their polling places and cast their ballot for the nominee of their party. No this... A fractured or splintered democratic party INSURES the reelection of Donald J. Trump. Which would be an unmitigated disaster for our democratic republic.

I am a former republican turned independent and I know I'll be casting my vote for the democratic party's nominee. Additionally, to really right the ship and begin repairing the damage done by Trump will require democrats retain the house and take back the senate. So, vote democratic across the board. By marginalizing the power of the minority GOP (Trump sycophants all save Mitt Romney) we CAN get this nation back on the right path and begin to MAGA.

"If [Donald Trump] is the best that American Christians can do, then God help us," says the first digital ad from the Lincoln Project, a grouping of Never Trump Republicans including George Conway, Steve Schmidt, Ron Steslow, John Weaver and Rick Wilson.

The ad compares the president's religious statements with videos of him speaking rudely and Evangelical leaders giving him over-the-top praise.

"Beware of false prophets," it warns American Christians. "Which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves - Matthew 7:15."

Trump Sues The Washington Post...

EXCLUSIVE: The Trump campaign filed a libel lawsuit against the Washington Post for “millions of dollars” on Tuesday for publishing “false and defamatory statements” about an alleged conspiracy with Russia.
The complaint obtained by Fox News was filed in the U.S. District Court in Washington D.C. by attorneys David C. Tobin and Charles J. Harder. It points to a pair of Post articles published in June 2019 that included statements tying the Trump campaign to foreign campaign interference.
The statements were and are 100 percent false and defamatory. The complaint alleges The Post was aware of the falsity at the time it published them, but did so for the intentional purpose of hurting the campaign, while misleading its own readers in the process,” Senior Legal Adviser to Donald J. Trump for President, Inc. Jenna Ellis said in a statement, adding the Post reported “a conspiracy” as a fact.
The complaint claims that Greg Sargent’s June 13 article, “Trump just invited another Russian attack. Mitch McConnell is making one more likely,” contained the defamatory statement that Special Counsel Robert Mueller concluded that Trump’s campaign “tried to conspire with” a “sweeping and systematic” attack by Russia during the 2016 election.
The complaint called the remark “false and defamatory,” noting that the opposite is actually true.
“The Mueller Report concluded there was no conspiracy between the Campaign and the Russian government, and no United States person intentionally coordinated with Russia’s efforts to interfere with the 2016 election,” the complaint said.
A second Post article by Paul Waldman that was published on June 20 headlined, “Trump: I can win reelection with just my base,” included the comment, “Who knows what sort of aid Russia and North Korea will give to the Trump campaign, now that he has invited them to offer their assistance?”
The complaint said that this observation is also “false and defamatory” because there “has never been any statement by anyone associated with the Campaign or the administration ‘inviting’ Russia or North Korea to assist the campaign in 2019 or beyond.”
The Trump campaign feels the Post was “well aware at the time of publishing the foregoing statements that they were not true” but published then anyway.
Trump is certainly acting in a manner in syncwith his demented and totally dishonest character. Why exactly anyone would believe anything Trump lets pass through his gaping maw is an absolute mystery to a thinking person who values honesty and decency. All one should needs to know is that he has amassed a record of over 15,000 lies as of December 10, 2019. An average of almost 20 lies per day. Certainly a record any sane person would consider completely unacceptable for ANYONE, let alone the president of the USA. Trump knows he can get away with iot because he knows hjis stooges and cultists will stand by him regardless of his of honesty.
