Senator Bernie Sanders Considering a 2016 Presidential Candidacy...

Rational Nation USA Purveyor of Truth As an advocate of equal opportunity for all; rather than the equai results for all that some prograssives and socialists hold out as the ultimate end, it is hard to imagine ever supporting a candidate for president such as Senator Bernie Sanders. With income disparity between the very rich and the middle to lower economic strata continuing to increase it is likely the appeal for progressive/socialist politicians like Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders will grow as well. Conservative republican and libertarian thinkers and politicians would be well served revisiting the social and economic conditions of the country's populace each time a progressive candidate has won the White House and liberal thinking grew in congress. Senator Sanders likely sees the times as being ripe for a socialist president in America. Candidates advocating capitalism really need to step back and begin viewing things long range and with respect to the contry...

Lets Talk Socialism...

by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation U S A Purveyor of Truth While looking for something of interest, since the daily regular debates are getting rather stale and becoming pointless in my never humble opinion, I stumbled upon The Free Capitalist Network and decided to stay awhile. During my meandering through the site I came across a interesting comment post. The comment was posted in 2011 by EmperorNero . All socialist countries are poor, and all poor countries are, or have until recently been, socialist. All rich countries are capitalist, and all capitalist countries are rich. I would be interested in some counterexamples or arguments against this rule. It seems to hold true as long as we are clear what we mean by " socialism ". Socialism here is defined as government ownership/control of the means of production, and not in the 'European meaning' of capitalism with welfarism, or the 'original meaning' of absence of private property rights. (Emphasis m...

A Progressive Says... " Five Economic Reforms Millennials Should Be Fighting For"

by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation U S A Purveyor of Truth If anyone has ANY doubts as to whether the progressive movement, and it's socialist agenda is ALL about turning this nation into a SOCIALIST country you really, realty need to NEED to read this . Now I get that capitalism in the USA has really botched things up in a big way. Government, in cahoots with business, has developed a huge crony capitalist system whereby subsidies (the taxpayers money) prop up businesses that otherwise would fail. Businesses (industries) cry for regulations that hamper their better competitors from more effectively, and at a lower cost, serving their customers at a higher level of efficiency. Labor unions, now clamoring for a ridiculously high minimum wage see no correlation between the effect of increased costs to the businesses and the effect it will have on the price of product or service to the consumer. Our government, and it hasn't been just the democrats, has been moving to...

Obama the Socialist, or Is He? Listen to the Voice of One Who Knows...

by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty -vs- Tyranny at the 44th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival Every so often we have our views called into check. Whenever this happens the wise person considers the perspective, as well as the experiences of the person calling the entrenched views into check. In doing so one learns and therefor grows. At least that is how it should work. Milos Forman , the immigrant from Czechoslovakia who later won Academy Awards for best director for the films “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” and “Amadeus”, provides just such a check for America. He clearly, and accurately describes American politicians misunderstanding of totalitarianism and western European democratic socialism in his July 10th op-ed piece in the New York Times . He ends the article with a very poignant warning. Mr. Obama, and politicians of both major parties, as well as every American citizens ought to consider his words... and warning. Obama turns to small-scale solutions to a weak economy... And a $695 Per Worker Rebate In Hopes of Buying Your Vote

Image
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Birthplace of Independent Conservatism Liberty -vs- Tyranny As Obama continues to be clueless.... I am sure he is hoping that a $695 dollar rebate will convince you to vote in 2012 for his failed policies of the past. After all, it takes time for central government planning of the economy to take hold and be successful no? Let history and facts be your guide. From the Los Angeles Times Reporting from Washington— As White House aides search for ways to show progress on the economy, they are banking that a set of small-scale proposals may be able to win congressional approval and dent a chronically high unemployment rate considered the main threat to President Obama's reelection chances. Obama has turned to the modest measures in the absence of more ambitious tools, such as stimulus spending, which are not an option for the White House in the climate of austerity and fiscal discipline dominating Washington. Examples include more spe...

Assualt on Individualism and Liberty

RN USA is pleased as never before. The reason is because Ayn Rand , although gone from this world since 1982, simply refuses to die. Aside from the  fact she penned two best selling novels, The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged , as well as many other literary works,  she is now being given a new life by those who most fear her messages of individualism, self sufficiency, rational self interest, and capitalism. The socialist and statist mindset , so profligate in the media, academia, and government are apparently gearing up to trash her by misrepresentation and misinterpretation of her philosophy. Why? Because she is a threat to everything they wish to accomplish. They will likely not rest until they gain total control of the mechanisms of government and the countries productive capacity. Not to mention the control to determine what liberties they would allow us to retain, if any. Enough ranting. The purpose for this short post is to direct my r...

Hope and Change - Obama Style

Image
The people throughout the land, hearing of the anointed one's legendary wisdom, grew anxious and hungry to hear his sweet words. The promise of Hope and Change proceeded him as he visited villages and metropolises all across this land of ours. The long night of Bush the Terrible had left the people weary and wondering if America, the beloved country, would, indeed could, ever be the same again. The years of Bush the Terrible, who had kept the people free of terrorist attack, had taxed the people's patience and they longed for the promise of Hope and Change. As the wisdom of the anointed one spread  his following grew. Millions listened, and the glimmer of Hope and Change grew brighter almost by the day. The anointed one, with words as sleek as silk promised the people of the land peace when he brought our tired men and women home from their long night of  discontent. Seei...

Fighting Socialism - Then and Now

Image
I received this cartoon from a friend via e-mail. Very apropos. This carton was in the Chicago Tribune in 1934 Look carefully at the plan of action in the lower left corner. Remember the adage: " Those who do not remember the past are doomed to repeat it." (DOUBLE  CLICK ON THE PICTURE FOR EASE OF READING) During the 1930's there was a world wide socialist/communist movement. While still in it's relative infancy in the 1930's, it was growing and continues to do so today. There are forces at work globally, as well as internally within the United States of America, to bring the capitalist system crashing down. Capitalism with its concept of personal property rights has been the only system ever devised capable of creating wealth and raising the standard of living for the masses. Those that understand this must increase our efforts to thwart the insidious evil that is inherent in socialism. Socialism is, at its core, in...
