Ron Paul... The Libertarian Republican Presidential Candidate, and Brightest in the Field

Image
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty -v s- Tyranny Rep. Ron Paul, the long shot candidate for president. A member of the Republican party {why I haven't a clue} who is by far more Libertarian than Republican. A man who is different from your typical politician. Who unlike Romney, Perry, Cain, Bachmann, Gingrich, and Santorum {did I forget anyone?} is consistent in principle and his understanding of our Constitutional foundation. A man who could, if given a shot have a profoundly positive impact on the health of the nation. He is not beholden to the power structure in the party of R. Nor is he warmly in bed with the monied Wall Street monied interests. He understands the need for monetary reform and has been instrumental in exposing the need for oversight of the Federal Reserves. And he sees the definite and immediate need to reign in the MIC. Paul may not be the perfect candidate. In fact it is very likely there is no such thing as the perfect candidate. After all...

Progressive Collectivists Use the Reagan Tax Increases to Validate Their Progressive Socialist Agenda

Image
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Birthplace of Independent Conservatism I simply have to LMAO at the leftist pundits. They are the first to trash the Reagan legacy of pro business growth and the prosperity that it engendered. Yet today they are the first to point out he raised taxes following his initial tax cuts of 1981. So, what does that really tell you? It says simply that his tax cuts indeed set the stage for increased positive economic activity and growth. Once economic recovery had gained a foothold the Reagan administration raised taxes again. The obvious question is, or at least it should be, why? The answer is this... To fund the ever growing military industrial complex and the Leviathan government. As much as I loved President Reagan for his patriotism and strong individualist values, he really was not, in all reality, a strong proponent of limited government. His huge defense spending and support of the military industrial complex bears this out. Perhaps just ...

Senator Rand Paul... A Real Maverick?

Image
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Birthplace of Independent Conservatism It is early yet. While Senator Rand Paul certainly must earn the nation's respect, given the early and fast start he has chosen to pursue one cannot help but be encouraged. The Libertarian Republican from Kentucky appears to be, at least at this early mark, a maverick that will "question with boldness" the staus qua of the old guard in the Senate. Irrespective of political leanings or ideology, a true Patriot should welcome Senator Paul's independence. While not being a betting man really I will venture to bet that the modern day "statist liberals" will be out in full force screaming Senator Paul's detriments and fabricating all measures of untruths with respect to his motives, agenda, and beliefs. I freely admit that I will be watching and analyzing his activities, pronouncements, and votes. I will look for consistency in his actions and adherence to Constitutional pr...

David Barton and Jim DeMint on Homosexuality

Image
by Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA I recently had an op-ed article published in the Daily Caller, it was entitled " An Independent Conservative's View of Gay Marriage. " While I am not a proponent of same sex marriage I do hold that same sex unions ought to be recognized and afforded all the same legal considerations as heterosexual unions. My purpose for referencing my Daily Caller article is because the forces of social conservatives are coalescing around politicians like Jim DeMint , and Evangelicals are doing the same around figures like David Barton . This should give independent conservatives, Libertarians, and moderates the shivers. DeMint recently went on record in a speech given at First Baptist North Spartanburg in which he advocated that openly gay individuals should not be teaching in the classroom. He holds the same position with respect to unmarried women who are sleeping with, their boyfriends. I assume he means the same for those who are livin...

An Independent Conservatives View on Limited Government, an Objective Tax Code and Regulatory Overreach

by Les Carpenter Rational Nation  USA As the nation quickly approaches the 2010 midterm elections and Tea Party fervor reaches a fever-pitch I ask that you take but a moment to reflect. What - if anything - might change should the Tea Party candidates claim victory and Republicans take back the Congress? My fervent desire for years has been to cast aside politicians on both sides of the political aisle and elect candidates that actually stand on principle. Ideally, this translates to those that adhere unflinchingly to the principles of limited government and individualism. American Constitutional principles that allow for the greatest individual liberty possible while also requiring the individual to accept and embrace the concept of individual responsibility are the prescription to right our national ship. What does the term limited government mean? More importantly - what do the Tea Party and Republican candidates believe the term means? Even more importantly, what will they...

John Samples On Limited Government

A sensible outlook on Republicanism, limited government, liberty, and the Tea Party movement. At a Cato Institute Capitol Hill briefing, Cato Institute scholar John Samples described the challenge for those who want to limit the size and scope of government. He goes into detail on recent efforts to do just that in his new Cato book, The Struggle to Limit Government . Samples is director of the Cato Institute's Center for Representative Government. Where Do You Stand?... The Progressive Collectivist Assault On America

Image
"The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the Constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first." "A wise and frugal government, which shall restrain men from injuring one another, which shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor and bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government." "Timid men prefer the calm of despotism to the tempestuous sea of liberty." By: Les Carpenter III Rational Nation USA In eighteen days it will be our nation's 234th birthday. As we prepare to celebrate our unique and exceptional  history, the nation is engaged in a great and profound battle for its very soul .We stand at the ultimate crossroads. The road we ultimately choose will determine whether this nation survives with our founding principals as the...

Individualism, Limited Government, and Liberty

There are those, mostly on the left of the political spectrum, who will take issue with these words spoken by a true patriot. Ronald W. Reagan understood the importance of individualism and the benefits of a limited government. One can not argue with the statement government grew under Reagan. However, it grew at a much slower rate than we have witnessed in recent years. His understanding of the value of individualism and the benefits of limited government is why the growth was slowed. It will take a great effort by the people of this country to set it again on a path that is respectful of the values of our founding fathers and the Constitution of the United States of America. Are we up to the challenge?

It's Time For Congressional Term Limits

As the Labor Day Festa's and family picnics came to a close I found myself thinking to the future. The future of America. A dismaying thought crossed my mind. The idea we are locked in a fierce political battle at this moment in our history. A political battle that if lost will change our country forever. President Barrack Hussein Obama is living up to his promise. To radically change the face of the United States of America. While America was hungry for change after 8 years of the Bush - Cheney Administration it is becoming clear that the scope of this President's change is not what the American people expected or wanted. There are signs the influence of conservatives to moderates are having an impact on the Administration and causing it to rethink it's strategy. Conservative and Libertarian bloggers are adding much to the debate and the politicians are being forced to take note. All this is positive and shou...
