More Deaths By Mass Shooting... Will The Carnage Continue?

Image
From The Atlantic , yet American "leadership" is most likely to continue to say prayers and offer condolences to the families who lose loved ones, as well as partaking of solemn candlelight vigils. American leadership is apparently owned by the NRA, firearm manufactures, and gun nuts who believe the right to own private arsenals trumps the right to life. Twenty-six people shot dead in Sutherland Springs, November 5. Fifty-nine people shot dead in Las Vegas, October 1. Forty-nine people shot dead in Orlando, June 12 of last year. They are three of the five worst mass shootings in modern U.S. history. All happened in the last two years. Two occurred within the same two months. Skip Diseases spread between individuals, but the contagion of mass shootings seems to spread through broadcast media. In an interview with The Atlantic in 2015, Sherry Towers, the ASU paper’s lead author, hypothesized that television, radio, and other media exposure might be the vectors t...

Another Firearm Related Death, This Time a Twelve Yeaer Old Scout...

by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Purveyor of Truth Another day. Another life cut short when a firearm discharges. A twelve year old boy dies at a Boy Scout Camp. With whom should the responsibility for this needless tragedy rest upon? Should criminal charges be filed against the irresponsible actions of whomever was responsible for this child? Must we accept there is nothing we can do as a society because of the 2'nd Amendment right to bear arms? Are there any responsible adults governing this nation? Yes, I know guns don't kill people, people kill people. But it takes the action of a person to discharge a firearm and when irresponsible adults set the stage for a child to have access to a loaded weapon unsupervised by a responsible adult please tell me just who is negligent and why the shouldn't be charged with negligent homicide? "An Unfortunate Accident"...

by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Purveyor of Truth It was bound to be said. For at least one republican politician, Iowa State Senator Joni Ernst, a candidate for the U.S. Senate, the UCSB shooting was an accident . A strong 2'nd Amendment supporter (nothing wrong with that) endorsed by the NRA she made a couple very concerning comments during a televised primary debate. "Mrs. Ernst, a viewer wrote us saying in light of the shooting of Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, the shootings at the Aurora, Colo., theater, and most recently at the UC Santa Barbara campus, 'we have a Joni Ernst in the television ad that is running continuously on all local television stations that contains violent imagery pointing a gun directly at the viewer and vowing to quote ‘shoot them down’ and hateful language directed toward their opponents. Is this really what politics has become in this country?'" the moderator said. "Mrs. Ernst, what do you say to this viewer?" ...

Gun Deaths By Country... Is There a Direct Correlation to Number of Firearms in Circulation?

from: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Purveyor of Truth No matter how much we argue about the details of its meaning today, in the opinion of many, the Constitution signed in Philadelphia on September 17, 1787 represents the greatest expression of statesmanship and compromise ever written. In just four hand-written pages, the Constitution gives us no less than the owners' manual to the greatest form of government the world has ever known. We have no tribal council, nor can we vote anybody off the island. But, we do live in the land of the free, and as long as the Constitution stands, we always will. Yes, the 2'nd amendment establishes the right of the nation's citizens to keep and bear arms, a right I personally agree with. When handled by responsible sensible individuals who keep there firearms and ammunition secure firearms in theory at least are as safe as knives, hatchets, axes and such. In 1787 the framers of our Constitution recognized the need for a wel...
