GWB, No Regrets...

Image
Rational Nation USA Purveyor of Truth Former President George W Bush told Bob Schieffer Sunday morning that he had no regrets over the decision to invade Iraq. Bush was on to discuss his new book praising his father (and to honor Face The Nation’ss sixtieth anniversary). 43 insisted he did not invade Iraq to finish what his father started, and said he was surprised when Saddam Hussein called his bluff over the invasion, but didn’t regret the decision to go in. “I think it was the right decision,” Bush said. “My regret is that a violent group of people has risen up again. This is al Qaeda plus. I put in the book that they need to be defeated. And I hope they are. I hope the strategy works.” Golly gee, does anyone think the president would freely admit his blunder? Iraq and the Obama Almost Strategy...

by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Purveyor of Truth President Obama, in his signature style is taking quarter measures to prevent immediate genocide by the ISIS in Iraq. Neither Obama or the western democracies are will to admit that the terrorist networks that adhere to the cult of Islam are determined to take control of the Middle East as well as the entire globe. Until they do, and take the necessary military action to crush every single one of the filthy lice ridden barbaric terrorist organizations this problem will forever be with us all. Even democratic Senator Feinstein recognizes ‘ It takes an army to defeat an army .' However she stopped short of addressing the core of the problem or offering any serious alternatives to the President's response. The Washington Post - PRESIDENT OBAMA was right to order military action to prevent a potential genocide in northern Iraq and to stop forces of the al-Qaeda-derived Islamic State from advancing on Baghdad or the...

As the Evil Grows...

Image
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Purveyor of Truth The face of evil , growing rapidly and determined to overtake the Middle East and eventually the world. All in the name of a backwards, barbaric, liberty hating, women hating, and reason hating cult called Islam. A cult established by a barbaric authoritarian dictatorial madman named Mohammed. Called the "Prophet, piss be upon him, he prophesied the destruction of those who dare to believe differently. Find the article BELOW TE FOLD . Via: Memeorandum

The "Tolerance" of Islam, the Peaceful Religion...

by Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Purveyor of Truth So, Iraqi ISIS jihadis have given Christians a deadline to convert to the religion of "peace" ( Islam ), pay or face death. Precisely as the Koran instructs all "good" Muslims to demand. As the west stands back and preaches tolerance while accepting the intolerance of bigots, the intolerant, and murderers, all in the name of, TOLERANCE . A safe bet is leftists in the USA as well as worldwide, (I"m talking about the flaming reason and anti west haters), will be for the most part silent so as nor to offend the sensibilities of the Muslims who are not complete A-holes. Such is the state of political correctness. At some point the western world will fully come to realize the dangers facing it. All indications are it may very well be too late before they do. I personally know many Muslims who do not hold with the extremist backwards violent religiosity of the extremists that seem to be gaining power in...

Iraq, a Regional Problem That Will Require Unconventional Thinking...

by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Purveyor of Truth The following excerpt from a New York Times article is thought provoking and highlights the current realities present in the political and religious divisions in Iraq as well as the entire region. Difficulties in finding a solution to the unfolding and growing crisis are all too evident. If there is one thing perfectly clear it is that conventional wisdom and traditional western responses will be inadequate and very likely prove to be counter productive if undertaken. With this in mind the last groups we ought to listen to are the Neocons and the virulent knee jerk anti-Muslin crowd. The Obama administration has urged Iraqi politicians of different sects to come together, repeating admonitions that were so often heard in the years after the 2003 invasion. But the Pentagon — reluctant to commit more manpower to a complex and profoundly uncertain conflict — has quietly hinted it could live with Iraq’s current division, de...

Iraq, Is It Time To Break the War Machne Mentality and Move to a New Reality?...

by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Purveyor of Truth Below is another sobering and accurate assessment of the present situation and how we helped Iraq get to this point. At noon today, President Obama issued his first statement on the deteriorating situation on Iraq. “This is not solely or even primarily a military challenge,” he said. “The United States will do our part, but understand that ultimately it’s up to the Iraqis as a sovereign nation to solve their problems.” Obama left the door open to unspecified “actions,” but repeated that the Iraqis themselves had to seize the opportunity that the years of American effort gave them. This will no doubt be greeted by the President’s opponents with something akin to apoplexy. They will be arguing that in fact the problem does have a military solution, that the U.S. can solve it, and that whatever is happening, everything would be better if we applied more force. We have now reached the rather ironic situation in Iraq where...

The Losing of Iraq...

by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Purveyor of Truth When the administration of George W. Bush made it's decision to invade Iraq ( using questionable justification it helped set up the scenario we see unfolding today. Ultimately the decision destabilized the region further, created more anti American sentiment in the region, and set up Iraq for civil strife and internal political instability. All for a cost of billions in U.S. taxpayer dollars, loss of American life, and loss of Iraqi life. I could go on for a very long time but Fareed Zakarian does a better job of presenting the evidence if you will than I might. The Washington Post - It is becoming increasingly likely that Iraq has reached a turning point. The forces hostile to the government have grown stronger, better equipped and more organized. And having now secured arms, ammunition and hundreds of millions of dollars in cash from their takeover of Mosul — Iraq’s second-largest city — they will build on these ...

Time to Throw the Neocons Overboard

Neocons are Progressive community organizers on a global scale. It’s time to pitch then overboard if we want to advance the conservative movement Operation New Dawn, its name suggesting a skin cream or dishwashing liquid, now begins. (What ever happened to the practice of using terms like Torch or Overlord or Dragon to describe military campaigns?) ( Andrew Bacevich - Obama Wants Us to Forget Iraq Lessons ) Professor Andrew Bacevich, who lost a son in the Iraq war, has consistently provided readers a clear-eyed view of American foreign policy. In his latest article, he shows how good intentions can reap unintended (and undesirable) outcomes. Every time we thought we had “solved” something in the Middle East, another problem cropped up. Taking out Mossadegh let the Shah of Iran back in, angering the Islamists, who then took power 20 years later. Taking out Saddam destroyed the firewall protecting the Middle East from the Iranians. Wouldn’t it have been better to le...

Obama, Afghanistan and The Military Industrial Complex

Image
Is There A Correlation? The invasion of Afghanistan by the U.S. and the allied coalition following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack on the United States was a neccessary and wholly justified responsee to an unprovoked act of aggression. Because we took our eye off the primary perpetrator, Osama Bin Laden, he is still at large today, in so far as we know. Following our military actions in Afghanistan, President G.W. Bush and the United States Congress authorized military action against the state of Iraq. The sole justification offered was that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction and therefor posed a national security risk to the United States and a threat to the world at large. Weapons of mass destruction have to this day yet to be found.  We are still in Iraq and will...
