Like a loyal political soldier Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton steps up and accepts full responsibility for the lax security in Benghazi that cost Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans their lives.

CBS News - Secretary of State Hillary Clinton sought to take responsibility for the attacks on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, on Sept. 11 in a series of interviews on Monday.

"I take responsibility" for what happened on September 11, Clinton told CNN Monday after arriving in Lima, Peru, for a visit. The series of interviews with U.S. television networks were Clinton's most direct comments on the deadly attack, which killed U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans.

Clinton insisted President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden are not involved in security decisions.

"I want to avoid some kind of political gotcha," she told CNN." {Read More}

Credit to the Secretary of State for shouldering the responsibility for the lax security and resultant loss of life. I'm sure the President will now sleep easier at night.

  1. I wonder if Paul Ryan would take responsibility for this for voting to cut spending on State Department security...

    1. There are area's you can cut, and there are area's one with a brain would realize you don't cut. A volatile area in the mid east is one you probably shouldn't don't cha think? Unless you plan on leaving the region of course.

But nice try at changing the subject though..

    2. According to the Daily Caller, there were actually more Democrats than Republicans (149-147) who supported these security cuts, Jersey.

    3. Nah, I was just foolin', Les. Really, the political hay made out of what happened in Libya is kinda pathetic. If there was some lapse in judgement that caused a lack of needed security at that embassy, that should be confessed and addressed. That will take a little time. It seems that was the case. Hillary owns that and stood up and took the hit. From what I understand about the administration, Hillary holds pretty tight reins on the DoS.

The story of that little snivelly video is really what attracts conservatives to this story, like moths to a porch light, like irritated Muslims to tasteless American xenophobic videos.

  2. There has got to be a quid pro quo here. The Clintons don't do anything for nothing.

    1. I'm quite sure this is a quid pro quo. Hillary stands to gain if Obama is reelected. Just imagine the possibilities!

  3. Reminds me, ironically, of her presidential campaign. It was the Hillary campaign, not the Republicans, that launched the big "Obama is a Muslim" meme. Hillary had the staffer that originated the emails fall on their sword.

And she also had Ferraro fall on her sword when Ferraro made some repugnant racist comments against Obama during the campaign, on behalf of the Hillary campaign.

But the campaign was crazy like a fox. The damage was done.

    1. Two things you can say about the Clinton clan, they are intelligent, and they definitely think like foxes.

  4. Jersey: I wonder what the whole story was behind this? Perhaps the state department money was attached, as often happens, to some very bad wasteful and destructive legislation. In any case, it was the Obama administration to ignore danger warnings and keep security high in quiet tropical paradises and low in Libya.

  5. I agree with all the responses above, except Jersey's of course. ;-)

  6. You would have preferred she lied to protect her president, then go to jail, like half of Bush's administration went to jail, only to be pardoned by the man they were protecting? Just wondering which process you prefer your leadership to take.

    1. I would have preferred the lieing stopped the day after. But that didn't happen now did it?

  7. For the smartest women on the planet she sure goes our of her way to take the blame for the F/U the men in her life cause.
JMJ Nice try but funds were never cut. Obama was far to busy with his rock star status to bother with one Embassy in a conflicted area on 9/11. He has a fund raiser to go to with some movie stars.

Like you said, they don't do anything without some expectation of payback but in this case I'm sure it is just a right wing conspiracy.
