With the focus on meditation and ethical living, wthout the fear of hell or purgatory as taught in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam one works on self improvement leading to an awakened and thus more enlightened life.
Buddhism, studied and practiced honestly with an open mind and heart can have transformational effect. I know because it did with me.
