Rational Nation USA
Purveyor of Truth

When you see smoke with increasing intensity you can rationally believe there is fire. Unless of course you are a Trumpista or Trumbot. In which case you'll either spin the story so it is HRC's or WJC's fault, the media is in HRC's hip pocket, it's all fabrications and a conspiracy to bring down a "great man" who will Make America Great "Again", so what - compared to Bill tRump is just a piker, or, some other derivative and combination of similar theme.

Following are links to stories that cause reasonably intelligent folks to at the very least question Donald J. Trump's fitness to be president of our Already Great Nation. Click on selected story to read.

Have at it folks. This is an open thread and for a period of time comment moderation will be OFF. Comments with rude, crude, or filthy language will be deleted immediately upon detection. So will off topic pointless blather.

Frankly, and we've hesitated saying this openly until now, tRump is a pig, a jack ass, a desicable man, and is devoid of any morals whatsoever. Therefore, in our opinion he is unfit fit to lead anything, with the possible exception of being the lead pipe to the city sewer system.

  1. Not only has he divided the GOP, der Trumpenstein is starting on the fundamentalist Christians . A class act he sure is not.

  2. What we DO know is that Hillary lied to the FBI, the American people and has conspired with the DNC to marginalize Bernie. We know BJ Clinton had inappropriate relations with an intern and has been accused of rape and molestation with dozens of others.

We also know that Trump said some vulgar things but the rest including the new BS released today is BS so he is still innocent of that.

"We know -H- lied to the FBI, the American people and has conspired with the DNC to marginalize Bernie. We know BJC had inappropriate relations with an intern and has been accused of rape and molestation. Only the intern relations are proven.

We know trump said some vulgar things but the rest is yet to be proven so he is still innocent."

Now look at a few very recent tRump lies.

Fact Checking Donald Trump's Defiant Speech
    by JANE C. TIMM

Donald Trump gave a lengthy speech on Thursday, lashing out at the media, rival Hillary Clinton, the U.S. government, and the financial industry for what he said is widespread conspiracy and corruption. He repeatedly claimed that what he was saying was true and factual, and arguing that his critics were incorrect.

But at least four of Trump's key claims were inaccurate.

1). "We've seen this first hand in the WikiLeaks documents, in which Hillary Clinton meets in secret with international banks to plot the destruction of U.S. sovereignty in order to enrich these global financial powers, her special interest friends and her donors. So true."

Clinton does not plot the destruction of the nation in any way during her paid speeches, which Trump inaccurately characterizes as secret. They were private. In one 2013 speech Clinton says her "dream" would be "a hemispheric common market, with open trade and open borders." She does not say that is her goal in office, or that she believes it could ever be realistic. Her actual proposals identify increased border security as a key goal.

2). "The establishment has trillions of dollars at stake. As an example, just one single trade deal they'd like to pass involves trillions of dollars controlled by many countries, corporations, and lobbyists," Trump said.

Trump says Clinton is at the center of this widespread establishment, but his rival opposes the big trade deal up for approval, the Trans-Pacific Partnership. She supported it during negotiations, once calling it the "gold standard," but after the details were decided, she spoke out against it and said she would oppose it as president.

3). "Six months ago the failing New York Times wrote a massive story attacking me. The central witness they used said the story was false, that she was quoted inaccurately; she said that I was a great guy … and never made the remarks."

Rowanne Brewer Lane, the anecdotal lead to that New York Times story, did not dispute any of her quotes in the story; she disputed the characterization of her experience - when Trump asked her to put on a bathing suit and showed her off to friends - and said it was a positive interaction.

4). "The polls are showing us in a dead heat."

No, they don't. While some polls, like the Rasmussen one he cites, showed a dead heat, the majority of the public opinion polls show Trump down in many key states and nationally.

Anyone who has been paying a modicum of attention knows that tRump has been shown to be almost a pathalogical liar. IOW the vast majority of what erupts from his yap is a . And, he believes his own lies because he is Donald J. Trump; in his own mind he is perfect. In reality he is a total complete psychologica mess.

    1. RN: In one 2013 speech Clinton says her "dream" would be "a hemispheric common market, with open trade and open borders".

That's disturbing. Although PolitiFact says "mostly false" because, as "Jacob Vigdor, professor of public policy and governance University of Washington, said... I don't necessarily see a contradiction between a statement of ideals and a more pragmatic policy agenda for reality... One can dream of a crime-free world where there is need for neither police nor prisons while still supporting those things in reality".

But these (over) paid speeches absolutely do concern me. The excerpt quoted by RN being an example of why no transcripts will ever be released, I think. If for no other reason then there are surely a lot of other things in there that could be "misinterpreted" and used by her opponents to attack her.

    2. I tend to agree with Jacob Vigdor. Although I certainly understand the concerns, Personally I believe the "dream" is unrealistic and therefore unattainable. People being people and all that.

  9. Hey BB-Idaho! Congrats!

From The Idaho Statesman, which endorsed Hillary Clinton for president:

We know Trump launched his presidential candidacy by disparaging people of Mexican heritage — many of whom are our neighbors, friends and co-workers here in Idaho. While Trump has tried to walk back his stances, Clinton has steadfastly presented a more realistic approach. According to Politifact: “Clinton has presented herself as an advocate for comprehensive immigration legislation, emphasizing a commitment to keeping immigrant families together, giving undocumented workers a chance to ‘come out of the shadows’ and pushing for immigrant integration.”

Several Idaho agriculture industries depend upon foreign workers to get the job done. Whereas Trump has indicated employers should first be mandated to hire the nation’s unemployed before recruiting foreign workers, we consistently hear from Idaho employers that such a willing American workforce does not exist. Clinton recognizes that immigrants and migrant workers play a critical role in supporting America’s agricultural economy, according to statements she provided to ModernFarmer.com. [...]

We live in the real world, with real problems that need real solutions. We need someone with pragmatic approaches that include patience and compassion. We need Hillary Clinton to be the next president.

    1. Idaho is solid red and Trump leads Clinton 54-34, with 10% going for Johnson. There is a glimmer of
critical thinking beginning to occur, however. Senator Crapo (R, of course) and congressman Simpson (
R, of course) have denounced Trump as unfit; which may cause a downticket brouhaha. Consider the Idaho
voters as mostly gun owners and Mormons: we see from Utah that Mormons, although staunch Republicans,
put a premium on morality. Since that is a foreign concept to Trump, look for some cracking and crumbling in one of the reddest states.

  11. In light of Shaw's Idaho newspaper link, I wondered if the "Detroit News" newspaper turned its bank on Trump also. They are always very "mainstream Republican".

    Sure enough, they did....

"Today this newspaper does something it has never done in its 143-year history: endorse someone other than the Republican candidate in a presidential contest."

    Trump is making history, alright!
