TPM - Fox News host Megyn Kelly on Monday night mocked the letter drafted by Republican presidential campaigns listing a series of rules and questions for networks hosting future debates.
After listing some of the demands, including that networks not allow lightning rounds or candidate-to-candidate questioning, Kelly jokingly suggested, "And then maybe the foot massage?"
She then criticized the campaigns' request that they approve any graphics about the candidates ahead of the debate.
"Can you imagine having to submit our graphics for approval to the candidates? Good luck with that," she said.

"Continue to occasionally watch"? That's not exactly a ringing endorsement Rational.
ReplyDeleteOn a more serious note though, questioning the networks and making demands is entirely reasonable. Negotiation is important. If the GOP were to allow networks to dictate the terms of the debates, they would sure seem weak to me.
The GOP own their brand, they are entitled to have preferences on how their candidates' positions get shared. Ted Cruz pointed it out very effectively in the CNBC debate that if left to their own devices, the media will not present the GOP in a flattering, or even neutral light.
While I will not argue your point, because it is rational, I must say the candidates of the GOP are their own worst enemy when it comes to presenting themselves in a flattering or neutral light, especially Trump, Carson, and Huckabee.
ReplyDeleteWhy the hell can't a conservative be awesome? I know it sounds a bit oxymoronic. Remember, she is being paid for her speech. I would imagine in truth that it is all a big joke to her.
