    This does sum up the progressive doctrine. Give us everything you take from the rich while we protest against them.
    The right has the same difficulty. They preach smaller less intrusive government who tells you how to live your lives. That's kinda like Hillary saying trust me, just doesn't work.
    Democrat and Republican Politicians are very similar in their biggest desire is to keep their job, spend you money and devise ways to get more.

    The vast majority of recipients of government assistance do not game the system. In the minds of the Lisas of the country, however, the opposite is true. The couple in the cartoon represent the evil "takers" that Ayn Rand hated and wished to see dead. This demonization/hatred for the poor is something Libertarian/Objectivism has in common with Conservative/Republicanism.

      i reject your interpretation of Ayn Rand out of hand. You are certainly entitled to your opinion. However, be advised this post is not about Ayn Rand and therefore this discussion is ended.

      Hate is a powerful emotion and I've found over my many years on this earth those who incessantly accuse others of hating are the ones filed with the most hate. It that you Dervish?

I admit it... there are many philosophical, governmental, business, and ethical issues on which the POTUS and me would strongly disagree. I would be being less than honest if I claimed I didn't wish the POTUS were a different individual. One whose governing practices and philosophy of government more closely resembled that of Founding Fathers and responsible independent modern conservatives. The reality is however just this. The people of the United States elected this man to the highest office in the land for four years. Ron Paul - Republican Presidential Candidate I read with great interest Ron Paul's recent statements in Iowa with respect to the 911 attacks on America by Islamic extremists and their primary motivation. Nowhere in candidate Paul's statement did I see where he justified the attacks that resulted in the death of 3,000 plus Americans. What I did read was a rational analysis of what motivated the attackers and why they were so motivated. Call it thinking outside the confines of a restricted and often myopic view of reality. In other words Paul is saying first seek to understand the motivations of a dangerous extremist group and then seek to effect ways to change their reality. IE: Perception. Here you have it folks, the real truth. The socialist/statist left, the champions of the working man, blocking the extension of unemployment benefits to none other than... the working man and women. The Senate failed Thursday to extend benefits programs for laid off workers. The house on the other hand passed a bill that would have extended for one month the program so lawmakers could decide how to address the issue in the long term. The Senate, while trying to follow suit was not successful in  overcoming the strong objections of Senator Jim Bunning, Republican Senator from Kentucky. Senator Bunning would not support the bill on grounds that the additional  ten billion outlay would increase the Federal budget deficit.
