The Scott Brown Win And What It Really Means

To all my independent conservative brethren Rational Nation USA sends out the message the Scot Brown win in Massachusetts does not signal the death of socialist thinking in American politics. It merely signals the dissatisfaction with the status quo.

And just what would be the status quo? From a true independent conservative perspective it would be the ill advised and liberal deficit spending policies of the GWB administration.

I have lived precisely thirty eight years in the liberal northeast, the liberal think tank of America if you will. The message sent by the election of Scott Brown is this; ... It is time that America returns to sound, and  frugal fiscal policies so clearly expressed by our founding fathers. Most specifically those of our third president, Thomas Jefferson.

Rational Nation USA will leave it to the greater minds in American politics and governance to find the answers. From a rational perspective, and  above the partisan hassles of everyday politics, this observer is not hopeful we will bet it right and do the right thing.

If we fail to do so it will be at our children's and grandchildren's peril.

  1. Would it be this quote from Thomas Jefferson:

"Commerce with all nations, alliance with none, should be our motto."

    Or this one...

"Experience demands that man is the only animal which devours his own kind, for I can apply no milder term to the general prey of the rich on the poor."

    What about this one...

" do not find in orthodox Christianity one redeeming feature."

    No, no, no...its this one:

"I hope we shall crush in its birth the aristocracy of our monied corporations which dare already to challenge our government to a trial by strength, and bid defiance to the laws of our country."

    Or this one:

" Merchants have no country. The mere spot they stand on does not constitute so strong an attachment as that from which they draw their gains."

  3. Gee, Wes designs you a new blog and you get hooked up with a really unsavory group of followers and I go from being a classical liberal to be a leninist...

You sure just go around throwing out all these labels all over the place...

Get it straight, I own my own company for over 20 years and now own two and starting a third one...how many companies do you have to own to be a Leninist?

Second, I voted republican once, democrat once, and voted against GWB but didn't like the democrat either...so what is that a 1-1-1 record...guess that makes me a true independent.

So, when you are concerned about the little guy that makes you a Leninist? Being for small business, the folks that creates most of the jobs, that makes you a Leninist?

Keep up the good work throwing out meaningless quotes and spinning partisan bullshit....

    It will make you popular!

Good thing I didn't hire Wes to redo two of my company blogs....what a spell that boy must weave...whew!

  4. Yup, and I wish you well on all your endeavors.

I really could give a rats a** how you voted.

I simply see through you rhetoric.

Mt father ran a successful SMALL business with my mother for years. I learned much from a true blue collar man and women.

You on the other hand are a classical example of an elitist.

of which I have little to no use for.

Your obvious intellect has no use when you use it as you have obviously chosen.

It is sad. You actually could have a valuable impact on a generation if you really meant what you say.

I found out the hard way you are not that which I originally thought you were.

Take a lesson from your "student" Truth.

  5. Les - I have struggled with the meaning of the Scott Brown win and the impact on future liberty and 'true' conservative principles. After the initial high of the election I too have come to rational observation that although Scott Brown's election was a pivotal moment, it does not predicate that HE is the man to lead this nation to limited government and fiscal sanity. In many ways he is a north eastern moderat/liberal and would tend to be of the GWB spending variety of pol. For what he was elected to do, however, his victory was of historic proportion. We should not take it beyond that though. We need a tough, intellecutally consistent set of rugged individuals to lead this country. Great post!
