Our Dysfunctional Congress Is the Fault of the American Voters...

by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty -v s- Tyranny Only from a politician. Generally spun to a fine whipped topping of gibberish. This one from a democrat. House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer while acknowledging Americans are right that Congress isn't working well has decided it is after all the voters fault. Following is what Mr. Hoyer had to say. THE HILL - The Maryland Democrat said voters are “absolutely right” to think that “Congress isn’t working very well.” But that dysfunction, he said, is largely of their own making. “The American people have every right to be angry [and] disappointed by the performance of the Congress,” Hoyer told reporters in the Capitol. “Of course, the American people have also elected people with hard stances, so that to some degree the American people are realizing the results of their votes. “If elections have consequences — which I think they do — some of those consequences are getting what you vote for,” Hoyer added. “In this cas...

OWS... Are the Protests Positive, or are They Merely Anti-Capitalist in Nature...?

by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty -v s- Tyranny OWS protests continue. They are spreading across the nation. As the momentum grows it is becoming crystal clear the media and the politicians in both the democrat and republican party are actively manipulating the protests. Keep your eyes and ears peeled and open in the coming days. Keep your mind open and reason foremost as you analyze the movement as well as its methods. The nation has not weighed in conclusively as of his date. However, early indications are that the people following OWS are more in agreement than not. To the degree the OWS protests focus on eliminating crony capitalism, corporatism, corporate welfare, corporate money influencing congressional and presidential decisions, and the resulting impact on the middle class this site for liberty is fully supportive. On the other hand, and to the extent OWS sinks to the level of championing anti capitalism {which much signage indicates is happening}, rampant...

Cain Debunking the Liberal Mantra that Racism is Holding Minorities Back...

Image
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty -v s- Tyranny Herman Cain. Black man running as a conservative republican candidate for his party's nomination for the presidency of the United States of America. A successful businessman and CEO of his own company, Godfather Pizza. Believes racism is no longer a major factor in holding minorities back. It is likely Mr. Cain has the progressive left gnashing their teeth. From his interview with Candy Crowley, Chief Political Correspondent with CNN news. ( CNN ) - Presidential candidate Herman Cain said Sunday that he didn’t believe racism was a major factor holding minorities back in America, asserting instead that African Americans had a level playing field on which to advance economically. “I don't believe racism in this country today holds anybody back in a big way,” Cain said on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “Are there some elements of racism? Yes. It gets back to if we don't grow this economy, that is a ripple effe...

Too Many Sheets to the Wind

I have an idea, folks. Let's compare the Tea Party to a uniform group of nasty, racist, redneck 1960s Southerners; a group, mind you, whose ENTIRE purpose in life was to subjugate and perpetrate violence on African-Americans. Yeah, that's the ticket!...............................................................................................Seriously, though, my colleagues, don't you think that maybe, JUST MAYBE, some of "this" has gone a little bit TOO far? I mean, don't get me wrong here. I'm not exactly a big fan of the Tea Party, either (I probably disagree with 80-90% of what they espouse - or at the very least my interpretation of it). But, come on! Do we really have to start heaving around the most vile analogies and stereotypes humanly possible? The way that I see it here, if it's wrong for this Herman Cain numbnuts to go around saying that a lot of black people have been "brainwashed", then it's also wrong for thes...

This Just Out... And, It is Worth Considering

Image
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty -v s- Tyranny Perhaps the best article of the past week. It certainly suggests, and rightly so, the far reaching ramifications of a drone arms race. Not that most will pay attention, or seriously consider and think though the ramifications of such a scenario. Nor will most Americans seriously consider {IMHO} the United States role in beginning or perpetuating its development. Rational Nation USA makes no judgement other than to observe that if we as a nation do not take seriously this development, and deal with it in a rational manner that is in our own national self interest we will deserve that which we allow. The following article by Scott Shane as published in the New York Times . AT the Zhuhai air show in southeastern China last November, Chinese companies startled some Americans by unveiling 25 different models of remotely controlled aircraft and showing video animation of a missile-armed drone taking out an armored vehicle...

Governor Moonbeam Brown and California's "Dream Act"...

Image
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty -v s- Tyranny While OWS has been grabbing headlines all over America the retread governor of the Peoples Socialist Republic of California is continuing to prove he is clueless. Well, to be fair he actually does know a lot about battiness. In his most recent bat crap craziness Jerry {Moonbeam} Brown has just signed into law the "California Dream Act." This bat excrement parchment of legislative progressive idiocy grants illegal aliens financial aid at public universities and community colleges, compliments of the taxpayers of what once was the Golden State of California. From the Los Angeles Times ... Gov. Jerry Brown on Saturday granted illegal immigrants access to state financial aid at public universities and community colleges, putting California once again in the center of the nation's immigration debate. But he vetoed a measure that would have allowed state universities to consider applicants' race, ge...

Is Occupy Wall Street really Autumn in America... ?

by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty -v s- Tyranny To the extent "Occupy Wall Street" has a positive effect on ending crony capitalism and corporatism it will be a good thing. However, what we are beginning to witness as it spreads across the country is reminiscent of the 1960's and early 1970's directionless "hippie" sit-ins. Left Coast Rebel has some great pictures up and Temple of Mut has a great write up on San Diego's version of "Occupy Wall Street" activities. One of the best articles I've read is "American Autumn", written by Mark Steyn at National Review . The article speaks for itself. The zombie youth “occupying” Wall Street are contemptuous of the world that sustains their comforts. Michael Oher, offensive lineman for the Baltimore Ravens, was online on Wednesday night when his Twitter feed started filling up with tributes to Steve Jobs. A bewildered Oher tweeted: “Can somebody help me out? Who wa...

Ayn Rand's View of Liberals...

by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty -v s- Tyranny Yesterday I ran a piece briefly introducing Ayn Rand's views on conservatives. Today, for the purpose of clarification with respect to her view of liberals, and liberalism in general I offer the following... In her words “Liberals” The basic and crucial political issue of our age is: capitalism versus socialism, or freedom versus statism. For decades, this issue has been silenced, suppressed, evaded, and hidden under the foggy, undefined rubber-terms of “conservatism” and “liberalism” which had lost their original meaning and could be stretched to mean all things to all men. The goal of the “liberals”—as it emerges from the record of the past decades—was to smuggle this country into welfare statism by means of single, concrete, specific measures, enlarging the power of the government a step at a time, never permitting these steps to be summed up into principles, never permitting their direction to be identified ...
