    I doubt Tn Tolkien estate authorized that usage. Given how litigious they are, perhaps Jerry and whomever dummied up that artwork should be worried. Heck, Trump has a rep for being litigious AND being thin skinned.

    My first thought when I saw this, and before I saw the comments. "Hey! Jerry doesn't deserve this!"

    Yes, there indeed has been a lot of litigation and frivolous lawsuit harassment involved with the Tolkien estate.

    One might also remember the copyright-troll Saul Zaentz, who held up the "Hobbit" movies for years and years. (After seeing what an overblown mess those films became, perhaps we can thank him)

    Zaentz also famously harassed Jon Fogerty of "Creedence" and tried to prevent him from singing his own songs. This resulted in the "Vanz Kant Danz" video, which Zaentz also tried to censor:

    I believe he is now deceased, and future generations will likely remember him as a pig with a boombox. Just like Steinbrenner will likely be known mainly to future generations as the head-bobbing guy in Seinfeld.

An Open Letter to My Father and Mentor

In the Beginning

Since its inception on June 29th of 2009  this site has been a strong advocate  for limited  responsib le government, true liberty, and fiscally sound economic policy . The site's  Conservative Manifesto clearly spells out the principles for which it stands. It continues to stand by these principles, unequivocally. Mrs. Rational and I took our dynamo back home to Mom and Dad yesterday as he will be going with them to Myrtle Beach Friday for two weeks. Yes, he is one lucky, and very appreciative dynamo. His family is hard working and as a result he is able to enjoy some of the fruits of their labor. With continued perseverance, and maybe a bit of luck this dynamo will be as educated and forward thinking as his supportive family. Coming home for a day before heading south to the casinos I could not resit the temptation to visit the ever present Memeorandum and catch up just a bit on current events.
