Logic in a convoluted religious fundamentalist tea party sort of way.

Raw Story - Mat Staver — a lawyer from theocratic law firm The Liberty Counsel — said on Sunday that his client, Kentucky County Clerk Kim Davis, is like President Abraham Lincoln because of her stand against marriage equality for all Americans.

Staver made the remarks in an appearance on C-SPAN after which a caller said that Davis should do her job or step down.

UPDATE:

MOREHEAD, Ky. — Kim Davis, the Rowan County clerk who was jailed this month for defying a court order that she issue marriage licenses, said Monday that she would not block her employees from processing licenses for same-sex couples.

But she warned that the licenses would be issued without her authorization — she said they would note that they had been processed pursuant to a court order — and she raised questions about whether they would be legal. Ms. Davis, an Apostolic Christian, has objected to processing marriage licenses for same-sex couples because of her religious beliefs.

Full capitulation to the forces of equality and civil rights. Davis and her attorney along with the rest of the fundamentalist religionists will however likely continue their self righteous crusade against marriage equality. Their crusade will no doubt have the backing and full support of Fox News et all and their paid demagogues.

    Her legal team [and Huckabee] has also equated Mrs. Davis to Rosa Parks.....apparently without cognizance that Rosa Parks was fighting to implement civil rights...while Mrs. Davis is fighting against them.

    Today, guys, one of my guys at work said to me, "We lost the culture war," and by "we" he meant he and the Right. It came up in a conversation where he suggested a possible Trump card (pun completely intended), featuring a ticket notably soft on conservative social stances. I told him I thought Trump would have to pick a social conservative. And then he plainly told me the war was lost, "we need to move to other issues, like the economy and immigration."

    Davis is the latest, and hopefully one of the last, of the casualties of the culture war. Most Americans not only think she should be doing her job and keeping her faith out of it, but even that she should be jailed if she refuses. I was surprised to see that. These "millennials" are shaping up to be a pretty with-it generation. I'm very impressed.
