The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any band of regular troops that can be, on any pretence, raised in the United States." –Noah Webster, An Examination of the Leading Principles of the Federal Constitution, 1787 That was then. In an interview with the Daily Times Herald in Carroll, Iowa, state Rep. Dan Muhlbauer said governments should start confiscating semi-automatic rifles and other firearms. The newspaper reported that he owns a .410 shotgun, a .22 rifle and a .22 pistol. “We cannot have big guns out here as far as the big guns that are out here, the semi-automatics and all of th...

DeleteExchanging Obamacare for "something terrific" is an example of Trump's "important ideas." IOW he has none. But he can insult an entire culture so that it sends a thrill up the collective legs of his base and puts him in the lead. The other presidential contenders are killing their cell phones, taking a chain saw to the tax code, saying they'd like to punch teachers in the face, and finally, the most bizarre: cooking bacon on a machine gun. Is this presidential politics or an SNL skit? I can't tell the difference.
ReplyDeleteAll true, unfortunately. But what I really want to hear is what are democrats going to propose that is going to make the Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare) truly affordable for middle class Americans and at the same time sustainable. From my point of view NO ONE has been either able or willing to do both.
DeleteCooking bacon on a machine gun? There are some weird folks out there and how they make it to the national political or media scene is a puzzlement.
Congress needs to amend the ACA by adding a public option. But of course the Repubs will say no because they want it to fail.
DeleteAnother shot to the foot by teddy.
ReplyDeleteYour right Les, obamacare does not work for many. A recent poll shows 25% of people with obamacare are satisfied and the majority don't feel they can afford it in the future. We are stuck with it but our elected elite need to figure out how to fix it and trump's I will come up with something great doesn't provide the answers.
The trump supporters are the equivalent of the obama supporters in 08. He doesn't have to have a plan just a speech. No information voters are a real threat on both sides.
On the leftist side is HRC saying bush, perry, walker have a war on women for pushing to de-fund PPH when it was a women who pushed it. I guess you can't blame her because her ship is listing badly and she need to run from herself.
Is it or is it not true that republicans are the party that has been advocating for and wanted to defund PP?
DeleteYou always start out fine but end up sounding foolish skudrunner.
I'd wager that, for most of the people who dislike the ACA, the reason is because it doesn't have a public option. Funding for PP should be increased, IMO. And the Hyde amendment should be repealed as it punishes poor women who find themselves in the position of needing an abortion.
