Calling a Proverbial Spade a Spade... Part 2

Liberty -vs- Tyranny

This site came out and leveled criticism at Rush Limbaugh for his characterization of Sandra Fluke last week, and general criticism of conservatives who would not or could not stand up and do the same.

The left went into orbit over El Rushbo's comments. However it seems the left suffers from the double standard when one of their own utters words equally, if not more offensive to describe a conservative woman.

From Power Line:

Millions of Americans voted for Barack Obama in the hope that he would be a trailblazer who would conduct the presidency in a new way. Well, he has: Obama has been the most divisive president in our modern history, unabashedly stirring up hate against not only his political enemies, but against private citizens who exercise their right to participate in our democracy. The most recent hatefest has been directed against Rush Limbaugh, and Obama has personally stirred the pot.

Of course, Obama has had nothing to say about the far worse invective that his own supporters have directed against Republican women. As I noted yesterday, he was asked a question about the double standard in his press conference yesterday, and ducked it. Bill Maher, who has contributed $1 million to re-elect Obama, called Sarah Palin a “c***” and a “dumb t***.” (Hey, when Rush rips a Democratic Party activist, at least you can print what he said on a family web site.) Obama has never criticized Maher or any of his many other supporters and minions who have kept up a steady drumbeat of hate for years. {Read More}

Forgive me but I must digress as a glaring mistake in the above needs be corrected. "... but against private citizens who exercise their right to participate in our democracy." To some this may be a inconsequential point, but we have a republic not a democracy. Never have and hopefully never will. But that is a point for a future post. Back to the subject at hand.

Apparently standards of respect and decency, at lest as far as the President and the left is concerned, need not apply to the misogynists of the left. A pity really, though not at all surprising. I suppose the lack of principles is universal as relates to politics, and and political entertainers.

On video you can see the hypocrisy of some on the left live, up front and center.

People of character and principle expect decency and a show of respect from media figures, politicians, and other actors playing on the national stage. They also figure one ought clean up their own back yard before criticizing the back yard of others.

As to the President being divisive... Yeah there is some truth to the accusation. And yeah... There is also truth in saying so is the other side.

  1. I went after Limbaugh for what he said. Above and beyond how his words then became the conversation instead of the real issue, it wasn't over the top. We don't know her sex life and even if she does sleep around, so what. Not my business.

  2. Les, I do not condone what Rush said, it was terrible, to put it mildly. But the President shouldn't have gotten involved (there are way more pressing matters at hand, most importantly). Plus he didn't get involved when Maher called Palin those disgusting things (as you mentioned in your post). And I don't want to hear that HIS show is supported by subscribers either. So, if Rush's show was on HBO or Sirius radio what he said would be okay then? No freaken way. There would STILL be a huge outcry and boycotts.

When Ms. Fluke testified, she went from Jane Q. Public into the national spotlight and put herself on the same playing field as Palin, or any other public figure, which means she is now far game for respectful scrutiny. However and unfortunately, it got ugly, but if Obama is going to stick up for HER, then he should be sticking up for ALL women in the public arena. He can't pick and choose and then only choose to encourage those on HIS side of the fence. That isn't fair and he's all about fairness, yes? In my opinion, he needs to practice what he preaches or not engage. I would think as the most intelligent President "ever", he'd choose the latter, but hey, that’s just me.

Also, that video ticked me off something fierce. Those Congress Critters are PUBLIC OFFICIALS and they acted SO disrespectfully (media asking the questions is irrelevant as far as I’m concerned!). I so wish to go to the Hill one day and have them just TRY to treat ME like that. I would stand directly in front of them and stop them from walking and let them know, respectfully of course, just who they were ignoring--their BOSS. I pay their wage and they would NOT ignore ME. They would darn well answer MY questions. I am so sick and tired of them dismissing anyone who asks a question that goes AGAINST their darn agenda or tries to get the TRUTH. They make me so angry I could spit (and I really dislike spitting).

  3. It's a veritable food-fight, Les. Between Limbaugh, Hannity, and Levin on the right and Maher, Schultz, and Olbermann on the left, it's a miracle that any of us are still tuning in. Thank the Lord for guys like George Will and David Brooks who are still maintaining a semblance of sanity/decency.

  4. Is that why Chris Christie and Joe Walsh and Allen West are so beloved by Right-Wingers? Because of the respect they show people???

    1. And your point is??? If not to evade the issue, exactly what is your point??? I know it is often difficult to recognize that which one criticizes other groups for actually exists in their own group group. You ought to try it sometime. It is liberating GeG.

    2. The point as you clearly understand is those who identify with Group X have no problem with Group X member savagely insulting a member of a different group.

But, now that R. Limpballs is getting exactly what he deserves for being a loud-mouthed racist, misogynist turd, most Right-Wingers are rushing to his defense.

As for the 3 Republicans I mentioned I've heard and read all the breast beating from conservatives about how disrespectful President Obama is but when these 3 asses insult, yell at and denigrate their constituents they are applauded by conservatives. Hve you ever (and if you have please provide the link) of former Speaker Pelosi acting the way Christie, Walsh and Allen have towards others???

    3. What you and so many other rapid left leaning individuals fail to understand is this... You have shit in your on backyard and fail to clean it up. I, and other rational conservatives (classical liberals) have no problem calling out the asses amongst us and taking them to task.

Prove me wrong please Grunge_Gene. But then again I know you can't.

    4. I can prove you wrong simply by showing your very own blog post praising Allen West for acting like a boorish lout. Please review your own archives before you start slinging the bs of we conservatives police our own.
