The third installment of "What is Capitalism" spends a good deal of time discussing values. While this segment is admittedly a bit dry, it is necessary to the discussion of capitalism and the moral basis that gives it legitimacy.

    America proves Ayn Rand’s ideals. America was the only country that started a tradition of individual freedom and legal elbowroom for creative pebble droppers to lift the freedom and prosperity of community. We saw this expressed in how well local government worked, how vigilantes righted wrongs of the greedy takers, and the Tea Parties today challenge tyranny in Washington, D.C. Those who cower in the shadow of community interests criticize Rand for things that are not true, such as selfishness being held up as self-centeredness, which leads to pride, envy and anger. This she opposed, and Howard Roark sets the example of the outer-centered innovative individual, as expressed in his jury summation in Fountainhead. Her ideals are cited in SAVE PEBBLE DROPPERS & PROSPERITY on claysamerica.com.

I admit it... there are many philosophical, governmental, business, and ethical issues on which the POTUS and me would strongly disagree. I would be being less than honest if I claimed I didn't wish the POTUS were a different individual. Ron Paul - Republican Presidential Candidate I read with great interest Ron Paul's recent statements in Iowa with respect to the 911 attacks on America by Islamic extremists and their primary motivation. Nowhere in candidate Paul's statement did I see where he justified the attacks that resulted in the death of 3,000 plus Americans. What I did read was a rational analysis of what motivated the attackers and why they were so motivated. Call it thinking outside the confines of a restricted and often myopic view of reality. In other words Paul is saying first seek to understand the motivations of a dangerous extremist group and then seek to effect ways to change their reality. IE: Perception. A Rational Senator Blocks Extended Unemployment Benefits

Here you have it folks, the real truth. The socialist/statist left, the champions of the working man, blocking the extension of unemployment benefits to none other than... the working man and women. The Senate failed Thursday to extend benefits programs for laid off workers. The house on the other hand passed a bill that would have extended for one month the program so lawmakers could decide how to address the issue in the long term. The Senate, while trying to follow suit was not successful in  overcoming the strong objections of Senator Jim Bunning, Republican Senator from Kentucky. Senator Bunning would not support the bill on grounds that the additional  ten billion outlay would increase the Federal budget deficit.
