Zaniness in Context

In 2006, Ohio University and Scripps Howard polled a sampling of Democrats on this question: How likely is it that people in the Federal government either assisted in the 9/11 attacks or took no action to stop the attacks because they wanted the United States to go to war in the Middle East? 22.6% of these Democrats responded with "very likely". 28.2% responded with "somewhat likely". Can we PLEASE put to bed this theory that only one side of the political spectrum is loony?

  1. When "Truther" talk started just after 9/11, I immediately thought of the Pearl harbor conspiracy theories. The only difference between the two theories was that many people sympathetic to FDR believed the Pearl harbor theories and thought he actually did the right thing just the same! Truthers do not believe Bush went to war for the right reasons.

The fact of the matter is that there's no way such a conspiracy could be kept secret. It's just too big. If anyone had proof Bush knew 9/11 was coming - specifically - they'd be sitting on inestimable fame and fortune, even if they played a part in it. It's just too big.

Yes, for years now, Truthers (and there are many truthers on the Right too) have been unwavering in their conspiratorial opinions. There's probably nothing we can do to get them to rationally, logically, sensibly look at the untenability of their theory.

Same goes for Birthers. Same goes for Righties who to this day insist that Reaganomics have been good for the vast majority of Americans even though the eveidence completely contradicts that belief.

A man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest. Paul Simon sure hit that on the head.

  2. Did George Soros pay for the 9/11 conspiracy also?

  3. As far as I know, TAO, Soros does not play with the Truthers. Do you know something otherwise? Or are you just passing gas?
