The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any band of regular troops that can be, on any pretence, raised in the United States." –Noah Webster, An Examination of the Leading Principles of the Federal Constitution, 1787 That was then. In an interview with the Daily Times Herald in Carroll, Iowa, state Rep. Dan Muhlbauer said governments should start confiscating semi-automatic rifles and other firearms. Muhlbauer, a Democrat from the western Iowa town of Manilla, is a cattleman and farmer. The newspaper reported that he owns a .410 shotgun, a .22 rifle and a .22 pistol. “We cannot have big guns out here as far as the big guns that are out here, the semi-automatics and all of th...

May 28, 2020-The Lincoln Project’s latest ad released today shows that U.S. Senate Majority Leader and senior senator from Kentucky, Mitch McConnell, made tens of millions of dollars since he was first elected to office. Meanwhile, Kentucky ranks 40th in job opportunity in the nation, 45th in education, and 43rd in health care. “I’m a conservative lawyer of the type that McConnell has prided himself for putting on the bench. But precisely because I’m a conservative lawyer, I believe most fundamentally in the Constitution and the rule of law,” said Lincoln Project co-Founder George Conway. “When he fixed the impeachment trial by blocking evidence of Trump’s high crimes and misdemeanors, McConnell violated and abased the solemn oaths he took as a United States Senator. Add in the fact that, as our ad shows, he’s managed to do much better for himself than for the people of Kentucky, and it becomes a no-brainer: McConnell has to go.” It is most critically important that we DUMP TRU...
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation U SA Purveyor of Truth Is anybody, and I mean ANYBODY in either party really serious about controlling the explosive rate of debt growth we have experienced since the 2008/2009 meltdown? I really think not. Mitch McConnell talking to Chris Wallace about raising the debt ceiling. Below the fold THINK PROGRESS weighs in. Content as expected from a far left publication. Meanwhile, over at CBS and Bob Schieffer's FACE the NATION Ted Cruz chimed in and actually made a bit of sense. Assuming of course he, and anyone else is really concerned with debt control or reduction. BOB SCHIEFFER: Well, now, just a minute. Just a minute. The government is approaching another deadline February 7, when it will run out of money unless Congress agrees to raise the debt ceiling. Will you agree to raise the debt ceiling, or will you demand something in return. SEN. TED CRUZ: Look, of course, we should do something. We shouldn't just write a bl...
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty -vs- Tyranny Mr. Governor Romney... Neither I or most Americans really care a whole lot about how much money you have made during your career. Hell, most of us wish we had the business acumen, savvy, and drive to have accomplished the same for ourselves and our families. We really do understand that you did build your business yourself. We also understand that at times in your growth trajectory in building your business and becoming a multimillionaire that you enlisted the advice and counsel of knowledgeable people to advise you. Hell, even a small time manager like myself understands we achieved our own success through hard work and dedication. But we did have advisers and support teams that actually made sure we didn't, well, you know, F-up. As I always said, and firmly believe... I was only as good as my people. People whose performance by the way I was also responsible for. Maybe Mr. Obama, and even you Mr. Romney might be ...
By: Les Carpenter III Rational Nation USA After almost a year of blogging I have come to the realization that America has decided to take the path leading to European Socialism and ultimately fascism. Forgive me if you disagree with my analysis but it really matters not which party is in power. The only demonstrable difference is the rapidity the nation will realize total and complete socialism/fascism. As Ayn Rand so accurately pointed out, and I paraphrase... When good compromises with evil good acquires a measure of evil and by this process evil is strengthened. For almost a year I have listened to the irrational rants of left, as well as reading a myriad of writings by those on the left that IMO enjoy, and in fact revel in finding everything they can to tear this nation and it greatness apart. While they may proclaim their efforts are to make this a better nation they are in reality doing everything possible to help mold the nations future in the...
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation U S A Purveyor of Truth Following last nights rather mundane and short on specifics SOTU by President Obama I started thinking about the future and if there is anyone in the current ranks of the GOP or the Libertarian Party who could possibly be elected to the presidency in 2016. Frankly given the crop of malcontents and loonies(Christie doesn't fall into that group but he has shot himself in the big toe) that seem to be getting attention in the GOP it appears unlikely. Tonight while browsing the net the following article popped up and given the headline was along my line of thinking last it was a must read. Got me thinking again and if the GOP can find the intelligence to act along the lines of thought presented in the article there may just be a real race in 2016 rather than a shoo in for the democrats. NationalJournal - For a party that's accustomed to nominating the next-in-line presidential candidate, 2016 promises to be a very un...

Rational Nation USA Purveyor of Truth While this site is neither a Warren or Clinton advocate in any broad sense of the word it does acknowledge that it would serves us all well to listen to what they have to say with respect to the Obama trade deal. Trade deals should be structured and tiled so as to serve our nations best interests. There is probable reason to believe this one, like NAFTA fails to do so. POLITICO - Y ou need to tell me what’s wrong with this trade agreement, not one that was passed 25 years ago,” a frustrated President Barack Obama recently complained about criticisms of the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP). He’s right. The public criticisms of the TPP have been vague. That’s by design—anyone who has read the text of the agreement could be jailed for disclosing its contents. I’ve actually read the TPP text provided to the government’s own advisors, and I’ve given the president an earful about how this trade deal will damage this nation. But I can’t share my cr...
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation U S A L i b e r t y -vs- T y r a n n y This is a day I have long waited for. A day that gives me great satisfaction. Reasoned and reasonable liberals and conservatives in a bi-partisan fashion have sent a strong and constitutionally correct signal to the President. Perhaps most rewarding for me is that these conservatives are finally acting like conservatives ought to be acting every time it comes to ordering military action against another sovereign nation. With extreme skepticism and caution. Liberals, to their great credit are "bucking" their party leader. Good news from both sides of the aisle. Perhaps the ultimate outcome will be as the President seems to favor. If the President listens to the peoples representatives , whether they give or withhold Congressional approval for intervention the people have won. Just as our Founders intended. Maybe this mood will take hold and last? Naw, not likely given the republican tendency to ...
