Nixon-era White House counsel John Dean: Nixon was 'corrupt,' but Trump is 'evil'

Truer words have never been spoken.

Ex-White House counsel John Dean believes history will view former President Richard Nixon's protracted Watergate scandal as "a brief idyllic daydream" following President Trump's "evil" administration.

"Trump’s is making the long nightmare of Nixon’s Watergate seem like a brief idyllic daydream," Dean tweeted late Saturday night. "History will treat Nixon’s moral failures as relatively less troubling than Trump’s sustained and growing decadence, deviousness and self-delusive behavior. Nixon=corrupt; Trump=evil."

  1. And in the words of Karen Carpenter, we've only just begun. Everyday is another "end of the world" moment.

Can the democracy take it all? How long til people just up say enough and tune out? Soon we may be just like Mexico, streaming to the polls on election day, knowing full well that ballot we mark will not make a whit of difference.

    Unless we're already there...

    1. I don't know if the country at large is there yet Dave. I do know I am. If I didn't have grandkids and the wife was willing I'd seriously be considering leaving the country. tRump sickens me that much.

    2. Neglected to say the GOP as a whole sickens me as well at this point in time.

  2. I heard one person say he'd vote for a dog catcher at this point of there was a D after his name.

Look, I get the far right is pissed off at folks like Jim Acosta of CNN. But, and I think this is huge, Sam Donaldson gave it to Pres Reagan in spades. Every chance he got. He was brutal. And Reagan never took the bait. A president who admitted he broke the law on Iran Contra, who was battered for weeks about that, never stooped to the level of publishing false videos, calling the press the enemy of the ppl and mocking them publicly.

Why can't, or better yet, why won't Trump act like Reagan? Just let the press roll off his back.

    The GOP has become childish.

    1. Reagan was an American that loved his country and RESPECTED our constitution as well. He understood the value AND necessity of a free and independent press for a democratic republic to survive. tRump loves only himself, his wealth, and his bimbos. He doesn't understand or give a rats ass about our constitution or the values that made America the shining light that it once was.

tRump is evil and not worth as much as the hanky I blow my nose on. He has earned the total disrespect of all real Americans.

  3. 85 year old RBG took a tumble last evening in her office, broke three ribs and this morning was admitted to the hospital.

In related news...Amy Coney Barrett was warming up in the bullpen under the watchful eye of Mitch McConnell.

  4. Yeah, I saw that Rusty... the Dems are getting the machines ready to keep her "alive" no matter what happens. I hope she's okay. Unlike a lot of folks, I'm not one to wish ill will, sickness or death on a political foe.

It's what I hope separates me from the crazy Freethinkers that are out there.

But... I'm not sure trump would go with Barrett. Just sayin...

    1. Sorry Rev but Coney Barrett was Trumps back up to Kavanaugh...personally I would have preferred her but she will be a good replacement for RBG.

Hey Rev, I've often wondered why the present day Democratic party doesn't seemed too concerned about SCOTUS or the lower courts.
I was not very upset about losing the House majority but I was much more concerned about the Senate and maintaining the ability to pack the courts which is what Mitch McConnell has been quietly been doing.

    2. RS... Could be on Barrett RS. I've got some conservative lawyer friends who really like her.

As for the rest of SCOTUS, maybe the Dems just see the writing on the wall and know they can't do anything about the judicial branch until they get back into power in the Senate. Look, Harry Reid aside, the GOP played disgusting politics on the judicial branch while the Dems had the majority. I get it's politics, but what McConnell did was BS. The GOP said nominate Merrick Garland and said they'd approve him earlier in Obama's term. So he did. And they dissed him 100%.

Did the GOP not think that would drive the Dems nuts, or is that why they did it.

I won't be surprised if the Dems add seats to SCOTUS when they get back into power. If partisanship is how you have to play the game, believe me, the Dems got some guys just as Machiavellian.

  5. Do you think freethinkers in general are crazy or are you referring just to the FreeThinke, aka Franco, types Dave?

  6. RN... HA! You probably know the answer to that one...

  7. It's going to be another rollercoaster of a ride until Election 2020 passes for sure. I think you and I will agree about the ride, even though we will disagree on who should be in power. I did want to say that there has been some talk from people in Southern California wanting Maxine Waters to take over as Speaker of the House. Some of the Southern California Democrats I've spoken with have told me they're embarassed over Nancy Pelosi's antics and would prefer Maxine Waters take the helm of Speaker.

    1. DR... certainly many Dems across the country are tired of Pelosi. I've not heard anyone serious even float Waters as a possibility. If it's someone like her, Pres trump will have a field day.

I think if they go for a change, look younger.

  8. My personal view is the dems need to look to the 40-55 crowd for a dynamic leader and retire the octogenarian. Maxine Waters would not necessarily be a good selection either. But, both beat anything the GOP would have to offer.

And your right, I will do whatever I can do to see tRump is dumped in 2020.

  9. CALLED OUT: California Firefighters Union president to Trump: ‘You’re an idiot’ Trump's former SoS, Tillerson called Trump a "fking moron," John Kelly called him an "idiot," do we see a pattern here?

  10. The President of the California Firefighters Union is a smart and honest man. tRump is indeed a World Class Idiot.
