A Poster Child of the NRA?......

Found on a rightwing Nutter tRumpian weblog. The NRA was, many years ago, an organization that supported hunters, responsible firearm ownership, and training. Today it is a quasi criminal group. One that nuts like the blog proprietor who posted the following fully support. At the expense of American victims of gun crimes.

  1. What is most troubling is that the picture of the young women appears to be a person barely beyond childhood. Disturbing as that is in and of itself the fact she is dressed as a militant militia member would be dressed is telling. America has a real problem. One its government hasn't the cajones to face up to and resolve. The NRA and gun/ammo manufactures are riding the wave of gun violence to increased profits and political clout.

    America has a problem...

  2. RN... let's look at our population and the people that do a great majority of these mass shootings. They are of European descent. Period. It's not Muslims, it's not black folks, it's not Mexicans. They are primarily white men with European roots.

Now, that is also the majority group of folks living in Canada.

Can someone explain to me why the US has way more mass shootings than Canada, even while both countries are from the same basic cultural background? Are people just more mentally ill here? Or is there another reason why we don't see the same type of violent outbursts just across our northern border, literally a few miles away?

    1. For one thing, the US is a lot more religious than Canada. If you compare nations across the world, or even compare states of the US -- the more religious the culture is, the more violence there is.

    2. Yes Infidel, you are absolutely correct. Thank you for pointing this out. Although the most religious will undoubtedly deny it.

  3. All good observations Dave. I too wish somebody, anybody, could explain why. Frankly I doubt anyone will offer many reasonable explanations, if they offer any at all. By that I mean the gun nutters and the home grown militia type personalities. Which leads me back to my original thought, the NRA, gun manufacturers, and the pols beholden to the NRA is the reason. IE the American culture of guns, guns, and more guns being the cultural norm in the USA.

I might add fear of governmental authority and power is a part of the equation. One I find most amusing because the ery people who are most adamant about the sanctity of the 2'nd amendment are the ones who voted into the presidency and individual most likely to abuse his power and force totalitarian rule were he able to do so. The evidence is there if one chooses to look for it.

  4. Guys our age (maybe I'm older than you) understand the change, the difference. I'm not sure the younger people even understand what rational, responsible gun ownership was like back in the 1950's. Why would they.
IMO it has gone beyond trying to bring it back to some sanity of what it used to be, so if people want to start banning guns, that's fine with me.
Screw the NRA, they are to blame.
Like many things in our society people have proven they cannot be responsible, so we pass laws making it illegal. When I was a kid (7-8-9-10) a guy wouldn't be caught without a pocket knife on him. Now that's a serious offense.
The first "shooter" incident I remember was the Texas Tower shooter. I think it was 1962, or 63. It was big national news because things like that just did not happen. Now it's an everyday occurrence. It's a different country today and I wouldn't want to be a kid growing up today.
How long will this country put up with senseless deaths by guns?
How long will this country put up with Trump?

    1. I don't know how old you are Jerry but I'm closing in on 67 and I remember distinctly all that you mention. Not only did I have a pocket knife that I carried, even to school, I used to go target practicing with my dad at the gravel pit in the town I lived in in Washington state. Times were different then and so were people. Sometimes I think times were better then and maybe I'm right. Respect, personal responsibility, and accountability were alive and well then. Today, not so much.

  8. Also, our gun laws and the worship of the old lead thrower is fairly unique.

    1. Well Jerry, we are a unique people. Right? Uniqueness really should not surprise anyone. Being a fiercely independent people one could say our love of weapons was a natural outgrowth.

  9. I’m not so sure I would say we are unique people or fiercely independent...at least not in a good way.

    1. Yeah, you may very well be right Jerry. As the nation grows ever more removed from its founding the less unique we are. With that the independence Americans once had has turned more to selfishness and a screw your neighbor ethos. tRump is perhaps the most glaring example of this.

The question to be faced and answered is... Is there a path back so that we can become the nation so many of our Founding Fathers envisioned.

Emulating the example of George H. W. Bush might be a very good start.

  10. Well, George H W Bush had his problems. Compared to Donald, however, he was a saint and out of earned respect for a very recently deceased President, I won’t go into that now.

    1. I note George H.W. Bush is now ranked at 17 & 20 among all presidents. IOW he is much nearer the top than the bottom.

Both GWB and tRump are very near the bottom. Certainly exactly where tRump has shown himself to belong.
