Debate #1 is now history. We have heard what the news networks and pundits have said. What is important is what you the people have to say.
So... what say you?

Romney moved to the center with his comments about how the wealthiest will not get a tax cut under him. Of course that was BS but the debates are more about appearance than substance. In that regard, Romney did the better job. Obama better sharpen up for the next two debates. Last night I think will propel Romney.
ReplyDeleteTo borrow someone else's phrase, Obama got Mitt Slapped last night!
ReplyDeleteEven CNN concedes it was a win for Romney
Sure, lets have another liar as president that worked out well when Bush won.
ReplyDeleteDuring Wednesday night’s president debate, Mitt Romney claimed that “half” of the green firms Obama invested “have gone out of business” and noted that “a number of them happened to be owned by people who were contributors to your campaigns.”
ReplyDeleteFact checkers quickly pounced on the claim, explaining that only a tiny percentage of firms that received grants or loans from the Recovery Act have actually filed for bankruptcy. And now, the Romney campaign itself is walking back the GOP presidential candidate’s claim.
Wow! Gov. Romney won the debate by lying and flip-flopping on his core principles.
And the pundits are falling all over themselves saying what a great job he did.
Yes he did do a great job of saying lots of stuff that simply wasn't true.
CNN called it for Mitt, as SF pointed out. But what SF won't tell us is that CNN also called Mitt's performance "mostly fiction." David Gergen, no liberal, said Mitt was "just sort of flat-out lying." FactCheck.org "Romney came off as a serial exaggerator." And finally the Washington Post: "Wednesday night was too little too late for Romney."
He won the debate on performance, but lost it in truthfulness.
This helps us to understand why the GOP is rooting for him.

What you read there may surprise you. I have not run with the pundits liberal or otherwise. I watched the show twice and then wrote an of-the-cuff review this morning.
It never ceases to amuse and amaze me how both sides have their own set of facts, and both sides invariably accuse the other of "lying," while never owning up to any culpability of their own.
If Romney was lying, The Bamboozler-in-Chief was outdoing him at least five to one.
In order to be a successful politician, one must be a serenely confident, bald-faced liar with balls of brass and no capacity whatsoever to feel shame, regret or remorse.
The Clintons and Ocommie are past masters of the game. Lying with a straight face when confronted with overwhelming evidence of guilt may be their single greatest accomplishment singly and collectively.
Mitt Romney, whatever faults he may have as a candidate, and whatever scurrilous things you may want to say about him, has a sweet, handsome face, which at age sixty-five reflects good character, decency, kindness and a life well spent.
FactCheck.org is run by the Annenberg Foundation. Need I say more? SNOPES, whose very name sounds patently offensive, is operated by the Mikkelsons -- a husband wife team of muckrakers from socialist CANADA -- who from the tone of everything I've read at their site (PLENTY!) have a profound liberal bias.
I do not trust either of these organizations.
We need to know WHO CHECKS the Fact Checkers?
Do CONSERVATIVES get EQUAL TIME in the Verification Department? So far, I've seen no evidence of it.
And for Christ's sake, PLEASE let's start calling them what they are: VERIFICATION SERVICES. Every time I see or hear some idiot use "fact check" as a verb, I cringe, and my stomach ties itself into a painful knot.

And by the way, Les, I agree that it is a national DISGRACE that Gary Johnson and other declared legitimate candidates not strictly from the lunatic fringe were excluded from the debates.
