The first three segments of a lecture by Professor Leonard Peikoff introducing Objectivism to students beginning a study of philosophy. It is basic but for those interested in gaining a sense of, and a better understanding of the philosophy developed by Ayn Rand it os a good place to start.

    just finished listening to the lecture you presented, Les. would i be wrong in saying that the objectivist views himself as being farther to the right than even the libertarian is?

      No. Actually, The objectivist is much more likely to hold views more aligned with liberal thinking. As in the enlightened thinkers of the 18th century such as Jefferson and Madison. The Objectivist thinking is closely aligned with the philosophy of Aristotle rather than say Plato or Hegel to name just two.

Congress is about to adjourn for the The Fourth of July recess without having passed a bill to extend underemployment benefits. While the Dem's have claimed the Republicans as unsympathetic to the plight of the long term unemployed they have rejected several compromise offers by the GOP that would gain it's support. Namely that at least a part of bill be paid for. Democrats are going to hold out and will use this as a political lie in a sad attempt to gain political ca;ital. Forgive me if you disagree with my analysis but it really matters not which party is in power. He has assured FOX News that they will be covering it in "a very big fashion." He anticipates it will be released Wednesday. Presumably (IMNHO) to allow time for spin activity following tonight's debate. Right... Like the pompous blowhard that he is it is really all about the buildup of negative imagery and creating the perception of dastardly and apocalyptic consequences should America reelect President Obama. Perhaps it is so that if Obama is reelected it may very well be a net negative for the country (I believe it is). However, the truth is the country will still be here in another four years.
