The Progressive Spin Machine, Central Tenets
a) Anything good that happens during Obama's tenure, credit is given him. b) Anything bad that happens during Obama's tenure, blame George Bush. c) Rinse and repeat.............P.S. This was at least somewhat tongue-in-cheek. There certainly ARE a fair assemblage of principled progressives who HAVE criticized Obama; his idiotic surge in Afghanistan, the huge # of civilian deaths in Northern Pakistan resulting from the drone attacks, his questionable association to Franklin Raines, etc.. But, overall, I'm saying, the Debbie Wasserman Schultzes of the planet - I'm surprised that that insane clown posse hasn't tried to blame Mr. Bush for the Tate Labianca murders.
Sometimes I question these labels, progressive versus conservative. In this instance, are liberals ‘conservative’ and conservatives ‘radical’ with respect to preserving the foundations of constitutional law? I refer to Article VI, paragraph 3 of the U.S. Constitution, which clearly states:
ReplyDelete“ … no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.”
Yet, here are 5 Founding Fathers Whose Skepticism About Christianity Would Make Them Unelectable Today.
In the State of Florida, this bill, Senate Bill 98, is scheduled for a vote TODAY. The bill would let school districts overrule the objections of religious minorities and organize school-sponsored prayer under the banner of student government. Under the bill, school officials would be able to skirt the Constitutional protections of religious liberty (i.e. the Constitutional separation of church and state) by letting students actually vote on what kind of prayers the school will allow and conduct.
Most disturbing of all, the bill gives underage children … children! … the power to trash the Constitution, treat religious freedom as a popularity contest as if electing a prom queen, and compel minority students by peer pressure to engage in religious practices that go against their own beliefs.
This is the worst case of social conservative overreach within my lifetime. And yes, it is FASCISM!
"his idiotic surge in Afghanistan
ReplyDeleteHe had to do that, since progressives labeled that on "the good war" that Iraq (the bad war) was stealing resources from.
Now they're stuck, or more accurately, our military men and women are stuck, while progressives blithely move on to the next disaster.
He boxed himself into a corner. You're absolutely right on that one, SF.
ReplyDeleteOcto - Excellent article! Thanks for linking it. Many could learn from these great leaders.
