Attorney General Eric Holder confirmed this morning on ABC that Faisal Shahzad was indeed financed and directed by the Pakistani Taliban. Known as Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan the group plotted the failed Times Square bombing attempt.
Holder had this to say during his Sunday morning interview with Jake Tapper on ABC's 'This Week."
"We've now developed evidence that that shows that Pakistan Taliban was behind the attack. We know they helped facilitate it, we know that they helped finance it, and that he {suspected bomber Faisal Shahzad} was working working at their direction."
Politico reports that in addition the Obama administration is open to and would consider modifying Miranda rules that have the effect of protecting suspected criminals while in custody. The Attorney General indicated the administration would work with the Congress to revise the public safety exemptions. These exemptions provide for delays in Miranda rights in the event a suspect knowledge of imminent danger to the public.
Here is what he said... "The {Miranda} system we have in place has proven to be effective. I think we also want to look at and determine whether we have the necessary flexibility - whether we have a system that deals with situations that agents now confront . ... We're now dealing with international terrorism."
Really Mr. Holder, you {and presumable your boss as well} just determined now we have been dealing with international terrorists? Better late than never I guess. Perhaps the Obama administration is finally seeing the face of Islamic Jihadist terrorism for what is and always has been.
