A Conservative Manifesto (revised 11/25/15) (1/24/17)

I consider the principles of true, independent conservatism to be the belief in:
1) Limited effective government with authority granted to it as enumerated in our Constitution

2) A true free market capitalist economy, that is to say a market regulated to insure honest competition. For a market to be free it must be regulated.

3) A judiciary (Supreme Court) that interprets law from a constitutionalist prospective.

4) A legislative branch that recognizes their responsibility is to the people and not their own corrupt political interests or those of any special interest group.

5) A government that recognizes the rights of the individual as delineated in our Bill of Rights and the Constitution.

6) A government that views its mandate to tax the citizenry as limited to funding the proper role of government. Which includes providing for the national defense and the general welfare of the nation.

7) A government that recognizes the value of borders, language, and culture and insures that we have effective laws to control immigration into our country. As a nation of immigrants we should remain a melting pot but must do so wisely.

8) A government that recognizes the only appropriate use of deadly force is in the defense of our borders and our people

9) A government that protects the rights of all to free political and religious speech as well as written expression of the same.

10) A government that insures its citizens are protected from crimes against their person or property, and when necessary administers proper and effective redress.

I admit it... there are many philosophical, governmental, business, and ethical issues on which the POTUS and me would strongly disagree. I would be being less than honest if I claimed I didn't wish the POTUS were a different individual. One whose governing practices and philosophy of government more closely resembled that of Founding Fathers and responsible independent modern conservatives. The reality is however just this. The people of the United States elected this man to the highest office in the land for four years. Ron Paul - Republican Presidential Candidate I read with great interest Ron Paul's recent statements in Iowa with respect to the 911 attacks on America by Islamic extremists and their primary motivation. Nowhere in candidate Paul's statement did I see where he justified the attacks that resulted in the death of 3,000 plus Americans. What I did read was a rational analysis of what motivated the attackers and why they were so motivated. Call it thinking outside the confines of a restricted and often myopic view of reality. In other words Paul is saying first seek to understand the motivations of a dangerous extremist group and then seek to effect ways to change their reality. IE: Perception. Because perception is reality to all people who perceive. Those who perpetrated the 911 attacks on America were monsters, and they deserved to face a full and justified...

If Governor Christie indeed had no involvement in the closings, and at this point is is prudent to assume he didn't, the valid question is... should he have known?
