In the continuing and seemingly never ending search for the full truth of Benghazi a new book, “13 Hours,” is likely to provide further insights, as well as stirring the political embers not yet extinguished. Much the the chagrin of the democrats and the powers that be we sure.
Prepare for the next chapter of almost non stop political and media chatter. Hopefully the nation finds the answers it is entitled to and processes and procedures are put in place to minimize the possibility (as well as likelihood )of this happening again.

CAIRO — Five commandos guarding the C.I.A. base in Benghazi, Libya, in September 2012 say that the C.I.A. station chief stopped them from interceding in time to save the lives of Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and an American technician during the attack on the diplomatic mission there.
In a new book scheduled for release next week and obtained by The New York Times, the commandos say they protested repeatedly as the station chief ordered them to wait in their vehicles, fully armed, for 20 minutes while the attack on the diplomatic mission was unfolding less than a mile away.
“If you guys do not get here, we are going to die!” a diplomatic security agent then shouted to them over the radio, the commandos say in the book, and they left the base in defiance of the chief’s continuing order to “stand down.”
Republicans have blamed President Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton, then the secretary of state, for the security failure.

According to CNN's Jake Tapper, Robert Baer, and Drew Griffin, approximately three dozen witnesses and survivors (a large chunk of them working for the C.I.A.) of the Benghazi terrorist attack have been forced by the federal government to sign nondisclosure agreements (the purpose of which being to keep them from talking to the media and to Congress, obviously) and take almost weekly lie detector tests to verify their compliance to it. If this isn't proof-positive that this administration clearly does not want the American public to know what truly happened in Libya, then I don't know what is. And the fact that this media of ours (aside from the three individuals mentioned above and CBS's Sharyl Attkisson) hasn't been putting more pressure on them is an absolute disgrace.
ReplyDeleteIndeed it is Will indeed it is
ReplyDeleteSpeKing truth to power is a guaranteed recipe for job loss, or worse yet character assassination. The bureaucratoc power of the federal government is truly frightening. There are many who would increase it further in the name of the good of all.
So I guess the republicans are all involved in it too given the republican house committee report. Who would have guessed that they would give Obama a pass when they could have crucified him.
ReplyDeleteYou're certainly not expecting me to defend the Republicans, are you Jerry?
DeleteAre you saying that the republican witch hunt on Benghazi was a sham and they produced the report as a cover for Obama. Maybe it was payback for not prosecuting Bush for war crimes. Ya think?
Delete" Maybe it was payback for not prosecuting Bush for war crimes"
DeleteConsidering that there is no evidence of any war crimes by Bush , that's an odd red herring to toss in there, but you were going off the deep end in that comment anyway.
I don't know if I would go as far as to call Benghazi a scam in that Obama was still peddling the video story 2 weeks after the attack and he obviously stood to gain politically from peddling such a cockamamie narrative.............As for Bush and the war crimes accusation, that's fine, Jerry. But you then also have to acknowledge that Lincoln, TR, FDR, and LBJ were war criminals in that what those fellows did was far, FAR, worse than what Bush 2 did.
DeleteWe seem to have wandered a bit off my original point (sorry for my off topic push), but I still wonder if Will (or anyone else) does not believe the republican written report on Benghazi and if not, why would the republicans let Obama off the hook when they could have created a real problem for him?
DeletePerhaps Jerry because by not seriously pressing the issue, and until now they lacked the supporting corroboration, they could keep the flames alive while pissing on Obama's parade???
DeleteI don't know. It seems more like they are pissing on the flames rather than the parade.
DeleteI'm thinking, and forgive me If I'm off base here, it seems the rush by some on the left to completely discount this is just shall we say telling?
DeleteJust sayin...
What rush? The republican house investigation is complete and reported on. It is supposedly the defining document.
DeleteSometimes those in the ruling elite have more in common with each other than otherwise, Jerry.
ReplyDeleteOr is that most of the time, instead of just sometime?
It is becoming vividly clear many seek ,and find comfort in, hiding out in their proverbial "box."
