As the Nation Braces Itself...

Liberty -vs - Tyranny

Trayvon Martin, a 17 year old Floridian approaching manhood was shot and killed last month in Sanford. Initial reports left little doubt in the mind of most that a grave injustice had been committed.

George Zimmerman, a 26 year old community watch member after being told by the police officer who answered his call not to follow Trayvon chose to ignore police advice. Shortly after Trayvon lay dead from bullet wounds inflicted by Zimmerman's weapon.

Trayvon was armed with his own physical stature, a cup of iced tea, and a bag of skittles.

This case has inflamed the passions of a nation. As it well should. A young man's life was snuffed out because of the unconfirmed suspicions of one man who may or may not be a racist but most assuredly in ignoring police advice took the law into his own hands.

Since the story broke nationally last week America is once again experiencing the strain of racial tensions and divisiveness. Tensions are being fed by both the right and the left, white and black. Rather than focusing on bringing clarity to the circumstances the night Feb. 26th, and finding the full truth so that justice is swift swiftly and properly served, certain members of our society now seem more interested in destructive pursuits rather than healing.

I shall say no more as those who have visited my site know my position based on what I believe is significant.

Looking at several reports today I could not help but be saddened by what I saw. Perhaps from the divisive rhetoric, that at times seems almost hateful, some good may eventually come of it.

  1. Your defense of Martin and judgment of Zimmerman only works if you can prove that Zimmerman didn't stop following Martin.

Eyewitnesses are saying he was returning to his vehicle when Martin attacked.

Besides, the real Trayvon Martin is being revealed and he wasn't that baby-faced kid in a football uniform the leftist media wants you to think he was. He spoke and dressed like a typical gangsta thug wanna-be. His Twitter account is X-rated, and now we have his mother claiming the media is seeking to kill her son's reputation. She is clueless as to what her son's reputation really was.

Perhaps the reason the local Sanford police released Zimmerman was because it really is an open and shut case of self-defense.

Until the media and those who read the news scream injustice about blacks killing blacks and blacks killing whites, this situation is nothing more than leftist theater. Trayvon's mother is seeking to trademark her son's death. Typical Democrat strategy ala Rahm Emanuel: Don't let a good crisis go to waste!

When the police release the statements of Zimmerman and witnesses, the leftist media is going to have a great deal of back-pedaling to do. Or they'll sweep it under their carpet and pretend nothing happened, stranding the social-justice racist militant crowd high and dry.

Trayvon Martin is indeed dead. George Zimmerman did indeed shoot him. Fact. But there's more to this than what has been presented. I guarantee it.

  2. Perhaps, we'll have to wait it out. One thing is certain, Trayvon was unarmed. Deadly force by Zimmerman was not required.

The point is , as sad as it is this young man's death is being manipulated by many many in the media and blogs nationwide.

    1. Indeed. Some post-racial America we live in, huh? There's too much money and too much social network airtime to be had to not keep racism alive.

I disagree with your view, RNUSA, but that doesn't mean I won't return here. I think, when all the smoke clears and all the info is out there, both of us might be surprised. I surely do not know every single detail.

      Waiting and waiting.

    2. Thanks One Guy 2012. We really are not as far apart as it might appear on the surface.

Racism is as Rand said the worst and most insidious form of collectivism there is. She was right. If everyone would only think it through.

    3. No, thank you, RNUSA. If indeed Zimmerman shot and killed Martin in an act of vigilante justice, or was racially motivated, then by all means THROW the book at him. On this we definitely agree.

But even I have been shystered into believing what the leftist media first put forth. Now, however, I am seeing things quite differently. Did Martin deserve to die, if statements about who he really was are true? Hardly. But like I have said, things are coming out that are causing me to take a true step back and be more objective.

One thing that still stands out is that the local police in Sanford didn't make anyhting of this incident, which leads me (perhaps incorrectly) to believe that this is a case of self-defense and nothing more. After all, witnesses say that Martin was beating Zimmerman. No proof has been brought forth that Zimmerman was openly brandishing his gun, chasing after Martin, or instigating a response from Martin so he could shoot him and claim self-defense.

We do know he was told by the 911 cop to not follow Martin. We do not know without a shadow of a doubt that he did not obey this, but by then it was too late, and he had inadvertently prompted a violent response from Martin.

Is Zimmerman a hero or someone I would crow on and on about? Nah. But I am starting to think that in this instance he was turned from being a concerned neighborhood watchman to being a victim of assault, and that right there is where I see it at this time.

      Thanks for the dialogue!

    4. What we both want is justice, and it reason and reasonable people now investigating this justice will prevail. There are cer5tainly new things to consider, and all "evidence" must be considered.

I remain steadfast that based on all current information deadly force was the wrong choice.

  3. Back when I was a kid, walkin' down the street, mindin' my own business, if some guy started checking me out, I'd be concerned. As an adult now, I'd be concerned.

I might, if frightened enough, attempt to take things into my own hands. So far, with the shamefully limited evidence we ostensibly have, we are led to think Trayvon overreacted to situation, attacking a dumber, weaker man, who could only harass him.

But... Zinnerman was armed. He was strutting about taking the Castle Doctrine on a road trip. And thanks to a, yet again, stupid, stupid, stupid, populist-conservative law, no one bothered to look at what happened.

It's the Wild West, gang! Have a shoot 'em up ball!!!

  4. How 'bout that New Black Panther Party, though, huh? What a piece of work those SOBs are.

  5. They'd have a little more cause than Zimmerman, Will, wouldn't they?

    1. JMJ,

So if the New Black Panther Panties Party were to get ahold of George Zimmerman, innocent until proven guilty, and killed him, you would turn a blind eye to that, or shrug your shoulders and say, "He had it comin'"?

      ....I'm speechless.
