The "Weiner" Implosion

Liberty -vs- Tyranny

As Representative Anthony Weiner continues to implode the democratic leadership is abandoning the once hailed liberal icon of of the "cause" post haste.

It is as it should be.

What I am wondering is whether the action is really driven by ethical and moral considerations or the need to salvage the progressive agenda of the far left.

The opinion of one lonely independent conservative is that it is the later. But, as I always say, to each their own.

From Politico:
The leaders of the Democratic Party abandoned scandal-plagued Rep. Anthony Weiner en masse Saturday after it was revealed that he had communicated online with a 17-year-old Delaware girl, throwing into serious doubt his vow to remain in office.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and the party’s top campaign chiefs — Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) and Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Steve Israel (D-N.Y.) — all called on Weiner to resign in statements released within minutes of each other.

Weiner, a New York Democrat, admitted on Monday that he had sent sexually charged text messages and photographs to a series of six women over three years. On Friday, FOX News reported that Wilmington-area police had visited a Delaware teenager to discuss his back-and-forth with her.

Weiner and the girl’s family have told news outlets that there was no indecent communication, but the evidence that he carried on a discussion of any kind with a 17-year-old girl was clearly the final straw for Democratic leaders.

“Congressman Weiner has the love of his family, the confidence of his constituents, and the recognition that he needs help,” Pelosi said Saturday. “I urge Congressman Weiner to seek that help without the pressures of being a Member of Congress.”

A day earlier, Pelosi had declined to call for him to resign after inquiries to her office.

Israel and Wasserman Schultz were less generous in their assessment of their colleague.

“Anthony’s inappropriate behavior has become an insurmountable distraction to the House and our work for the American people. With a heavy heart, I call on Anthony to resign,” Israel said. {Read More}

  1. The left HAS no "ethical and moral considerations" or they'd be conservatives! :-)

  2. The Left is offering Weiner as a sacrifice to the god of making for themselves a better image and one not so wrought with freakshow liberalism and blatant progressive vitriol for America.

Weiner is an offering, if you will. He was a useful idiot, but no one really liked him. (We know this, but now the Left is showing their true faces.)

As to morals...yikes! He's a liberal Democrat. No one expects him to have moral character or a moral compass. When this story broke I shrugged and said, "Yeah. And?" because he's a liberal who has no strength of character or heart. He's a whining, typical, jackass liberal with a big mouth that finally said too much. And now look at him.

I know you aren't a religious man, Les, but the God I worship has said a person will indeed reap what they sow. Weiner has a chance for redemption, in my opinion, but for now he is in a season of humiliation, degradation, being exposed, being mocked and vilified, and essentially having everyone turn their backs to him. He had this coming, Les.

The test will be: what will he do now?

  3. I guess that I'm kind of a renegade on this, Les. This, in that it really kind of disgusts me to see how these bozos: Wasserman Schultz, Sherrod Brown, etc. are throwing this poor bastard to the wolves. And they're doing it strictly for political consideration, too. Man, huh, with friends like this?
