Christine O'Donnell... A Distraction Carrying a Price

By: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA What a distraction Christine O'Donnell has turned out to be. The conservatives desire to field a candidate (anybody) that would stand against the status quo in Delaware resulted in giving the nod to a Republican loose cannon that likely has no bearings and hasn't a clue as to what Delaware or this nation needs. As I live in another very liberal state (Massachusetts)I can appreciate the desire of the moderates and conservatives to put the brakes on the Reid, Pelosi, Obama agenda. However, to put up such a lightweight with no credentials such as as O'Donnell simply defies logic. But as I said I do not live in Delaware. Either we are for principle or we are against principle. In the case of Christine O'Donnell I simply ask ... Where is the principle? And what is the principle she stands by? Perhaps these are tough questions. But shouldn't the Republican voters of Delaware be asking these questions? Perhaps they did Via...

Christine O'Donnell... The Solution or Part of the Problem?

Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Can't seem to get into all the primary election hoopla. Hear a lot of rhetorical feel good talking points without a lot of specifics. As usual   there seems to a bit of ethical fortitude lacking in some candidates, aka Christine O'Donnell. Certainly not something the conservative Tea Party needs. Nor should they want a candidate that has the  baggage O'Donnell  is carrying . Perhaps I am being unfair. As an "independent" conservative I simply am skeptical  of her credentials to lead. I believe a candidate needs to display consistent ethical behavior. In this realm I fear O'Donnell is lacking. I could be wrong but where there is smoke there usually is fire.  Regardless whether a conservative or a progressive first "smells" the smoke the action needed is to put out the fire.. Check it out out here , here , here , and here . Lets hope the rest of the Tea Party hopefuls look more...

Constitution Day

Image
By: Les Carpenter III Rational Nation USA Today, September 17, 2010 marks the 233'rd year since the signing of the Constitution of the United States. The document that set a nation on a foundation which would ensure it remain free from governmental tyranny. A document that after ratification of the several states made us a nation governed by law rather than by a monarch, a dictator, or by theocracy. A document that allowed for the greatest individual liberty ever known to mankind. This day passes us by every year without mention or recognition of its importance. At least for most of us. Not only does this day pass us by without notice it is likely the majority of the nation lacks a cursory understanding of the document that founded our Republic. Perhaps this is part of the reason why this nation is in the state it presently finds itself. As I was thinking about the importance of this day I visited the Tenth Amendment Center . Sure enough, Founder Micheal Boldin has a great ...

A Shrinking Middle Class?

Sicko libtards are gleefully clicking their heels over data showing America’s middle class may be shrinking Reality Zone (not a libtard) is the rare liberal blog that has some rationality to it some of the time. He featured an article from lefty website Business Insider that seeks to prove that the middle class is being wiped out of existence . It is lefty skewed, and there are a few statistical tricks in there, but its factual foundation is fairly sound. Typical of the genre, it offers no solutions, other than to punish businesses for moving overseas. It is also rife with trite talking points... "The truth is that most Americans are absolutely dependent on someone else giving them a job." Since Jefferson's passing, when has this ever not been true? China can't keep  its workers down forever The article asks how we can compete with low wage countries. Well, we do! US Manufacturing has grown for the 13th straight month .  Daniel Ikeson at CATO has ...

Rick Santelli on CNBC's Street Signs September 16, 2010

Image
by the Left Coast Rebel First off, please go here and vote 'yes' on the CNBC street poll - "Is the Tea Party Good for Investors?" Oh my, oh my - I just caught Rick Santelli on CNBC's Street Signs with 'Street Sweetie' Erin Burnett . It is no wonder that Rick Santelli is the grandfather of the current day tea party movement in that what he said classically summed up just what the tea party stands for and the epic fight that we face. I will upload a video of it when I find one later. For now, classic Santellis from today include: "We don't have a two party system in this country, we have a 1.2 party system...." "The tea party doesn't look at it as needing to get behind Republicans, the tea party looks at it as needing to get behind the founding fathers...." "If the person there (Mike Castle) is a Republican that votes like a Democrat, we haven't lost anything..." "You are also assuming t...

Jim DeMint Draws a Line in the Sand

Image
by the Left Coast Rebel Jim DeMint, the consistent, conservative, senator from South Carolina is taking a stand . If the Republican party doesn't believe anything (ie. continually not standing by the party platform of limited government, which it hasn't for decades), then it doesn't deserve to win. Straight talk! Samuel Gonzalez checks in on this: Sen Jim Demint is one of if not the best conservatives in the senate who is not afraid to stand up for Conservatism-period. Many GOPers like Karl Rove and others have been exposed as comfortable Washington insider Republicans who don’t want genuine Ronald Reagan conservative (Tea Party) taking over the GOP. Tough toenails boys and girls because that’s exactly what’s happening and either you get on board or you’ll be kicked to the curb like Mike Castle. The Hill reports that GOP Sen. Jim DeMint said his party is on track to become stronger ideologically with O'Donnell's win over Castle. Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.), wh...

The Limbaugh Rule

Image
By: Les Carpenter III Rational Nation USA The thing about extremes is they are extreme. Anytime you see a placard, or hear a voice that encourages you to make a voting decision based solely on the candidate being the most conservative be wary. The same applies to the opposite end of the political theater as well. Being the most conservative does not automatically qualify a person to be the holder of elective office in and of itself. Just to make it clear, I am an independent conservative with Libertarian leanings. Naturally my vote always goes to a conservative or a Libertarian candidate, Although not always to the most conservative. For a leader (and within the Republican party in crowd Rush is a leader)to pitch to candidates that are the most conservative based solely on the degree of their conservatism is offensive. The important criteria for voting for a particular candidate goes far beyond just a candidates degree of conservatism. A person with demonstrated integrity, l...

Calling Out Unethical Bloggers!

Image
By: Pamela D. Hart I feel it’s important to conduct oneself in an honorable manner on the internet and I’ve behaved properly since my first social networking gig, which was MySpace back in the day. When I decided to begin blogging I knew I would continue my good behavior not only because I wanted to maintain my respectable on-line reputation but also because I didn’t want anyone I knew to read something unsavory written by me. I can say with confidence that after 3 years of blogging I have maintained my respectable behavior and will continue to do so. I’m not proud of some bloggers who actively and knowingly tried to censor other blogs. You can read the story here . I’m a firm believer in our 1st Amendment and I’m ashamed that Conservatives have been named in this Digg scandal. It makes those of us who are respectable and noble look bad. I would like to go on record right now by saying that I denounce anyone, Right or Left, who engages in sleazy behavior. I also oppose bloggers...
