Kirk's death is as unfortunate, saddening, and unnecessary as every other senseless death by firearm violence, absolutely. Beyond that nothing else should or need be said.

Having said that, given Kirk's racism, misogyny, divisiveness, and hate mongering it is impossible for many to watch the lionization of what in a more sane era in America would have resulted in severe criticism of hs divisive hateful rhetoric.
