Crucial Points in the Practice of Shamatha...

When fascism came to America it came clutching a bible and waving the flag.  On January 20, 2025.

All worldly pursuits have but one unavoidable and inevitable end, which is sorrow; acquisitions end in dispersion; buildings in destruction; meetings in separation; births in death. Knowing this, one should, from the very first, renounce acquisitions and storing-up, and building, and meeting; and, faithful to the commands of an eminent Guru, set about realizing the Truth. That alone is the best of religious observances. Milarepa

Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I will meet you there. Rumi

Grief can be the garden of compassion. If you keep your heart open through everything, your pain can become your greatest ally in your life's search for love and wisdom. Rumi

Because of lack of moral principle, human life becomes worthless. Moral principle, truthfulness, is a key factor. If we lose that, then there is no future. Dalai Lama

PALESTINIANS & THE RIGHT TO RESIST - Against a Tyrannical Israel...

Tonight's VP Debate, Mike Pence With the Unenviable Position of Defending The Donald's Madness...

Image
Rational Nation U S A Purveyor of Truth Watching the VP debate tonight should be interesting. More so to see Trump's reaction to his running mate's performance than the actual debate itself. tRump has undoubtedly moved presidential politics to new lows and all indications are he intends to take them lower. Sadly the republican party will suffer s a whole, But they've done the damage to themselves as really have no one to blame but themselves. Tim Kaine isn’t Mike Pence’s only opponent Tuesday night in the only debate between the vice-presidential hopefuls — Pence also has to cope with the big shadow cast by his party’s standard-bearer, Donald Trump. That’s one reason Democratic members of The POLITICO Caucus — a panel of swing-state activists, strategists and operatives — are more optimistic about Kaine’s chances of delivering a winning performance than Republicans are about Pence’s. Virtually all Democratic insiders surveyed last week, 97 percent, expect Kain...

Radical Islam, a Growing Worldwide Threat or Simply More Hype? You Be the Judge...

Image
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Libe rty -vs- Tyra nny Following is the text of an email that recently found it's way to the inbox of Rational Nation USA . After reading this many times over several days I finally determined to publish it. While many will disagree with the points made by Dr. Tanya, many others will agree. Certainly at the very least they are worth considering. History often repeats itself becaue good people decide to do nothing in the face of a growing threat of evil. A German's View on Islam: This is by far the best explanation of the Muslim terrorist situation I have ever read. His references to past history are accurate and clear. Not long, and easy to understand. The author of this is Dr. Emanuel Tanya, a well-known and respected psychiatrist. A man whose family was German aristocracy prior to World War II. His family owned a number of large industries, as well as estates. When asked how many German people were true Nazis, the answer...

Rep. Louie and the Fear Propagators ...

Image
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Lib erty -vs- Tyr anny Louie Gohmert - One Scary Idiot As it goes Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) is one slightly unbalanced and therefore rather disturbing individual. His "way out in left field" claim that President Obama's administration has Muslim Brotherhood members is, IMNHO opinion based on one of two things. The fact "good ole Louie" is incapable of accepting we have a mixed race President, or he is simply stirring the pot of fear. Much like Senator McCarthy did in a bygone era. In either case he is doing a great disservice to the American public. As a fiscally conservative social Libertarian I challenge the fear mongering right to provide some significant evidence in support of the delusions they would have us all accept as factual reality. TPM - Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) went after the Obama administration's handling of the Boston Marathon bombing investigation in a radio interview Thursday -- and alon...

Drain the Swamp and Dump Its Lerader In 2020...

May 28, 2020-The Lincoln Project’s latest ad released today shows that U.S. Senate Majority Leader and senior senator from Kentucky, Mitch McConnell, made tens of millions of dollars since he was first elected to office. Meanwhile, Kentucky ranks 40th in job opportunity in the nation, 45th in education, and 43rd in health care. “I’m a conservative lawyer of the type that McConnell has prided himself for putting on the bench. But precisely because I’m a conservative lawyer, I believe most fundamentally in the Constitution and the rule of law,” said Lincoln Project co-Founder George Conway. “When he fixed the impeachment trial by blocking evidence of Trump’s high crimes and misdemeanors, McConnell violated and abased the solemn oaths he took as a United States Senator. Add in the fact that, as our ad shows, he’s managed to do much better for himself than for the people of Kentucky, and it becomes a no-brainer: McConnell has to go.” It is most critically important that we DUMP TRU...

Trump's Long Shutdown...

Image
Trump is responsible for the extended shutdown, and, there is no end in sight. The president, on national tee vee , stated he would be proud to shut down the government and that he wouldn't blame Schumer and the democrats. Trump is playing to his base in what is nothing more than a cynical power play. As the shutdown drags on with no end in sight, and Americans in increasing numbers are directly impacted by Trump's shutdown decision, the heat on the president and his party will undoubtedly increase. Or, Trump could exercise his self described superior deal making acumen (something only Trump himself believes) and get back to the negotiating table and hammer out a win-win with the democrats. But his infantile stubbornness and disregard for the American people will prevent him from doing this. Or, this combined with the Mueller investigation moving in ever closer to Trump himself may very well provide the stimulus to fuel impeachment and eventual removal from office. ...

On the Lighter Side...

by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Purveyor of Truth While checking polling data for the Massachusetts Gubernatorial race between Democratic candidate Martha Coakley and Republican Charlie Baker the following excerpt discussing firearm ownership in Massachetts compared to the national average was noted. Massachusetts, with one of the nation's strictest firearm regulation laws is only slightly below the national average. Democrats as well as those with a college degree are less likely to own a firearm or have a family member who owns one than either Republicans or those with less education. Despite Massachusetts’ strict gun laws, as well as its reputation as a liberal bastion, 30 percent of likely voters said they or one of their immediate family members own a gun. That is not much different from national rates of gun ownership. One national survey, for example, found that 34 percent of American households owned a gun in 2012. The Globe poll found younger voters were ...
