More On Violence and Conflict...

More thoughts on the causes of conflict and violence in this world. To understand the ego and recognize reality at the same time is to understand how to end violence and conflict in this world.

Which begs the question, are religions as much a cause of conflict and violence in the world  as they are a force against conflict and violence?

The Final Farewell......

Image
After 10 years on Blogger it is time to say goodbye. It’s been an interesting up and down run, one that has been both fun and frustrating. In fact with so many ill-informed and hyper partisan folks out there it has even been maddening from time to time. I know our American politics have always been somewhat lively and partisan, but, I honestly don’t recall any time in my adult life that they have been as divided and nasty as they are right now. Trump bears a GREAT deal of responsibility for the rapid deterioration of civil and rational discourse over the last 3 + years. When America elected its first bi-racial President division took on a new and more sinister face. I say this not because Barack Obama actively attempted to divide our nation, I say this because the white conservative/republican/Evangelical alliance against President Obama set about to insure his Presidency would fail. You may remember the republican leadership actually verbalizing their desire to see Obama fail. Wh...

President Obama and the Federal Firearm Control Debate...

by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty -vs- Tyranny A proper government can accomplish positive things for the society it governs. Law determined to be desirable by the majority of the citizens governed by said government. Finding a proper balance between the government's authority to impose it's will on the people is the rightful domain of the governed to determine. With respect to firearm control and the President's determination to impose increased federal restrictions the nation finds itself in the middle of this debate. In as much as our government bears the responsibility to insure the general welfare and safety of it's citizens it must also guarantee it preserves the freedoms and liberties protected in the Constitution. Freedom and liberty carries with it a great and awesome responsibility. Listen to, a...

Image
by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty -vs- Tyranny 'The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun,' LaPierre says. | Reuters The NRA Solution to gun violence in our schools will either be met with scathing rebuke, or it will just be ignored. Must admit, it's not a novel or new idea, they floated it in 2007 as well. One I am fairly certain my sons and daughters-in-law, like millions of others will have a real issue with, again. Way to go NRA, really thinking outside the same box. Politico - The National Rifle Association stunned Washington observers Friday when the group’s CEO announced a plan to install armed guards at every school in the country — its response to the Connecticut shooting last week that left 20 children dead. Wayne LaPierre called the idea the National School Shield program, which would rely on local police forces. It will be led by former Rep. Asa Hutchinson (R-Ark.). “The only thing that stops a bad ...
