Trump's Long Shutdown...
Trump is responsible for the extended shutdown, and, there is no end in sight. The president, on national tee vee, stated he would be proud to shut down the government and that he wouldn't blame Schumer and the democrats.
Trump is playing to his base in what is nothing more than a cynical power play. As the shutdown drags on with no end in sight, and Americans in increasing numbers are directly impacted by Trump's shutdown decision, the heat on the president and his party will undoubtedly increase.
Or, Trump could exercise his self described superior deal making acumen (something only Trump himself believes) and get back to the negotiating table and hammer out a win-win with the democrats. But his infantile stubbornness and disregard for the American people will prevent him from doing this.
Or, this combined with the Mueller investigation moving in ever closer to Trump himself may very well provide the stimulus to fuel impeachment and eventual removal from office.
We are living in interesting and very troubled times.
No matter anyone's view on the shutdown, Trump claimed and took responsibility for it, as you said on national television.
ReplyDeleteThat's an inarguable fact.
The GOP Senate passed a bill to keep the government open, and then Trump switched direction, hung them out to dry and announced he would not sign it. The GOP controlled both houses of Congress and the White House. The House of Representatives would pass that GOP passed bill today if Trump would sign it.
Slice it, dice it, do whatever... Trump said it's on him. Probably the truest words he's ever spoken while in office.
EXACTLY Dave!!
DeleteAffairs go from bad to worse as a nation divides into primitive tribalism. Decent ideologies become
ReplyDeletemorphed by special interests seeking and gaining political control. Minorities maintain power with
gerrymandering and court packing. Nothing new there except the power of modern technology to
accelerate and exacerbate the process. A possible way out, or beginning a way out, is for Trump to
retire. With dignity and grace...admitting that the agonizing bonespurs which prevented his serving
his country years back has recurred...and thus he must once again reluctantly step aside. Oops, sorry.
I was having another daydream.....
A beautiful daydream it must have been for sure BB Idaho.
DeleteOf course we know that Trump has neither the class OR decency to resign.
Unfortunately our national nightmare will continue.
BB... Presidents Nixon and Ford did the country a huge service with the resignation and pardon. They were vets, patriots and believers in the best for America even at their political peril.
ReplyDeleteI don't see anyone at that level in this kerfuffle. Heck, I can't imagine who would star in the Howard Baker role in this GOP.
Any thoughts?
Melania?
Delete"I am proud to shut down the government for border security ... I will take the mantle. I will be the one to shut it down. I’m not going to blame you for it." –Donald Trump
ReplyDeleteYep. The record is clear. For those intelligent AND rational folks anyway.
DeleteOur Liar in Chief begin his Saturday address this afternoon regurgitating the same misrepresentations and lies he presented last week in his address to the nation. Exactly what those of us really paying attention to the LIC expected. Then he offered a couple things that make sense. Three year extension for DACA and other protections. Dems (Pelosi and Schumer) had better rethink their immediate position. Or, the just might lose the high ground. AGAIN
ReplyDeleteAnd, you're so FULL of CRAP you stink just like Nancy Pelosi
ReplyDeleteComing from the likes of you DF (which is also abbreviation for dumb f**k) your comment is actually a HIGH complement.
DeleteNow, be on your way and by ALL means let the door hit ya hard on your a**.
School yard taunts... nice Dark.
ReplyDeleteAny thoughts on the actual post?
BB... I almost spit my coffee on that. She might want to impeach Trump as a husband, but then how would she support her lavish lifestyle? And her recently chain immigrated parents?
Child support!
Delete@Dave - Don't expect DF to come back and make a cogent and rational comment on the actual post. Trumpers have demonstrated they haven't the intellect to do so.
DeleteIndeed Jerry.
DeleteToday's NFC and AFC Championship Game predictions. NFC - Saints... AFC - Patriots.
ReplyDeleteRN... im a lifeling Ram fan, but I think you've got it about right.
ReplyDeleteIf the Saints lose this game it will because of the extremely controversial 4'th quarter NON call by the refs.
DeleteThe entire officiating crew ought to get fired.
KC v Pats... what a great game...
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, that non penalty was terrible... and I'm a Rams fan.
I'm a NYG fan and was pulling for the Saints today and would have been pulling for them to win the SB. Now I want the Patriots to literally DESTROY the LAR. A team that are their due to a gift from a horrendous officiating team.
DeleteRN... One bottle of some great Mexican Tequila for you if the Pats win. If the Rams win, you send me a bottle of Single Malt Scotch.
ReplyDeleteDeal?
👍👍👍
DeleteI'm looking forward to a Super Bowl that is justly officiated. A hard fought defensive game. And one that will remind the LAR that they are there due to a gift from the lousy officiating team on 1/20/19.
Apparently tRump has caved and the government will reopen. For 3 weeks. Then the shutdown will resume? tRump isn't getting his wall, that's for sure.
