Liberty...
The state of being free within society from oppressive restrictions imposed by authority on one's way of life, behavior, or political views.
Honestly consider whether Republicans and Donald J. Trump understand, support, and protect individual liberty and everyone's right to the same when you vote in 2018 and 2020. The liberty you might lose could very well be your own.
Ever notice that when conservatives, republicans, and religionists profess to be fighting for freedom and liberty they are talking about that which they approve of?
ReplyDeleteConservatives/libertarians have twisted the word "liberty" into an euphemism for tax cuts. In fact, over the years various ideologists and religious nutballs have come up with so many contrived redefinitions of the words "liberty" and "freedom" that I often use more descriptive terms like "individual self-determination" to make sure people will know what I'm actually talking about.
DeleteGood point Infidel. I like it. Fits nicely with another of my prefered descriptive terms. personal (ie: individual) responsibility.
DeleteGiven the power the aforementioned groups would, with great satisfaction, end reproductive rights and marriage equality. Just to name a couple.
ReplyDeleteCome to think of it, has anyone heard conservatives and republicans championing a reduction in the national debt or annual deficit reduction of late? Didn't think so.
ReplyDeleteNow, the Cons/Rep sing the praises of flagrant overspending. They will "champion a reduction" only when the Dems take over. And then the Dems will sing the praises of flagrant overspending, while the Republicans will turn into deficit hawks. Lather rinse repeat.
DeleteFlagrant overspending and almost universal acceptance of deficit spending and Keynesian theory became widespraed under Reagan. It's been downhill every since.
