Life Is Just Too Short...
As you've no doubt noticed we haven't posted regularly for some time. It's not because there are no issues worth expounding on, rather it is because of the chaotic and dysfunctional state of out federal government. The representatives of the PEOPLE of this nation and the POTUS have created and continue to pursue a winner take all strategy. In other words they have created the perpetual zero sum game. We are, have been, and will likely continue to be in a constant state of internal conflict.
Call us wimpy if you like, but, too much time spent analyzing and contemplating what we consider to be absurdity is all together too time consuming, unproductive, and ultimately frustrating. Put another way it's too damn taxing. There are simply better and more important things to do. Life and its numerous joys are much more important than spending time in constant unchanging loop of absurd nonsense.
We will not say, both sides do it or, both sides are equally responsible because such a statement is blatantly untrue. Especially over prior twelve plus years. There is a degree of shared responsibility and we leave it to each individual to determine for themselves what that may be.
Fact is most Americans, conservatives, libertarians, liberals, progressives, and social democrats do not want their democratic republic government telling them what they should believe, who they should or should not love, what they can do in the privacy of their homes (violence and abusive behavior exclude), where they should send their kids to school, who they select as their doctor, and, we are sure, a myriad of other personal issues.
Conservatives and libertarians typically talk about government always having its hands in their pocketbooks and wallets. For them its about taking there hard earned money at the point of a gun. They view the functions of government differently than liberals, progressives, and democratic socialists who believe the government as a role in society beyond defenses, the courts, and keeping the streets safe. The social conscience of the person on the left tells them those with much out to help those with less. Government is the vehicle they view as the best way to insure this. As opposed to private charities and charitable donations as conservatives and libertarians advocate.
For the independent who sees validity in both positions and recognizes no one wants to be dictated to by their government, the current political environment is maddening, self-destructive, and unnecessary. But, that's just our independent view. Now it is time to turn to important things, those things within our control.
