THE HILL - Donald Trump said on Thursday it was a “great honor” to be complimented by “highly respected” Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“It is always a great honor to be so nicely complimented by a man so highly respected within his own country and beyond,” the GOP presidential front-runner told supporters at a rally in Columbus, Ohio.

“I would get along with him,” Trump said in September. “I would get along with a lot of the world leaders that this country is not getting along with.”
He's also said Putin does not respect President Obama.

Of course he would get along with a lot of world leader that we are not getting along with now. He thinks just like them. That's one of the problems with Trump.
ReplyDeleteTrump is on record as favoring Putin's approach in Syria and approving of Russia's partition of the Ukraine. Under Trump, Putin is likely to win sanctions relief. Neither Putin nor Trump are respectful of human rights or the institutions of democracy. They are cut from the same cloth.
ReplyDeleteGood points, all of you. It is hard to imagine anyone rational supporting Putin's "New Russian Empire" aggression against Ukraine, which is entirely unprovoked and is a one-sided conflict, and makes one wonder if Putin wants to finish the job Stalin started (Putin even boasted of being able to take all of Ukraine at will).
ReplyDeleteThis is not the first non-Russian nation along its borders that Putin has invaded and killed in (see his rape of Chechnya). He is hoping to do the same in Estonia, a country which like Ukraine has long suffered from aggression from Moscow, and like Ukraine, had a large proportion of its population killed off by the large aggressor empire during the 20th century.

There are many awful things about Trump, and rubber stamping foreign warlords as they order murder and rape just adds to it.
Someone with an ignorant pro-aggression view said that Ukraine is none of the US' business. Nor is it any of the USSR... er Russia's business.
Agreed dmark. And as we've seen historically two wrongs seldom make a right. Unless specifically asked by the victims of outside aggression to intervene on their behalf and in the interests pf those requesting the intervention. not the intervening party who as so requested.
ReplyDeleteTrump's idea of making America great again is to make people fear us, not earn their respect.
ReplyDeleteBut it won't be just feat, Jerry. There will be a lot of laughter too.
ReplyDeleteI mean "fear".
ReplyDeleteTrumpf is, to the sensible and rational folks a complete joke who holds very anti American values.
ReplyDeleteHe stands as a threat to the ideals and values of our founding documents.
