Interesting polling numbers from NBC NEWS. Both Planned Parenthood and the National Rifle Association have higher favorability ratings than either party or any candidate running for their parties nomination or the office of the president.

Yet neither Planned Parenthood or the NRA have a favorable rating of 50% or higher.

Negative politics and negative campaigning coupled with growing cynicism within the American public accounts for much of what we are seeing.

Regardless of what some might say, both political parties, the media, and the many special interest groups vying for favored status are responsible for the cynicism griping the country.

Nothing will change until the American people demand it. That we fear is a very long way off...


The survey comes as Planned Parenthood has been under intense scrutiny after an anti-abortion group released a series of undercover videos that picture Planned Parenthood officials detailing how they facilitate the use of tissue from aborted fetuses for medical research purposes. The NRA is perennially in the spotlight after mass shootings like the July 24 attack in a movie theater in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Unsurprisingly, there is a sharp partisan divide in how both organizations are rated.

The road back to a positive national mood and a contagious optimism is, if it is taken at all, going to be a long and arduous one given the man made obstacles.
