I agree with most of what Russell said, but it is also true that clergy in Britain were strongly abolitionists--See Thomas Clarkson, for example, and in this country The Reverend Martin Luther King. Just to name two. There were, of course, those in the clergy who defended slavery because it is sanctioned in the Bible, but not all clergy did so, and many worked for the Civil Rights movement. Otherwise, I'm on board with with Russell, having read "Why I Am Not A Christian" many years ago.

    Also, there's a funny quote, I don't know who said it: "Only three people understand the General Theory of Relativity: Albert Einstein, Bertrand Russell, and God. LOL!
