    I agree with most of what Russell said, but it is also true that clergy in Britain were strongly abolitionists--See Thomas Clarkson, for example, and in this country The Reverend Martin Luther King. Just to name two. There were, of course, those in the clergy who defended slavery because it is sanctioned in the Bible, but not all clergy did so, and many worked for the Civil Rights movement. Otherwise, I'm on board with with Russell, having read "Why I Am Not A Christian" many years ago.

    Also, there's a funny quote, I don't know who said it: "Only three people understand the General Theory of Relativity: Albert Einstein, Bertrand Russell, and God. LOL!

This particular visitor also made generalized statements about liberals that were mostly hyperbole and in this bloggers opinion part of the problem. The same problem the left is often guilty of. The visitors complete comment. First of all I believe that the post above me was written by a nut. But the title of his or her post is interesting. Interesting enough for me to elaborate on. I am laughing my proverbial arse off. After spending a fair amount of time on left,  or perhaps they would prefer the tag progressive leaning  blogs, reading the constant belittling, name calling, insulting and often vulgar characterizations of almost  anything they disagree with, which of course is everything conservative , I am not surprised to learn of a Anti Tea Party movement. Before going any further however I must be fair and balanced. There are a few lefties whose views and opinions are deserving of consideration and I would be amongst the first to advise everyone, including conservatives, to do so. I have, for many years, considered myself to be an independent conservative . Asked by some just what that means I would reply it implies I believe in the radical political views held by the founding fathers. Men of enlightened thinking who personified  "The Age of Reason." There have been many occasions I have been brought to task for pointing to the wisdom of  such giants as Washington, Jefferson, Paine, Franklin... the list could go on but for a lack of time. Compromise On Unemployment Extension Refused By Dem's

By: Les Carpenter III Rational Nation USA Once again Congress is proving politics and gamesmanship is most important to them. Particularly the Democrats who have an ever growing propensity to pander to the emotions of the nation. Thereby pushing the envelope on the never ending growth of their beloved Leviathan. Congress is about to adjourn for the The Fourth of July recess without having passed a bill to extend underemployment benefits. While the Dem's have claimed the Republicans as unsympathetic to the plight of the long term unemployed they have rejected several compromise offers by the GOP that would gain it's support. Namely that at least a part of bill be paid for. Democrats are going to hold out and will use this as a political lie in a sad attempt to gain political ca;ital.
