As we continue to find ways to advance collectivism in America and diminish individuality this Ayn Rand interview on the Johnny Carson show is indeed a welcome respite. Even if only for a brief 26 1/2 minutes.



I find it interesting how little the republican party represents the principles of Objectivism. Irrespective of what many have said.

    Why is "collectivism" and "individualism" considered polar opposites?

      They aren't exactly, Tao. Collectivism as practiced by the hard left/socialists is just a form of individualism in which only the rulers get to express such rights.

      After all, much of what is called a "collective" really isn't, and is instead something that is the personal property and playground of the rulers, who lie and tell the ruled that it all belongs to them.

As I sat numbed by the realization such a grotesque and deranged act could actually occur, I could not help but to contemplate what it is that would drive a 20 year old individual to commit such a heinous crime against innocent children. Having a 4 year old grandson and a 1 and a 1/2 year old old granddaughter the events of today hit very close to home. It is possible republicans could actually gain seats in the House. This of course either a good or a bad scenario, depending on how you view good or bad. It depends actually on whether or not President Obama is reelected. If he is we can almost be assured, based on his prior four years serving as President, of continued partisan gridlock. Assuming the Senate remains in democratic control of course, which it no doubt will. On the other hand if Mittens is elected the chances of actually getting anything done increases. Why? by: Les Carpenter Rational Nation USA Liberty -vs- Tyranny As one of many many millions who support the right of law abiding citizens to keep and bear arms I just can't imagine how the dude in the video, or others like him is helping the efforts of firearm advocates and preservation of the 2'nd amendment. Reasonable restrictions on firearms ( semi automatic assault weapons ) high capacity (extended) magazines, more extensive back ground checks hardly seems unreasonable. I could very well be wrong, but as far as I have been able to determine no one person or group has been advocating a total ban or elimination of 2'nd amendment rights. At least no one with any credibility or authority. If anyone can point me to information to the contrary I would love the link(s).  Stability of the dude? A bit questionable...
